I deeply respect people's faith. I would NEVER attack anybody's religion.

But, as the immortal Voltaire spoke -- Crush the despicable.

I can't stand ignorance and adoration of swindlers and grifters.

Anybody who is in 21st century, after years of education, believes that Egyptian pyramids were built by St. Joseph to store wheat is indeed -- a Bible idiot. There is simply no better word to describe Ben Carson -- a disgrace to all Americans.

Boris, man, I generally like your posts and think you are an OK dude, but saying you "would NEVER attack anybody's religion" is not exactly consistent with your repeated use of the term "Bible idiot." I can understand why a Christian might take offense.

...you're free to use the terminology you want, of course. I just don't think invective is helpful to advancing the conversation.

Thank you Grisha -- an uncomfortable but a very appropriate term.

Ben Carson is a terrifying example of a well schooled man who takes all and everything in religious text, in his case one of thousand versions of translated/interpreted Bible, as literal truth - coupled with utter ignorance of basics (Egyptian pyramids) -- calling him a Bible-idiot can't offend anybody's religious feelings.

If anything, Ben Carson insults religious feelings and deeply offends Christianity.

-- As the wonderful Kurt Vonnegut lovingly said -- "I am Christ-loving atheist."

-- Chris Hedges wrote a well researched book about Ben Carson types -- titled "American fascists"

We're cool, man. All I'm trying to say is that the term "idiot" is widely understood to be pejorative, and I do think that using in in conjunction with the sacred text of a particular religion could be cause for offense to adherents of that religion.

I'm not trying to say that you can't or shouldn't use a particular term or censor your speech. I'm a free speech absolutist. All I'm saying is that if you're speaking to an audience, it is wise to consider the impact of your speech on the audience with respect to the reaction you want to provoke. If you intend to offend them, go for it!

I recall a very funny passage from one of taibbi's rolling stone dispatches from the 2016 republican debates about Carson. If my memory serves me here, taibbi said that it was the consensus of the press pool covering the debates, referring to Carson's somewhat ethereal presence, that "Carson gave the appearance of someone who left the house in the morning, and on his way to a surgeon's convention somehow ended up at a presidential debate."

"....How is Carson's stated belief more or less deserving of respect than the galaxy of "sacred truths" that also fly in the face of material fact held dear by the millions of people of faith you insist you'd never attack...."

It wasn't about respect---more like concern. That he was attempting to achieve the highest and most important political office in the land. And one of the things most Americans agreed on in 2016 is that they didn't want a nut in the Oval office---at least not a nut like Carson.

Oh, I love his suits! I think I still have one his ties from the '70s. It's wide enough to divert the 405 Freeway though.

Good afternoon, grisha! The weather here in Volgagrad is just yummy!

If you don't know answer to your question -- than you are as ignorant and maliciously false as ignoramus bible-idiot Carson himself.

Pls see a doctor -- to try to remove your head from your ass and perhaps argue your "thinking" with chickens.

I noticed that Biden claimed this last Wednesday that the Jan 6 rioters killed a police officer. Even the toadying Wa0Po has retracted that lie. Talk about despicable..

Can't agree more -- Biden family is extremely corrupt (he, his brother, son). Yet the immense DNC and Biden-family corruption is still a taboo topic in mainstream media.
