Self awareness is what is lacking in our world and what makes people truly bad. Self awareness allows honesty. Nobody can be fully self aware 24/7, it's virtually impossible, so there also needs to be reflection and empathy.
Nah.. It's the internet. Who knows what anybody is. Thank you for the apology, and accepted, but not necessary.
I ramble A LOT... so I rarely make coherence of my thoughts in type. My wife will tell you anywhere, but she's married to me, so she's obviously nuts! :D
Agree with some, disagree with others, and do not doubt any of the facts you claim about you and those you love.
I have empathy for all of nature's children, and their struggle to be free and happy.
I am happy, and apologize to you, M. Ferguson, and any others who are here the object of my contentiousnous, especially if I have misread anyone. Try me; I am quick to change my hastily formed opinions, and eager to support my deeply held ones.
Few weeks go by without getting high, and I wish no days ever did, with whisky a distant second.
I can't drink but last week I went cold turkey for 24 hours without my vitamin T just to prove to myself I could do it. I went several years without my cannabis living in communities where just lighting up would set off alarms and the only thing that saved my life is that alcohol makes me sick long before I get drunk.
Canada Poste knows what is in those parcels from the cannabis commission ad I have had my unopened Isle of Islay malt for over 25 years because I don't drink alone and people who viisit know I don't drink.
I have no reason in the world to lie, I nothing to protect but my reputation and everybody trusts my wife and I because we never wanted much and we have each other and more than we can give away.
My wife was born at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville and I was born at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal but I was young I don't remember being born but I remember the first time I got stoned Gordon Lightfoot was singing the Canadian Railroad Trilogy.
It was only five years ago that my wife and I listened to Leonard Cohen's Concert in Warsaw. My father was born in a town near Krakow and arrived in NYC before his childhood was eradicated. It was a concert where my wife and I held hands and Leonard closed the concert with the Tennessee Waltz.
The children and grandchildren have turned out well but they are North American ultra bougeoise and I don't understand middle class morality and I know education doesn't make you wise and poverty doesn't make you stupid. I know "I get high with a little help from friends."
When we left Chicago the last few concerts I attended were Wagner's Ring Cycle. My father enjoyed the opera my Father Law enjoyed country especially tear jerkers like Help me make it through the night.
I get high to enrich the experience of friendly converse, preferrably with friends.
I am no writer, but I hitched a ride on Glenn Greenwald's substack, started posting exclusively to various substack writers and, for the first time in...well, ever! started writing!
I sleep with my human female angel, whose saving grace and beauty she bestows on me each and every day, so it's her fault.
Thanks Tim, I don't believe in Angels my wife is a Sainte.
I am diagnosed as autistic. I have no idea what wide spectrum means. I must receive full spectrum lighting and I know what is the visible spectrum and wide spectrum is puzzler. I had a lot of help getting to fifty and my wife and her fellow doctor of philosophy got me writing. My current need is an new autistic keyboard Amazon is awaiting a new supply and its been a year and I haven't located anything I can use. The Senior keyboard lasted a month. I love writing and my partner loves reading but I can't compete with the writers she likes to read. We 've been together so long I don't even need to speak. I am a very lucky human.
We both have PhD vocabularies but she has a PhD and I found primary school too challenging and High School was cruel and unusual punishment.
It is all my wife's fault if I hadn't met her I would long be of blessed memory and would never have learned how to write.
My wife didn't finish High School The University of Chicago made her an offer her parents couldn't refuse.
We are really into baseball. We watched the Blue Jays in Arlington. In was indoor baseball but still way too hot. It wasn't really baseball. What happens if the grid goes down in Texas? A million dead?
Our utility is public not private. It works with private enterprise and Quebec leads the world in new startups. Our problem right now is our success and private business needs trained workers. We have to pay students to stay in school. We need good teachers and good street sweepers and somebody must take charge. In Quebec it was our ethical philosophers. Who is in charge where "Freedom is Slavery" I would really enjoy a conversation with someone who believes in the Right to Work.
Orwell is a great philosopher.
We are the government. We don't trust profit with our health and safety. How do you define democracy?
Our electric utility employs 70,000 people and we need another 30,000 trained employees. Do you trust Elon Musk with your life? It is not that ethical philosophers don't make mistakes but they are not on commission.
When our governments fail we fire them . We call that an election and our political parties are like private enterprises they fall into bankruptcy. Our Credit Union has over 100000 employees and our largest farming co-op is over 120,000 and is expanding rapidly in California. We need workers and we found it is cheaper to pay people who don't want to work or can't work to stay home and smoke dope. They can call a phone number and get a ride for under 5$ anywhere if they are drunk or stoned. Hey if I was 50 years younger I wouldn't smoke as much and I would just enjoy the ride and my fellow travellers/s.
Never apologize for speaking the truth.

But I'm just rambling mad now. :D
To paraphrase M. Ferguson:
Democrats are self-aware (whatever *that* means) and good.
Republicans are un-self-aware (ditto) and bad.
It's interesting that you are labeling me a Democrat? I haven't voted for a Democrat in a national election in almost a decade now.
My mistake, M. Ferguson. Please accept my apology. Thank you for your measured response.

I emote here, not around the Mrs., bless her poor judgment.
You are. Fetal alcohol can destroy empathy and leave intellect intact. I worked in a facility where good and evil were a strange concepts.
Isn't insanity not knowing right from wrong.
Hmm...well, even deciding right from wrong usually involves at least some amount of *opinion*.
imo, very little in life is "black and white".*
* scare quotes to keep from triggering the race-baiters.
My wife is a paper doc and we like to talk philosophy in our dotage.
Our grandchildren are city people and we are country mice.
We saw Jesse just before he passed this song is our song as we watch the birds at the feeders in the backyard.

My Partner was born in Nashville.
Religion is a fiction.
Evolution is real.
We see it every day.
Life is too short and I prefer cannabiis to smoky whiskey but I am a happy old grandpa grateful I had to turn on the heat pump this morning.

When our Social worker visited on Monday she shared her observation that people our age usually sleep in separate beds.
Nice to meet you, Moe
I'm Tim, your new friend.

I must say, Moe, that you are in rarified company.
I seldom meet a man who can compete with me in the luck category.

He wasn't. (logical fact)
He didn't speak the truth, either. (opinion)
Mingle with more people, fewer cattle.
Must I?
Touch├й to a degree. At least cattle don't pontificate their dreary ideas, but then again herd instinct has it pitfalls.
MOOO!
