"Pride" in one's country is a condition that ideally should be extirpated by the 6th grade for any citizen in any country..

One that is essentially meaningless.

Be honest, it's how you resolve your participation in a system headed by greedy, crooked murderers.

Enthused to see you unchained from the basement radiator and on the prowl. It's late where I dwell---keep an eye on things until I get back.

Ok, you win. You've exposed me. I'm a lousy American. Once a model patriot, now reduced to a lonely, snivelling citizen adrift in a random substack comment thread. Now use your connections and help me get my passport renewed, see who you can massage at the State Department to get my application for New Zealand citizenship moved to the front of the queue, and have one of your people get on the horn to Peter Thiel to see if if he's still hiring---I'm told he's advertising on Indeed for an Executive Cabin Boy for one of his yachts moored down at Mission Bay. See what you can do before the Star-Spangled Banner ends and the ball game begins....

"You 'win' "?

It's not a "contest." It's a matter of trying to see clearly and of helping others to do the same.

One's honest, fair, and well-intentioned critics are one's friends in a way that the Obamas of the world are so manifestly _not_. Isn't that, after all, the essential lesson here?

Don't be simultaneously boorish and clueless. Might hurt yourself and others.

Wow.

Now, advocating the accepting of "honest, fair, and well-intentioned( criticism) on the premise that such critics are one's better friends now constitutes "boorish" behavior?

( from Merriam-Webster)

"Boorish" :

boorish, churlish, loutish, clownish mean uncouth in manners or appearance. boorish implies rudeness of manner due to insensitiveness to others' feelings and unwillingness to be agreeable. a drunk's boorish behavior churlish suggests surliness, unresponsiveness, and ungraciousness. churlish remarks loutish implies bodily awkwardness together with stupidity. a loutish oaf clownish suggests ill-bred awkwardness, ignorance or stupidity, ungainliness, and often a propensity for absurd antics. an adolescent's clownish conduct."

How "far" we've come! LOL!

Just try, make a little effort, be a bit more alert to the concept---to both recognize humor and how to properly respond to it. It's a critically necessary piece of armament for the well-rounded individual wishing to both survive in this world, and hoping, probably against reasonable odds, to avoid an untimely crack-up.

I actually logged on because I thought I caught a faint whiff of humor flowing from the busy mind of "Readersaurus." That's not a bad stab at humor at all! I'd add "for a novice," but I don't want to discourage further efforts. Sage advice from a veteran? Take it slow at the outset--- it's a dangerous business, fraught with both peril and heartbreak. But: practice, practice, practice!

And what do you think or your authoritarian country that supports your government without question regardless of their open contempt for all of us?

The government shows nothing but disgust for us every day, yet our unquestioning worship keeps them in power.
