A mediocre op-ed writer who left the NYT.

How do mediocre op-ed writers at the NYT get their jobs as mediocre op-ed writers at the NYT in the first place? A complete mystery.

Tom Friedman established the standard.

Actually Weiss left the NY Times six weeks later: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/story/2020-07-14/bari-weiss-new-york-times-resignation

The uproar over Senator Cotton's oped was just one of the reasons.

Bari is a neocon/neoliberal, and a vapid one at that. I wouldn't martyr her.

Well that's a nice little gang up. Guess she got hers for having opinions that annoyed that wonderful cancel staff, the ersatz Ministry of Truth, at the Times.

Just to provide the other side of the story, her masterful

resignation letter, in her own words: https://www.bariweiss.com/resignation-letter.

She's an AIPAC plant and has her own cancel culture history trying to cancel everyone living human being in Palestine.

Her hypocrisy is just mind blowing.

Good riddance to apartheid supporting rubbish.

The toads again.

Not everyone is a toad here Susan. Norm Finkelstein has a critical view of Weiss and has it public. Seems he thinks she is a big part of the cancel culture faux left.

Its not just Weiss though. When Naomi Klein (someone I have a lot of respect for) gets hit from the left (see Blumenthal's take down of her connection to the deep pockets of elite DNC after the Michael Moore movie debacle with Josh Fox/Bill McKibben) and she goes silent, it tells you that we have some corporate poseurs in our midst (see TYT).

When being interviewed by Joe Rogan, Bari called Assad Putin's toady, and when asked to substantiate the claim couldn't even define the word 'toady' or what she meant.

By that standard, we'd have no journalists. She is a good writer, hardly vapid.

When someone is beating the drums of war with words they don't even understand I'm done with them. It does make her vapid, she's an empty shell repeating someone else's talking point. Just give me the puppeteer so I know who I'm dealing with. Besides, an ivy league grad who doesn't know the word 'toady'? Somebody's daddy must be a donor.

I think people who have never lived and worked in places like NYC or DC can be excused for not quite grasping how powerful familial nepotism is in those places. I'm sure there's nepotism in Kansas City or Chattanooga, too, but it is a primary control mechanism in DC.

Well, "somebody's daddy" is a former rug merchant in Pittsburgh. I suppose he got her the job with the NYT.
