I am almost 74 and recently labelled autistic. I have no idea what left and right are when I have no idea of context. Where am I standing? If I am standing in Quebec Bernie Sanders is too my right if I am standing inside Washington's beltway Donald Trump is on my extreme left.

America has not taught its children well.

I have friends in low places and I have friends in high places. They tell me me the only thing I need to know is what Bauhaus once taught. Form follows function.

They tell me that if America seems totally dysfunctional it is because it is made to seem totally dysfunctional.

My great passion is satire Irving Layton 1912-2006 is my favourite satirist but nobody really cares who he is. Jonathan Swift and Mark Twain are second and third in no particular order and Pearls before Swine and Calvin and Hobbes are particularly insane philosophers. I am extremely lucky to have had Borat as a best friend and spiritual adviser.

Justin Trudeau could have spent his life hunting tigers in Nepal instead of studying martial arts and living and teaching drama in a Montreal inner city working class neighbourhood. He is 50 years old he has spent half his adult life learning to be human so he could play Marcus Aurelius on TV. I can't control words. I speak in metaphors and I am learning how to write. I am a slow learner.

The press can't write truth about Justin Trudeau because it cannot understand Justin Trudeau. The press cannot tell us the truth because the press has no knowledge of what truth is. America has enough scientists, technicians, engineers and mathematicians. It is up to the eyeballs in Sophists but it is starving for Socratics. Without Socratics there is no Western Civilization. The USA is Western but it sure ain't civilized.

Authoritarian bullshit is authoritarian bullshit. No amount of fancy words changes that simple fact.

May I ask when does an authoritarian cross your line and become a true spiritual and moral leader?

John Ralston Saul says cynicism is democracy's greatest threat. Aren't you proving his hypothesis by ranting about authoritarianism.

I live in a real democracy and Justin grew up in my Quebec neighbourhood as did Kamala Harris. I understand the culture ethical and moral values. I know many societies but they are few compared to the many I do not know or understand.

What might I ask do you see from Matt330 world? Who do you believe? If you don't believe anybody how can you believe yourself. It took me a long time to believe myself and I still have doubts.

Oh I don't know. The protection of individual liberties even when inconvenient? Governments restrained by their constitutions and accountable to their own laws? Skepticism and limitations on the use of emergency powers? Equal protection under the law without exception? Blatant corporate monopolies being subjected to antitrust laws already on the books? I don't give a damn what you believe or what you believe about yourself and before you try to do the stupid gotcha of throwing that back at me, no shit, that is how the world works. All the things I listed are already part of my country's constitution and laws. While we are at it, a press that holds the powerful to account and does not get caught lying every other day and foreign policy that actually works in the interest of my country would be nice too.

Oh and just out of curiosity, you do know Kamala Harris was infamous for violating the rights of defendants when she was a prosecutor in California and Tulsi Gabbard bringing up said abuses in a debate was what tanked her presidential run?

In democracies we have rights not liberties we are not anarchists or libertines. Epstein is not our hero.

Matt330's avatar

Are you fucking high? Liberties has specific legal connotations involving the restriction of government power, where as the legal connotations of "rights" has been severely watered down. They can now mean anything from freedom of assembly (which you seem to hate) to government assistance programs. Also, what the fuck does Epstein have to do with anything?

Yes I knew about Kamala and I am not a fan but I try to understand. I am only saying where she attended school. Come up for a visit, you have described Quebec democracy. No gender, no religion, no race, no socio -economic walls; with equal justice for all. That is our constitution. Our courts determine justice not law; unjust laws regardless of legality are banned.

Democracy is a journey not a destination. The road ahead is still long and winding but I think you will like what you see. This is not Kansas and it sure is not Oz.

Any thoughts on where Kamala would be today if she hadn’t blown Willie Brown?

I think you made an understandable error. I am sure you meant high and mighty attitude not high altitude. She grew up on the mountain but not at its pinnacle and Westmont Mont Royal nis not Everest I am a moron and thought it was a good if not great joke. Now I need help getting an old laughing hysterically old troll off of the floor.

In 1978 Kamala was attending Westmont High and the Jonestown massacre was not even front page. The front page was the story of Americans being Americans and we had our own front page as the moving vans were in Westmont evacuating the corporate elite who had their own special way of protesting taxes, mandates and liberal democracy.

Trudeau is a child, Kamala has no values because she stands for nothing.

Are you familiar with Gal Saad? He’s quite interesting. Very unique with a keen sense of reading people.

Gail, Trudeau is heir to great fortune. He is 50 and before politics lived worked, and taught in a working class inner city neighbourhood and studied martial arts and taught drama and theatre. Our than the liberal caucus Trudeau's voter all live in Papineau a rather poor by Canadian standards working class neighbourhood. Why do you p'ay any attention to English corporate media puzzles me. This is Taibbi County.

Watch Trudeau in the ring with Martial artist Senator Patrick Brazeau. Brazeau is an honourable man and accomplished martial artist. When you watch the fight think Liston/Ali. Brazeau was a heavy favourite until the referee stopped the fight as the third round began and the paid blood thirsty mob never got to see Trudeau's 40 year old locks shorn from his aristocratic head. I hate our English Corporate media maybe more than Taibbi hates your corporate media because Canada is not a hegemonic empire and should know better.

Pierce is OCD. It is hard to deal with obsessive compulsive disorder. I enjoy our dialogue but I have banged my head against the wall of ignorance for 70+ years and bad habits are hard to break even when they inflict brain damage. Only in America is OCD a crime. In Quebec it is a medical condition.

pierce the invitation to visit still stands. In Quebec OCD is a medical condition not a personal failure. You might want to consider Quebec after you finish High School. In Quebec medical services are a right from perceived empirical sentience till dead as a doornail. We have some world renowned psychiatrists. Your hero Dr Peterson trained in psychology at McGill and worked with our worst pathologically insane citizens. I think our psychiatrists would find you very little of a challenge.

The first Socratics like Plato rejected democracy because they believed democracy would end with chaos. So far Quebec has done well but democracy is barely 50 and in America the attempt at liberal democracy went from 1932-and died in 1972. Watergate took care of Nixon but democracy never returned. Carter was overthrown in a Parliamentary coup and a corrupt media campaign focused on repeating the same lies ad nauseum.
