I guess adding the Bill of Rights to the Constitution was, in fact, a good idea. It was a matter of debate whether such fundamental rights should be codified, but it turns out that depending on custom and precedent stops working when the ruling elite reaches a certain level of shamelessness, incompetence, and gross stupidity.

I’ve been appalled at the erosion of free speech in the U.S. but, compared to England, we come off looking pretty good. Indeed, freedom of speech seems to be making a comeback here, though we have a ways to go.
It’ll be telling to see what happens next. All of the smug, entitled censors need to be rooted out, not repurposed. I wouldn’t mind seeing a lot of firings and indictments, either. Schadenfreude in defense of liberty is no vice!
