Such pretty language “reproductive rights”. You mean abortion up to birth, that’s what Walz voted for. Maybe that doesn’t bother you but there’s nothing reproductive about aborting a fully formed baby.

Only an idiot thinks abortion happens till birth. Educated people realize 98% of them happen in the first trimester. The rest occur when there are things wrong w mother or fetus.

Only an idiot would advocate for it then.

Advocate for it? How about you? Just mind your own business and let women control their own bodies?

I am a woman and I can say my opinion freely so far. But who knows if Democrats get their way. Millions of women do not support abortion the way Democrats and Leftists do, we are informed and have the right to a voice. So it is my business.

I say this as someone who thinks abortion, an abomination of a procedure to the woman as well as the baby, should be legal, available, and.....rare! It is in no way rare today, there are more than 3,000 abortions carried out in the US per day. Yes, that’s right per day, in the US alone. Over 60 million babies aborted since Roe v Wade. It is clear it’s not being used as a last resort, for rape, incest or the health of the mother, but as a form of contraception.

And it’s not just about taking the life of the innocent baby. Added to that, research from across the world suggests that abortion increases the risk of mental health complications for women several times over and suicidal ideation by at least 50 percent compared to live birth. Yet patients who are considering abortion are not routinely informed of these risks.

Plus abortion has had dire consequences for black communities, where there’s a planned Parenthood on almost every corner. Why do you think their demographic remains at or below 13%, ever wonder that? It’s as Margaret Sanger, the KKK founder of Planned Parenthood wanted for African Americans and the disabled, eugenics. She’s got her wish.

So, women are lied to at the ballot box and then treated as fodder for the billion dollar abortion machine that benefits the Democrat party the most. Well done you.

I don’t agree with everything you wrote but the use of abortion as birth control is undeniable. Not many people know Margaret Sanger was a eugenicist and wanted to decrease the birth rate in African American communities in particular.

Sanger had some problematic things about her, yes. She also got birth control to a huge number of impoverished women who were literally dying because they had too many children.

This is true. I'm a 60yr old guy who agrees all should get to say their piece. Eugenics is so terrible, I revile Sanger, but there's no arguing with the fact that Planned Parenthood has gotten A TON of OBGYN care where it's needed most, IMO. I would bet many thousands of lives have been saved. I wish abortions were more rare, but feel it is a necessary evil and a woman's right.

PP has given birth controls to millions - including men(condoms) as well as other types of health care.

There is no such thing as a person without faults. Sanger had hers, but the good she did for getting birth control to women, mostly outweighs hers.

Which has absolutely no relevance to abortion in general.

In other words, I want it legal just in case I need one but shame on the multitude who are making it not "rare."

Can't decide if that position is more elitist authoritarian or just simply psychopathic. Perhaps a little of both.

The Protect Reproductive Options Act that Governor Walz signed in 2023 guarantees the right to abort a developing child at any stage of pregnancy, for any reason.

You either think that elective, late-term abortions (even up to the last day of pregnancy) should be allowed, as they are in Minnesota, or you don't. Instead of honestly stating your belief in this regard, you evade the question by saying (to paraphrase) "No one does that anyway!"

If you think they're ethical, there would be no point in claiming that they're rare or non-existent - just say you think they're ethical. If you think they're unethical, then you should explain why you support a law that guarantees the right to do something you consider unethical.

PDX is a dyed in the wool Democratic party loyalist regardless of issue, ethics or legal precedence. Vote blue no matter who type who gleefully supported and then denied government censorship occurred to silence debate during the dog days of Covid. Getting any honest answer out of PDX isn't possible. Like most Democrat loyalists, the story keeps changing.

Have you even bothered to look up the actual data on abortion? Late term abortions are not actually a thing unless there is something very wrong with the fetus. It's literally just a bunch of bs that forced birthers love to pretend exists.

Expand full comment
BookWench's avatar

Then why is it legal in 7 states? Why are Dems attempting to legalize it in all 50 states? If late term abortions are ONLY used “if there is something very wrong with the fetus,” then why would the baby be set aside and allowed to die? This procedure would have simply been a pre-term delivery, in which the baby can be saved, in most cases. In late term abortions, there is NO attempt to save the baby; it is simply set aside to die - INFANTICIDE.

You are doing a stellar job of defending infanticide, PDX!

Your inability to address the issue itself is particularly entertaining, but ya might want to take a look at the MN bill signed into law by Walz, in which infants "born alive" during late term abortions are deprived of care. This makes it INFANTICIDE.

Make Infanticide Great Again, Dems!!!
