I've always found it fascinating that people say:

A: "You must vote! Democracy depends in it! It doesn't matter who you vote for, participation is the key to democracy! Think of all the country's where they don't get to vote. Be an American! Participate in the system!

B "OK, I voted"

A"OK. so you did you vote for"

B: "Oh, I chose to vote third party"

A "Well fuck you. Why did you bother to vote at all?"

I'm more prone to say you mustn't vote. Democracy depends on it.

I agree. No reason to reward my abusers and help them maintain the illusion they are acting with my consent.

I think the greatest disparity is between those who do and don't vote. Calling one vote wasted and another vote important makes little sense to me.

The point of GOTV campaigns is to herd NPCs into subsconsciously voting for the candidates with best media and/or ads.

It's part of a thoroughly sick, incestuous, long-running system: More than two decades ago, I unsuccessfully argued this point against a UPenn prof about his assignment for us to write up a GOTV public-service ad concept.
