I was thinking that his run was short compared to DC. And he was assassinated. Of course his role in the end of empire was not small.

Granted the short run, though he was involved with the Tsar's family for the better part of 10 years. Besides, Cheney has something of that Rasputinish look, doesn't he?

The reference was more along the lines of him being the evil loon behind the throne, pulling the levers. Bribes, sure, but I"m not sure about serial adulterer. I thought that was the Newt.

I know. I'm just imagining him saying "I'm having...chest pain" while cavorting. Or maybe he'd shoot the lady.

Rasputin was *very popular with the wives of the Russian nobility. He had them convinced that he was the equivalent of a mystical guru, and that his "effluent" carried *very special Spiritual properties.

Hey, good work if you can GET it ! ;-D

Yes, while it lasted. Eventually some of the husbands decided that *they were not all that favorably impressed with the "Mad Monk" and access to the Noblewomen kind of went on "hiatus" ! :-D

Check out that movie "Vice" from a couple years ago. It's worth a look.

I will, but i'm sad it isn't a comedy, sounds like something that would benefit from the style of "Pentagon Wars"

Black comedy. The blackest. There's some bullshit stuff and the critics were ambivalent, but it's a good Cheney roast.
