I wonder if professor Hayden ever made it to a construction site to witness steel's erection? I doubt it, lest she have the vapors and lose her skills for turgid prose.

I want to go on record that, in my opinion, the retracted episode of 30 Rock is the funniest episode of the entire series, and the "Alfie and Abner" sketch featuring Jon Hamm in blackface is maybe the funniest sketch in the episode. Does it matter that the blackface was done in the context of poking fun at NBC for having "an unwritten rule against having more than one black person in a show--a rule that is still in place today"? Does it matter that Tracy Morgan's character was portrayed as an intelligent, accomplished actor suffering through the insulting stereotype of Jon Hamm's blackface character? Apparently not. There are so many other great sketches in that episode, too, and they are all gone now.
