You must be one of those SW Missouri grads. Federal tax dollars backstop this shit. Kinda like Fannie and Freddie fueled the mortgage disaster 15 years ago.
What is it about people like you who hate average people in trouble, and want to protect the wealthiest? I went to school in the 60s and 70s and the interest on my loans were much lower because cost was much lower than mentioned in the article and I got a "useless" degree. They were easy to pay off.
Your idea is you should only be permitted to get a degree if it is engineering? Not in any of the humanities?
So I went to school to go to school and to learn stuff I didn't know. History, classics, literature. Try it, it might open your mind a little. Why not? At the time I could pay with grants and the costs were a LOT lower. Added to the fact it was an expanding economy.
I have no problem with history, classics and literature. They are not taught enough. But can you seriously claim the тАЬfill in the black - studiesтАЭ degrees provide monetary value?
All these studies degrees didnтАЩt exist in the 60тАЩs and 70тАЩs for good reason. They are worthless. The only value they provide is too the growing grievance industry that is hell bent on destroying Western Civilization. They donтАЩt hide this fact. They shout it from the rooftops.
Well it is kind of difficult to have a rational discussion with someone who is clearly delusional as for your first point.
As for your second point it is probably not possible in the neoliberal gilded age we currently live in. I suggest getting rid of 3/4 of the administrators and cutting the salaries of the rest by 2/3. To start with.

The government will pay their debt ... that's "We the People" who already paid off our own college debt.

I'm average people! Humanities? You can get a great job with a humanities degree, Welfare intake, Chicano Studies. Man! That's the future.
If тАЬhumanitiesтАЭ degrees offered any value to anyone these graduates would be able to pay off their loans would they not?
