Donna - question. What do you think about teaching younger kids about gender identity etc.? Not knowing where you live, I can't assume this is part of the curriculum. Here in the liberal elite intellectual NY metro area, several school districts include topic of gender ID for kids as young as 8 or 9 as part of the diversity and inclusion training.
I guess I would need to see how they talked about it. If it were up to ME...I might opt to either 1) not mention it unless it came up...brought up by the students and/or a parent, or 2) presented a fairly even-handed discussion of "some people feel" and "others say"...pros and cons of the current national discussion...but tailored to their level... I would definitely NOT appear to be encouraging changing one's biological ID...I would stay as neutral as possible.
