Unless we get another Lincoln who would use the Constitution as toilet paper and send millions of men and boys into a slaughter to "save the union," which was not worth saving even then. Now the "union" is less worth saving, due to the unchecked centralization of power with the President and with unelected bureaucrats of the various federal agencies currently giving us so many problems. We have been collectively conned into believing that the states are better off "united."
I envision an America much like Europe, but with the Federal government (the equivalent of an elected EU) reduced in size and scope. All constitutional state governance restored--including local taxation replacing the federal income tax--leaving the power to actually declare war to an act of Congress (remember that?) and the defense/policing of the coasts and other points of entry to the feds.
