Ah, yes. Bakersfield, Mesa, Stockton, Tulsa, Fresno, Dallas, Fort Worth…not at all shitholes and run by Republicans, many of them for decades.

I guess there was some Dem in there did all the damage.

I think a more intelligent position is to not take sides in this stupid partisan canard and genuinely interrogate what is going on in American cities?

Any answer to this that blames black people or democrats or “crime” is perhaps not looking at root causes.

For example, looking at the destruction and changes wrought by the automobile could be a reasonable place to start.

I'm sure it was the automobile that turned Baltimore, NYC, & LA into shitholes.

Yeah -- that must be it.

Half of LA county land area is for the automobile. NYC has the worst traffic congestion ever. Construction of the interstate system destroyed neighborhoods…most American cities are hideous strip malls connected by freeways.

I am not saying it’s just ONE thing. There are a number of things that have made American cities dumps.

Yeah. I guess I’m the idiot for gently suggesting that we take a larger view.

I suppose for some people it just makes more sense to call some group wicked and blame everything on them.

Sorry for attempting to be constructive.

"I suppose for some people it just makes sense to call some group wicked and blame everything on them" sort of like you are doing by blaming the jewwws and their supporters.

Eric Johnson is the current Republican mayor of Dallas. He spoke at the RNC to decry woke Democrats or whatever.

The city council, whose elections are non-partisan, have yet to appoint a new city manager. The city manager is also a non-partisan office and holds many of the powers associated with strong mayor governments.

They have a fairly weak mayor so it would be accurate to claim that a Republican mayor is not “in-charge” but he was elected by a majority of Dallas residents as a Republican.

These facts highlight the folly of blaming one or another party for the problems of American cities.

American cities have many problems and such finger pointing is unhelpful.

But silly me. Internet comments are not for nuanced discussions conducted by people who actually want to offer solutions to difficult problems.
