I’m no gushing fanboy, and I don’t need your autograph or your attention, but sometime today I hope you lift a glass of something nice and toast yourself, in the name of all of us, whom you may never meet, whose lives you make better and more interesting, for not selling out, not telling lies, and never losing your sense of humor.

Happy thanksgiving to you Matt, and thank you for your work.

It's courageous and so necessary right now. You, Glenn, Bari and Sasha, I hope, are the beginning of the new fourth estate, replacing the old, broken mess that's devolved to nothing more than advocacy and click bait.

Go Lions and Go Blue!!!!

Sasha Stone.

An excellent Substacker!

And frequent thoughtful commenter here.

Of course!

Wikipedia must hate him. (Checking. "Conspiracy theorist!" Of course!)

Who is Bari?

Bari Weiss. Writes “Common Sense” on Substack. Also does the “Honestly” podcast.

Ok, I’m familiar. Please refrain from including rats that jumped ship in the same sentence as real journalists like Taibbi’s, Greenwald, Assange, and (strangely enough) Brand.

Not that I hate her, but she’s not in the same stratosphere.

A little addendum:

When I first went down the rabbit hole of sound money, free market capitalism, non-interventionism, etc thanks to Dr. Ron Paul…

I found myself being irritated at people for not knowing what I learned two days ago. However, Weiss is a journalist… not a commoner.

I have less sympathy to people whose job it is to be informed and challenge the populace’s biases.

Hence the label “rat” that I laid at her feet. I freely admit that her leaving NYT took courage and if it took her longer to perceive what this college dropout has seen for decades I shouldn’t hold that over her head - but I’m still skeptical…

This is true.

Also, it pisses me off that she’d co-opt Paine’s seminal work. After all “tis dearness only” (subjective theory of value) that gives everything it’s worth.

You’re a treasure MT! So grateful for you. Thank you for your gift of battling bullshit.

Thanks for the laughs, style and outrage. You’re moving to clean-up now that Jonathan Swift has retired. Had to shuffle Mencken and Orwell but they know it’s for the good of the team. Enjoy T-Day...and always remember that we’re counting on you to knock the hell out of any garbage pitches they throw your way. This game ain’t over!

Thank you Matt! Happy thanksgiving, and may you and yours live well today! <3

If I had to pare my Substack bill down to one journalist, it would be you (well, maybe you and Greenwald). And extra credit for hooking up with that brilliant Walter Kirn. Best wishes to you and yours, and THANK YOU.

Kirn is completely new to me.

He's great.

Thanks TK! Remember to print out Klain's "Biden's Top Accomplishments" T-day talking points, and add "whored the jab for Big Pharma".

Matt - When you link to an external article it would be helpful if you would note when it's behind a paywall, like Walter Kirn's Thanksgiving post today.

Please and thank you. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

One of the things I’m most grateful for this Thanksgiving is true journalists like Matt Taibi and Walter Kirn among many others on Substack. I have no idea where we’d be without them. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Matt and crew! 🦃🍂🍁🧡

It's Turkey Tish B'av...the saddest day on the Turkey Calendar.

Unless you're a white turkey at the white house. Interesting how the only pardon the white ones.

Actually it is the happiest day on the Turkey Calendar--without, millions of turkeys would never have lived, not for even a short time. We'll be sure to thank the one we are roasting today.

Don't forget, at this point we're all just turkeys headed to eventual slaughter...

There once was a young girl potato who had potato parents who loved her and tried to give her everything she needed or wanted. They bought her the best clothes, bought her a nice car and sent her to the best schools.

One day she came home from college and announced she was getting married. Her parents were worried she was making a rash and wrong decision and told her so.

"We'd like you to finish school." they told her.

"No, I want to get married." she informed them. "I don't care about college. The man I want to marry is smart and successful enough for both of us."

"Well, who is this guy you want to marry?" they asked.

"Walter Cronkite." she said.

"You can't marry HIM!" her parents exclaimed.

"Just why not???" she asked.

"Well...." her folks said, choosing their words carefully.

"He's just a common tater.

Walter 's great, but why doesn't he just go for $9.99 a month instead of just $9. But either way it's too pricey for me...
