Mary Anne Imelda isn't making the argument you think she is. She's suggesting that America is such an irredeemably racist place that as soon as black people and other minorities start openly arming themselves, current gun rights advocates will change their tune.

I don't buy it. No doubt it would be true of some individuals, but it's not 1966 anymore, regardless of what Ibram Kendi says.

Around here, we are arming Hispanics and lesbians and Hispanic lesbians.

Firearms are a great equalizer, particularly for "vulnerable populations." William S. Burroughs wrote a story about a gay man who unapologetically shot some would-be gay bashers in self-defense. I hate that our media would rather have a dead victim than a dead perpetrator.

Victims are so much more useful for propaganda.

Ever read Preacher?

God gets shot in the face by a man wielding a Colt.

One of my favorite jokes, really.

Garth Ennis is a bit much for my tastes, but Preacher and The Boys both had good moments.

That is not my argument. I'm pointing out that Black people ARE arming (also, white children ARE dying from guns) and still no significant changes are on the horizon

I apologize for putting words in your mouth.

Change is happening though. Now (as of last week) urban black Americans should enjoy the same legal access to self defense as flyover whites have for decades.
