Other than Matt, I’m not seeing a lot of coverage of this, even amongst independent journalists. Thanks for beating the drum. This topic needs wider distribution.

Call your Senators NOW! The Congress has just trashed the 4th amendment!

Yes, it can be stopped. But not through the legislature or the courts. It must be tried in the courts of public opinion and resisted through civil disobedience. That’s the only path I can see. But first we have to overcome the Nation of Bovine Complacency. (Thanks Mr. Kirn, for that excellent phrase).

My head has been hurting more and more as I read and listen more and more and it's only April. I imagine whether or not Trump is in prison if he manages to become President his Impeachment will start on or about February 2025. Since that is less than a year from now perhaps we should worry about that now and stay off the phone, jic. No more texting either. Only Smoke Signals.

Our rulers have seen themselves as gods since the bomb gave them the god-like power to end the world in 1945.

It was inevitable that they would want to formalize their god-like power of omniscience with this legislation.

The water reached boiling point long ago. We're only now beginning to realize it.

i'd recommend elisabeth gotein's twitter, according to her this was to monitor specifically one kind of service - but she never says which one it is. could be vpn's, could be musk's starlink?

vpn's would be interesting because so many of them aren't in the usa for this specific reason.

I wrote to my AZ senators asking them to vote "no" on this FISA reauthorization bill. Got a 650-word dense, single-spaced email in response from Senator Mark Kelly defending the bill and his co-sponsorship of it. I was appalled.

If it's not too much trouble, such "bio-available" (lol) follow-ups are very much appreciated. You, Racket, never know when a reader could used a redundant pointer to a big idea.

I'm guessing NPR will cover this no sooner than Fox. Or MSNBC. Or CNN. Are there any large real news networks reporting real news anymore?

They haven't been real news networks for a very long time.

Can you help me formulate a sentence to explain this to my senators when I call to complain about this provision? I called about 702 reauthorization, but not sure how to explain this provision succinctly. Maybe a blurb I can email them?
