They always stay steps ahead on the public discourse. At the moment we notice there's war against us (that is, publicly speak of it, not just act against it), we are declared to be *starting* the war (and, of course, that we are stupid, evil, and/or crazy). It applies everywhere, such as: their reaction to pushback against CRT's effect on immature minds in elementary schools; or their decade-plus M.O. in Ukraine. We must up our game, and yesterday.

I'm actually surprised Taibbi (and his team?) hadn't put in more "PR" work/time on this, strategizing the exact pithy zinger responses against a fairly predictable spew of garbage, to better spur wake-up calls to viewers. (Nothing against his work! It's extremely admirable he(/they) are on the front lines.) Instead, he seemed to rely on the caught-by-surprise response to do the work. IOW, on the 20th-century method of straight-man responses, expecting most people would instantly notice absurdities.

But I think that's unlikely to work sufficiently on the majority of a by-now thoroughly indoctrinated audience, who might instead just think Taibbi's slow (i.e stupid). His approach worked decades ago, but today, counterintuitively, it's not a good (enough) look. You can't just walk in there with facts...
