My limit was reached on a flight from Washington Dulles to Indianapolis. A girl obviously too young to sit alone in the exit row was approached by a member of the flight crew. She didn't understand English. I offered to help since I speak most Western European and South American languages. It turned out she was from Estonia, where the language is largely derived from Finnish. We were delayed an hour.

We are speaking up for what we believe in even if it means we will be relegated to the fiery pit of Substack. Just look how corporate caved in!"

So they are 'acting like' independent journalists like Matt because that's who they are losing viewers to. We're probably going to see a lot more of these 'acts.'

lol. Dumb all around. The talking heads at NBC can’t deal with a perspective they disagree with because it could hurt the Narative. Ronna fell into the classic trap (because she’s a nepo baby with low intelligence) - she was forced to say things she probably didn’t agree with to placate the talking heads on the network so she didn’t get fired from the job she didn’t start yet. And then they fired her anyway, which was probably the plan the whole time. The fact she would even consider a job on NBC shows why she’s no longer the RNC head.

Expand full comment
Don Reed's avatar

03/27/24: The best part of this sh*t show is when Ronna realizes that her agent, who should be defending her, is actually maneuvering to be the one to send more candidates over to NBC "News," leaving Triple-Chin-O'Rama out in the cold. The last thing her agent now wants to do is alienate his future clients. So she now finds herself in the position of the entry-level women who went to NBC Personnel to complain about "Handsy" Matt Lauer --- and found out that Personnel And Higher Management was squarely in the pocket of the man who made millions each year lecturing the world about Sexism while playing the stud in his office with the unwilling female employees that he'd locked in his office via a button under his desk.

I haven't watched Rachel Maddow do her thing in years. Wow. I just watched all 12 minutes of this performance and I have to say she is truly first rate. She doesn't exactly use method or classical technique but something of her own invention: before our eyes she transforms into the simple, plain-spoken, deeply concerned and objective citizen journalist. Her pursed lips. Her perfect pathos. And she achieves all this despite the hundreds of millions "earned" toeing the establishment line on every issue for almost 20 years. Every war. Every bank bailout. Every worker-crushing policy. Her contortionist facility is breathtaking. We watch and we believe, because we believe that she believes.

The emotional restraint, the stoic refusal to cry out, to despair, to rage - even though she knows "Our Democracy" is at the precipice and total destruction is nigh due to that nefarious MAN and the Rasputin-like powers he's used to ensorcel half the country. Saruman? Rasputin? Sauron himself? Oh no, Putin is Sauron.

I cannot express how wide was the river of tears I shed knowing that if not for the brave stalwarts at MSNBC, FBI, CIA, Justice Dept, various states' attorneys, etc. "Our Democracy" will surely end and night WILL descend... and the nation we have known for over two centuries will cease to exist forever. For if this scrappy rag-tag bunch of rebels don't succeed in stopping us from choosing the next president in a fair election then democracy itself will certainly die. Forever. And don't question all those ballots mailed with no ID. Don't question the ballots harvested by brave government funded Dem-party aligned NGOs. Because starting in 2020 questioning anything about the electoral process became the express train to fascism.

Rachel the Brave. Rachel the Bold and True. And even if WE lose and Our Democracy dies (in darkness?) remember the deeds of this woman. Recall her glory. She may die fighting, but fight she will. And in the dark times to come the little children will whisper in secret spaces and say "tell us the story - tell us about brave Sir Rachel and the last battle for the Clownworld Democracy.
