Actually, I like the idea of a lawsuits for damages. First, a lawsuit has a lower evidentiary standard than a criminal action (preponderance of the evidence, rather than beyond a reasonable doubt). We really have no idea of the necessary levels of vitamin D (beyond that for preventing rickets), generally higher levels than recommended are safe. Vitamin D is the only fat soluble vitamin which is converted to an inactive form if the level get too high.

mRNA offers potentially a cheap way to make gene therapy therapeutics. Unfortunately, we don't really know that much about which genes to silence (or increase) except possibly certain genetic diseases.
The toxicity of the mRNA vaccines and the mRNA platform itself should have been worked out in stage 4 cancer and other diseases with poor prognosis rather than giving the mRNA vaccines universally. They were neither safe nor effective.

That's how much of the media has approached the recently released Fauci diary. Critics point to entries they believe are difficult to reconcile with Dr. Fauci's public statements and congressional testimony, particularly regarding the possibility that COVID-19 originated in a Wuhan laboratory. Yet many news accounts stop short of asking whether those apparent inconsistencies deserve closer scrutiny.
Reasonable people can disagree about what the diary proves. It is fair to say that a diary is not the same thing as a sworn admission of wrongdoing. But it is equally fair to ask whether the diary raises questions that were previously dismissed too quickly. If the standard is that nothing counts unless Fauci literally wrote, "Today I lied to the American people," then the standard has become so demanding that almost no amount of circumstantial evidence could ever satisfy it.
Exercising one's Fifth Amendment rights is not, by itself, evidence of guilt, and it should not be treated that way. Even so, when viewed alongside the controversy surrounding the presidential pardon he ultimately received, it's understandable why many people believe these developments warrant more skeptical coverage than they have received.
This is a bit pedantic but I've read many comments from lawyers who caution the requirement to discount exercising the 5th as evidence of guilt only applies to criminal defendants, and judges routinely instruct juries in civil trials they can make reasonable inferences about refusal to provide testimony.

It's done to avoid self-incrimination. How can that not be evidence of guilt? It's like saying, "I'm not going to speak, because if I do I'll provide evidence of my guilt, so I'm going to keep silent and force justice to prove my guilt. Maybe I'll get lucky."

Suppose someone is murdered, and you had a well-known feud with the victim. The police ask where you were that Saturday afternoon. The truth is that you were riding your motorcycle, hiking in the woods, or visiting your mother's grave—alone, with no receipts, no witnesses, and no way to prove it.
Then investigators produce an old acquaintance who says she's fairly sure she saw you in a crowd downtown, about a mile from the murder scene. Is she mistaken? Maybe. Can you prove she is? Probably not.
Before you answered any questions, the evidence against you was weak. At most, the police could say you might have been somewhere in the general area, along with hundreds or thousands of other people. But once you gave a statement, they could attack your credibility. "He said he was in the woods, but a witness places him downtown. Why would an innocent man lie about where he was?"
That's precisely why the Fifth Amendment exists. It isn't based on the idea that only guilty people remain silent. It's based on the recognition that innocent people can be mistaken, have imperfect memories, or simply be unable to prove where they were or what they were doing. A person shouldn't be forced into making statements that the government can later use to create the appearance of guilt.
Remaining silent isn't proof of innocence, any more than it's proof of guilt. It simply preserves the principle that the burden of proving a crime rests with the accuser, not with the accused. In a free society, the government must prove its case with evidence. It shouldn't be able to shift the burden by compelling someone to help build the case against himself.
There's an old Chinese proverb that goes something like, "If a man puts himself in front of finger of suspicion, he should expect to get poked." That's the way it works. It may be unfortunate for people who get caught up in suspicion, but you don't deal with that by keeping silent. Of course get a lawyer, but doing a blanket "fuck you" to the system is NOT the way it works.

In reading people's comments, I am surprised they believe anything will come of this when half the people (and most of the press) are going along with this being swept under the rug or rationalized away. Actually, I like the idea of a lawsuits for damages. First, a lawsuit has a lower evidentiary standard than a criminal action (preponderance of the evidence, rather than beyond a reasonable doubt). Second there are a whole lot of classes which could form the basis for class action suits: anyone who got COVID (follow the funding trail from the NIH through the EcoHealth Alliance to the Wuhan Institute for Virology), anyone who had bad side-effect from vaccines they were forced to take on pain of losing employment, every parent whose childrens' social development and education were blighted by pointless lockdowns. Now can we find some good trial lawyers who would take the cases either pro bono or on a contingency only basis?

HCQ is approved since 2014 for treating type 2 diabetes in India (my doctor wouldn't let me try it?) The main toxicity for HCQ is rare retinal toxicity with chronic (years) use in autoimmune diseases. Of course, "dose makes the poison" and if you go far above therapeutic levels you can get toxicity (even with water or table salt).
The Elderly, the only group at major risk from Covid-- Israel said they had NO Covid deaths in healthy people under age 50-- are often deficient in vitamins and nutrients and probably more would have survived with supplements.
Heavily pigmented people far from the Equator are almost all deficient in vitamin D3 and early on Covid infections were shown to be 10-fold more common in the vitamin D deficient. Instead of encouraging vitamin D3 supplementation (probably for better health generally in this population, the CDC emphasized the danger of too much of this fat-soluble vitamin (water soluble nutrients are generally peed out and need to be constantly replenished). We really have no idea of the necessary levels of vitamin D (beyond that for preventing rickets), generally higher levels than recommended are safe. Vitamin D is the only fat soluble vitamin which is converted to an inactive form if the level get too high.

Trump learned of him via his appearances on a certain network news show. He was rather appalled when Trump started referencing “ chlorine “ and he backed off all media requests for interviews because all they wanted to ask him about was Trump all the while his own state medical board and hospitals were threatening to pull his license and privileges….an ID doc who cut his teeth in the late 80s on AIDS where he first encountered Fauci’s autocratic manner. His father, also a respected ID doctor diagnosed me in 95/96 with late Lyme which did not respond to 3 weeks amoxicillin and ultimately PlaQUINel and Cipro knocked it out. I had been to doctors for 8 months and not once tested for insect borne infections.

mRNA offers potentially a cheap way to make gene therapy therapeutics. Unfortunately, we don't really know that much about which genes to silence (or increase) except possibly certain genetic diseases.
The toxicity of the mRNA vaccines and the mRNA platform itself should have been worked out in stage 4 cancer and other diseases with poor prognosis rather than giving the mRNA vaccines universally. They were neither safe nor effective.

Lots of those pharma ads are unintentionally funny: they show a bunch of people smiling and engaging in what look like some random selection of ordinary everyday activities, while meanwhile a somber voice drones on about all the horrible possible side effects of whatever drug they're pushing. I also think they may be running out of new names for the drugs, since they seem to be getting goofier and goofier. "Wegovy? Sure, let me get my coat!".
As more-or-less a libertarian/free-marketeer, I'm not sure these ads should be banned. They may provide useful information for some patients and health care providers. What a free-market requires is that the ads do not seriously misrepresent the pros and cons of their products.
Another observation about TV ads in general: nowadays they all seem to feature dogs. I can imagine conversations between a company and the ad agency they have hired:
Company: "Why does your proposed ad have a dog in it? Our product has nothing to do with dogs."
Ad agency: "Our research has determined that dogs elicit positive responses by viewers that lead to, on average, a 23% increase in sales revenue".

That depends. If the dogs are domestic (rather than imported), selected without bias in favor of or against any specific breeds, and properly compensated with treats, affection, equal pay for equal work, paid family leave, good healthcare, etc., then I think it's okay.

The comments I saw on the CBS news YouTube post regarding the Fauci trial were from an alternate universe. Every comment was Trump Trump Trump...blaming everything on him and talking about all of his other mistakes rather than focusing on the real story: Fauci and his cover-up.

If they admitted that acquired (natural) immunity was a thing, then millions of people would have (correctly) made the decision -- like I did -- that the best thing to do would be to get infected ASAP and get over the bug without passing it on. That actually turned you into the 'firebreak' they promised the vaccines were.
It still took me 20 months and an infected "vaccinated" friend before I got the virus, and I got over it in like 3 days exactly as predicted. No covid since.

This is a bit pedantic but I've read many comments from lawyers who caution the requirement to discount exercising the 5th as evidence of guilt only applies to criminal defendants, and judges routinely instruct juries in civil trials they can make reasonable inferences about refusal to provide testimony.

Suppose someone is murdered, and you had a well-known feud with the victim. The police ask where you were that Saturday afternoon. The truth is that you were riding your motorcycle, hiking in the woods, or visiting your mother's grave—alone, with no receipts, no witnesses, and no way to prove it.
Then investigators produce an old acquaintance who says she's fairly sure she saw you in a crowd downtown, about a mile from the murder scene. Is she mistaken? Maybe. Can you prove she is? Probably not.
Before you answered any questions, the evidence against you was weak. At most, the police could say you might have been somewhere in the general area, along with hundreds or thousands of other people. But once you gave a statement, they could attack your credibility. "He said he was in the woods, but a witness places him downtown. Why would an innocent man lie about where he was?"
That's precisely why the Fifth Amendment exists. It isn't based on the idea that only guilty people remain silent. It's based on the recognition that innocent people can be mistaken, have imperfect memories, or simply be unable to prove where they were or what they were doing. A person shouldn't be forced into making statements that the government can later use to create the appearance of guilt.
Remaining silent isn't proof of innocence, any more than it's proof of guilt. It simply preserves the principle that the burden of proving a crime rests with the accuser, not with the accused. In a free society, the government must prove its case with evidence. It shouldn't be able to shift the burden by compelling someone to help build the case against himself.
There's an old Chinese proverb that goes something like, "If a man puts himself in front of finger of suspicion, he should expect to get poked." That's the way it works. It may be unfortunate for people who get caught up in suspicion, but you don't deal with that by keeping silent. Of course get a lawyer, but doing a blanket "fuck you" to the system is NOT the way it works.
