I don't get that from his comment, at all. I read intense frustration that politicians and media figures overruled people who actually study this stuff and people died because of it.
You may be right. I would note that the only people that were disregarded were several doctors from Stanford's Dr.John Ioannidis, and many others that had different opinions than the thoroughly politicized CDC and of course the little man Fauci.
I didn't read one credentialed epidemiologist who dismissed masks and social distancing. Every one of them said it was crucial to minimizing the pandemic til a vaccine was available. Meanwhile a majority of Republicans, from trump down to local city councils, backed by a majority of right wing media figures, said it was all paranoid virtuistic cosplay.
Well if you wore a N95 mask yes, but a cloth mask is worthless. In addition, if people followed mask wearing etiquette they would only use it once and then dispose of it. I see people in their cars, alone wearing masks. I don't recall, other than what the MSM was saying that many on the right (if that is even a valid way of looking at things) were against masks, they were against the constantly changing goal posts. If you remember we were told not to wear a mask at the beginning. Politicians like Pelosi and DeBlasio were telling us to come down to China Town, everything was A OK.
Cloth masks are not great for preventing you from getting Covid, but they keep people from spreading the virus. The poor messaging on this point, up and down the line, is unforgivable. Otherwise I can write off a lot of the changing messaging to a "novel" virus, where information was changing weekly, and various levels of government trying desperately to balance public health and not utterly collapsing the economy. And the BdB/Pelosi examples are exactly why I don't buy this as a government control conspiracy. The Dems would have pumped the fear way, way harder up front if that was the case. I think in hindsight BdB actually delayed shutting down the city by a crucial 2 weeks in an attempt to normalize things and fend off panic.
Fauci did lie about the masks. And then explained that lie by his concern for the front-line workers. Don't think it was a conspiracy. Maybe incompetence. What gets my goat is the pedestal the fake resistance placed that clown on.
I get mad at masterminds that are self absorbed and arrogant assholes.

I don't think the virus is a government control issue, but as the Democrats say out loud "never miss the opportunity that a crisis creates".
True but in true Democrat fashion they botched this one too, imo.

Is Fauci a media figure or a politician? Both? Is he a scientist as well?
