For six years I have said to every liberal with ears to hear, all this Russia talk, you are being led by the agents of neoliberal Regime Change into war against nuclear Russia. For six years they have replied, paraphrasing, no one wants war against Russia, Putin-stooge!

michael t nola's avatar

Those are the same people whom I've told for more than 20 years that lesser of two evils voting eventuates in supporting the policies and people you at one time despised. I give you George Bush and every Trump hating neocon being lionized by them.

No fan of cons or Trump voters either, but trying to tell a lib anything, when they know damn well they're smarter than everyone else, is wasted breath.

William Hunter Duncan's avatar

At the peak of evolution they believe, the white working class and poor of America lagging far behind and little but misogynist racist bigot xenophobe retrogrades, they are certain. Minorities and trans pure as the proverbial driven snow and eternal victims besides. The word of CDC FDA CIA FBI NYT WaPo CNN gospel on all things gender to economics to war. It's not censure if Big Tech monopolists do it. Cancel culture is justice in it's purest form.

Their perfectly coordinated goose-stepping march suggests most of these major network talking heads get their narrative from the same place: the "Intel Community Wire Service".

CapnHal's avatar

The apostrophe in "it's" is used for an "it is" contraction in this case, so the proper form is "its".

"So there’s actually no way to tell Noam Chomsky that he’s (please forgive my rudeness) full of shit, because he knows everything, so if you tell him something that he doesn’t know, it must be wrong, there being nothing that he doesn’t know."

Everyone, no matter their intelligence or education, has a blind spot of some kind. For Chomsky, who so accurately depicts the failures of the liberal establishment, it's his inability to remember that when in the voting booth. This also applies to Thomas Frank, who will go on and on about the failures of the lib establishment and accurately state they will never change if we keep voting for them and then do so anyway. As an aside, I've never seen anyone who fits the description of an alligator person, all mouth and no ears, than him.

Perhaps even more damaging than the policies these modern day libs create once in power is that these corporatist, triangulating ideas become the leftward limit of acceptable US politics.

While some want to place all blame on the Repubs and their voters, to me, those libs who have endorsed an ever more corporatist/US hegemonist foreign policy agenda cloaked in meaningless social/woke platitudes, are the real culprits as they have effectively removed any progressive policies from consideration.

Phisto Sobanii's avatar

Chomsky’s defense of voting for Hilary Clinton was so disappointing.

OldMillennialGuy's avatar

What I found annoying about Thomas Frank is that he'd accurately depict the establishment left's failures while leveling the same shallow criticisms at Trump that the establishment did. I never heard him talk about Trump's actual problems aside from "wow, what a moron this guy is".

William Hunter Duncan's avatar

It is quite astounding how Covid has revealed the authoritarian core of a great many intellectuals in America. Noam in siding with Fauci is siding with corporatist psychopaths. A sad capstone to a brilliant career. Though Miller reminds us, when it comes to seriously questioning psychopaths, Chomsky has often been on the wrong side of actual history.

Trollificus's avatar

Didn't they use the "conspiracy theorist" smear against you? Because that's what the term was created for: a tool to dismiss anyone who puts together too many pieces of what they're doing.

And by "they", of course I mean the Bilderberg Illuminati Lizard-Men who run the WEF from the tunnels below Davos.

William Hunter Duncan's avatar

"They" did, often, but that was mostly regular American PMC.

The whole Russia thing is Democrats' version of QAnon.

Dick WB Tracy's avatar

Only worse, as it was vouched for by our intelligence establishment - and the lamestream media.

I wrote something similar in a NYT comment 6 hours ago and they told me to fuck off (never posted it).

I got banned by them 7 years ago. And I was a subscriber!

Running Burning Man's avatar

It is a shithole paper. I’ve been banned but I no longer care. Anytime a link sends me there I get a “you’ve watched enough. Subscribe “. I then hit the “x” and leave the page.

I finally no longer could cough up the $9 here for the Sunday Edition so I could do the crossword…..

The NYT comment forum... man, you take your life into your own hands in there!! 😬

QAnon seems more like intelligence operation aimed at isolating Trumpists from Centrist Republicans/Dems....

Ronald Vennell's avatar

Excepting that QAnon is a right wing fringe of the right wing fringe and the Russia thing is mainstream Democrat.

No it's not. We've always been at war with Eurasia, and Eastasia has always been our ally. You are the dead.

You're going to be sent to Room 101 which is now Room 202 due to Bidenflation.

Russia, Russia, Russia is the Democratic response to everything and anyone they don’t like. They are so lame. Adam Schiff-for-brains swore for three and a half years that he had “proof” of Trump colluding with Russia. The Mueller Report and the IG Report both stated clearly that Trump and/or his staff had no collusion with Russia. So where is the punishment for a creep who lied to citizens and Congress for three and a half years?

michael888's avatar

Schiff is a full DC Creature. Laws and accountability are for the bottom 90% of Americans only.

Feral Finster's avatar

Once upon a time, not so long ago, any development that the Establishment of the day didn't like could be automatically blamed on Jews.

No evidence needed. Because Jews.

Today, we are so much more enlightened. We do not automatically blame Jews. Instead, we automatically blame Russia.

FOR CLARITY: I do not endorse anti-Semitism, just I do not endorse anti-Russian bigotry.

michael t nola's avatar

He's receiving the same punishment Bush/Cheney et al received for lying us into Iraq, Obama for Libya/Syria and WS for crashing our economy.

Sue's avatar

They should receive that punishment behind bars.

michael t nola's avatar

On this planet, especially in the US, authority and accountability are inversely proportional.

Mrs. McFarland's avatar

I think the strategy is as long as the overwhelming “ proof” is never presented, then it remains the overwhelming proof. Clever that Schiffty....

Mrs. McFarland's avatar

And what was the young man’s name who knew that there was no Russian Collusion? That it was all generated internally? Frightening what all has transpired.

Sue's avatar

So sad that a nation of sheep accepted that nonsense for theee and a half years.

"Russia, Russia, Russia" gives me Brady Bunch flashbacks. Ouch.

I believe the best solution to preventing these horrible, rotten politicians from ruining our republic is by way of traditional Native American methods: Schiff, Pelosi, et al, should be forced to run a gauntlet of angry citizens outfitted with sticks and switches, out of the Capitol Dome, down Pennsylvania Avenue, into the Potomac River and told to never, ever, ever return to D.C. again.

Running Burning Man's avatar

Ah, you are channeling Game of Thrones! Cersei Lannister walking with shorn hair through a mob chanting "Shame. Shame. Shame". A delightful image for Pencil Neck, Pelosi, and crew, though the image of either naked is pretty cringe worthy.

Patrick's avatar

But but but January 6!

Jeff Keener's avatar

The most impressive thing about January 6 is that after decades of people saying "Throw the bums out!", a group of Americans gathered in Washington on that day to actually throw the bums out.

Seriously, these montages are seriously so good at revealing the strategy of repeating your message again and again, with a suit and tie and symmetrically pleasing face and professional grooming and dermatologically enhancing lighting and make-up. So good, Matt, so good!

Failing empire needs a foreign villain to distract the public from the domestic looting that is turning us all into serfs. Plus, Russia is resource rich and the gazillionaires want the profits from those resources and they’ll risk a nuclear war to get them. They thought they had that country under their control until Putin showed up and kicked them out. Biden just blurted out the other day that regime change in Russia is what the war in Ukraine is about. This stuff is so obvious, you have to be willfully blind to miss it. A lot if willfully blind sheep in the West unfortunately.

OldMillennialGuy's avatar

To reinforce your point, Biden's regime change statement was almost certainly scripted.

Adam Schiff is the epitome of a disgusting politician. The worst of the worst.

Trollificus's avatar

There 𝑎𝑟𝑒 worse humans, though. Among them the newspersons I heard after Schiff's boring, repetitive, content-free "impeachment" speech, calling it "One for the ages!" and "A ringing indictment, that will be referenced in history books!", Incredible.

How could a human become that low? That's like...like...lickin' a snakes' taint!

(this was a speech where he repeated the word "evidence" like he repeats "Kremlin" in the video...many, many times, often with a gesture to a pile of papers nearby, implying that 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑠 were the very evidence of which he spoke (there was no evidence presented, in the speech or later, from those papers).

mcelroyj's avatar

Appreciate the salient points here, well done. The propaganda is so transparently poor that its almost as if they have pushed the button switching from "quality" to "quantity" in some bat-shit insane repetition loop.

Scott Ritter might be a good guest to secure as he finds an interesting way to cut through the propaganda (Russian plan or playbook stuff). Also, you might consider Dr. Aaron Good and his American Exception podcast. His take on why we are de-dollarizing (sanctioning Russia financially with great costs to us) and why we provoked the Russians into this conflict are layered and very interesting. https://www.patreon.com/americanexception

Ah, I just listened to Scott Ritter and Michael Hudson on the Global Research News Hour and am planning my next episode around it. I've done two on MH already but he keeps hitting the bullseye, and then splitting his previous arrow to hit it again. SR was great.

Very few can truth tell like Scott Ritter. Michael Hudson is one of less than a handful of real economists. Virtually every economics school in the west teaches a fantastical version of economics that bears no relationship to real life. Also very politically astute with a depth of historical economics unrivalled.

Tereza Coraggio's avatar

I feel like I read a lot of Scott Ritter in the aftermath of 911 and lost track of him since. My loss, since this interview gave a more open-eyed perspective than I've heard elsewhere. Hudson was a major influence on my book, where I have a section called World on FIRE and chapters on Attack of the Petrodactyls and the Petropocalypse. Owning the oil and gas is just chump change, the big game hunters are after the currency it trades in. And Putin just bagged the petroruble.

Sue's avatar

Russia has good reason for not wanting Ukraine to join NATO. NATO membership would allow us to put weapons right on Russia’s border. How did we feel when we found Russian weapons in Cuba? Russia has always believed in spheres of influence, as has the US (the Truman Doctrine). The west has been picking off satellite countries for decades. The original twelve NATO countries have grown to 30 countries. Now we arrive at Ukraine, a country right on Russia’s border. Putin asked for only one thing…..that Ukraine not join NATO. Biden never negotiated in good faith on that issue. This is Biden’s war.

I have it on good authority that Jimmy Dore sold his Pasadena, Ca. home and bought one in Studio City, Ca. solely to no longer be represented by The Honorable Mr. Schiff.

Trollificus's avatar

And then he showered, for three days.

Jimmy has a lot of integrity for a damn socialist, I must say.

michael t nola's avatar

Integrity is far more important than whatever beliefs anyone has.

Maybe it's ego or a sense of inferiority, but too many people of any political persuasion seems less interested in accepting reality than having to be right, especially when they know they're wrong.

Mrs. McFarland's avatar

Bravo Matt O!! Schiff is such a slimy slimeball of slime...im still waiting for the also oft referenced “ overwhelming evidence right in front of us”... and funny that Schiff has never once been asked to name or produce said “ evidence.” And yet, he wins re election every damn time.... and the media ... oh, that would be me being repetitive.

Trollificus's avatar

Cool. I just referenced his famous, famously pathetic, and inexplicably praised "impeachment speech" above. "Overwhelming evidence". Wow.
