Sadly, we see too many commenters on this site rah-rah-ing Trump's deportations, blind to the issues you described so well in your post. And tariffs (duties and imposts in 18th century language)-- here's an interesting tidbit from Article 1, Section 8, of our own Constitution:
"The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;..."
The Congress handed the tariff power over to the Executive, for some unknown reason, just as it did the power to raise war. And this doesn't seem to bother anyone. Not to mention our rights as inhabitants of this country.
