At least they acknowledged “journalist” Matt Taibbi…..unlike some American congresswoman

RioRosie's avatar

And that American so-called "congresswoman" (actually a non-voting delegate to Congress from the US Virgin Islands) received campaign contributions from...wait for it... occasional US Virgin Island resident Jeffrey Epstein.

MG's avatar

Didn't she take a phone call (or text) from Epstein during a hearing?

RioRosie's avatar

Yep! She's the one!

mhj's avatar

And, iirc, before she was the delegate o Congress she was an attorney who handled a case for him, with connections to the local USVI political hierarchs.

Glitterpuppy's avatar

Yes. He mouthed words for her to regurgitate.

E J Hermann's avatar

She really sent Matt over the edge me thinks - with visits from the IRS - glad you persevered Matt.

RioRosie's avatar

I watched that hearing "live." When that airhead was recognized as the "ranking member," I said WTF? She's from the USVI, which isn't a STATE! How can she be a "ranking member?

And then she insulted Matt.

Whatta fool.

Dave's avatar

“So called” American congresswoman

E J Hermann's avatar

Yes these people/enablers of Epstein - complete sellouts - she is not the only one - are possibly the greatest threat to democracy

DaveL's avatar

Non-voting, buddy of Epstein, congresswoman…

Don Reed's avatar

02/14/26: I regret that Matt didn't respond by saying that her credentials as a congresswoman were "equally imaginary."

Glitterpuppy's avatar

The rules of congress protect members from any charges of slander or liability while they shoot off their mouths. But not us citizens

02/15/26: Who listens to them?

Distantly (very) related: Recommended story. Old, not yet ancient, timeless. A quick and easy read, amusing and affordable:

https://www.abebooks.com/Goldenballs-Ingrams-Richard-Hodder-Stoughton/31965575207/bd

***

As for the Guthrie Kidnapping Gushing on TV All Channels Incessantly:

If you thought it was bad to have ONE Nancy Grace [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Grace] in America, isn’t it wonderful now that we have a thousand “journalists” auditioning around the clock to become the next N.G.?

NBC News CEO: “Our ratings are spectacular! Starting in June, everyone’s mother on the Today Show will be kidnapped, one by one, once a month. The ransom demands will be scaled according to corporate rank.”

NBC Brownnoser: “Wonderful! You’re on fire today, sir!”

NBC CEO: “Thank you, but I can’t take credit for the idea. Matt Lauer phoned it in. He also said that it was a shame we bulldozed his office, what a great story it would have been to have discovered our kidnapped mom all trussed up under his old desk, next to the button that silently locked his office door.”

MG's avatar

But then she posted things to social media, which is not protected. I thought Matt was suing her?

Glitterpuppy's avatar

I seem to recall that

Now since her Epstein connection has been made manifest, the Democrats have put her back into bullpen.

Granny62's avatar

Wow- but not shocking at all. I wonder if the British people are as jaded as we are regarding their government. The Russia as villains trope just doesn’t work anymore.

Jake's avatar

Well Granny, our government isn’t willfully allowing thousands of women to be raped by people that have no legal right to be here. So I doubt we’re as jaded.

Marie Silvani's avatar

Maybe not thousands but we are having women raped and murdered by people illegally here

Jake's avatar

Nope. It’s THOUSANDS. If the BBC and its biased staff are saying “up to 9,000” you can make a safe bet that it’s far more than that. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvgv5vdqzdko

Your point is well taken but it's worth mentioning that the USG was in a similar business up until about 13 months ago. The major difference is that most of the victims didn't have a right to be here either (we're also talking about a lesser degree of "willfulness" on the part of the gov). And unfortunately I would bet that many (most?) of the ~250k boys and girls the Biden Admin "lost track of" later ended up being trafficked northward and victimized by US citizens.

Jane's avatar

Dry satire.

Granny62's avatar

It’s not a contest I am happy about, are you? you sure about that? And what about the gangs raping young girls in the UK? It sure seems as though the regular schmoes aren’t confident.

Nick's avatar

I think he was being sarcastic and agrees with you, but he worded it clumsily.

Granny62's avatar

Thank you- I was slow on the uptake! I apologized elsewhere on the thread but in case Nick missed it- MEA CULPA!:)

Shelley's avatar

UK substack called TCW, The Conservative Woman has numerous writers that cover 4 to 5 topics every day. A few live in the US now. Its commenters appear very intelligent. They want a Trump on their side of the pond, as Starmer is a low-life weasel.

NNTX's avatar

It is a great resource.

While the spying on journalists and unfounded (and tired) claims of Russian delusion are terrible, they only presage the ongoing censorship and intimidation of UK residents that object to the ongoing literal rape of their country, by Moslem immigrants and rape gangs. Note that Starmer was head of the Crown Prosecution Service that declined to meaningfully prosecute those raping young, vulnerable UK working class girls. Those stories are horrific.

And now the UK parliament has declined to add a statutory inquiry into the matter!

The Epstein angle shows how complicit these members of the “great and good” class easily escape real consequences (I predict the creeps Mandelson and McSweeneys will find new gigs with WEF and other globalist enterprises). Meanwhile regular citizens are jailed for tweets of frustration.

Can’t believe our old ally and founding country has sunk so low.

Glitterpuppy's avatar

“ we knew it was a snake when we picked it up”

Tack60's avatar

Well, they were the folks that put debtors in prison so remediation is not the goal. Of course, it can't be if you don't admit the problem.

NNTX's avatar

Not sure exactly what you mean.

I don’t think that posting on social media ideas that some find obnoxious or bad is a problem requiring remediation.

That is my point.

City of London, located on 677-acre, or one square mile within Greater London, is an independent sovereign city-state, not part of the UK.

Washington D.C., a ten mile square sovereign corporate entity, which is not part of the US.

The Vatican, who has had the best intelligence service in the world for many years, is guarded by Swiss Guards, and shares no laws with Italy, and is located on 120 acres or roughly 0.19 square miles, making it the smallest independent state in the world.

These three entities have their own laws and their own identities and together are the ruling empire.

Granny62's avatar

Cesare di Monte Calvi's avatar

Granny, dear. STASI was a Mickey Mouse operation in comparison. You have been, as the "spy," already classified in all of 1,200 ++ "intelligence" agencies, sub-agencies, contractors and what not.

This is what makes it fun. We are all "enemies" unless we follow The Party.

lizzy36's avatar

They will be tomorrow.

Starmer just made at speech in Munich where he declared Britain was going to take a Mulligan on Brexit and get back into bed with the EU. Britain is also going to continue to deindustrialize, in order to meet its Net Zero targets. In a huge FU to democracy and the British people, their punishment for taking Starmer down, is the UK is going with him.

Starmer it a petty, tyrannical evil skin suit, who never had the ability or character to be a leader of the local council let alone the country. Remilitarization and net zero are mutually exclusive goals.

Shelley's avatar

Yes indeed, that guy is a Marxist nut job. I read that France and Germany are ready to make a European 'Federation' with two tiers, one for the nations that support the EU goals, and another tier for those like Hungry.

There already are no borders between nations, so this could be the last step.

Jake's avatar

No. I should think the tone of my comment relays that I’m not happy about it. You asked an opinion about populations being jaded. I answered. Nothing more than that is happening here.

Granny62's avatar

Why should anyone be surprised by this. Labour in the UK is the same as the Democrats in the US. They are both anti-liberty, leftist, oppressive cabals. Starmer's pukes spied on journalists, Biden's spooks spied on Republicans. A pox on both. Labour and the Democrats are repositories of lunacy who hate their native born citizens, use police state tactics to silence opposition and lie with abandon. They all should have their head on pikes on Tower Bridge or the Capitol Mall.

Science Does Not Care's avatar

They are also entrenched elitists who are convinced that their self-assessed superiority gives them the mandate to rule, er, manage the world--especially us peasants. Then something happened in 2016 that literally caused collective panic attacks, and broke any remaining inhibitions on tactics.

I saw Stacy Abrams and Jared Kushner listed in one. Apparently Stacey has been to more than one.

Don Reed's avatar

02/14/26: Impossible. If Stacy Abrams Tank had ever stepped foot in Switzerland, the country would have been instantly deflated to sea level and the Alps in a "domino" collapse would have come to rest off the coast of Ireland. Which is possibly the geological explanation for Giant's Causeway. See if her predecessors roamed through Europe in 6,000 B.C. (all it would take is one).

rtj's avatar

I shit you not. In fact, Stacey has been top of the list for the past 3 years (they weren't in Switzerland, that's WEF.) As doofy as Kamala is, Stacey would have been even worse as VP. At least Harris remained more or less invisible during Joe's term. Abrams would have been shoving herself front and center the whole time. (full disclosure - i wanted Karen Bass. But that would have been a pretty bad call too.)

True that. Lurking on left leconomists blogs lays all the plans out.

Marxist land reform or land leases to the feds. 50 square foot apartments with no windows. Violent felonies become misdemeanors. The entire U.S. “free” market are government contractors (hey, it goes into GDP.) No show Maoist jobs on trains to nowhere (California). Ban and mandate private consumption (climate stocks, etc)

NNTX's avatar

Oh and wealth taxes too. The inarticulate AOC floated that idea in Munich, to of course pandering acclaim from the self same journos lauded by Labor and the U.S. left wing.

Ministryofbullshit's avatar

The left does not believe in property ownership. No surprise there.

NNTX's avatar

They sure know how to retain $$ and ownership for themselves though. Obama’s 4 mansions, Bernie’s three. And the BLM “head” bought multiple luxury homes.

They really think we don’t see it…and, they don’t care if we do.

Human behavior 101: You get more of the behavior you reward, less of that type of behavior when it is punished. IF Starmer, and his ilk get away with this without meaningful consequences beyond what is already in progress, expect more of the same. A lot more, because the curtain has been pulled back, and there is little left to lose. We had (still have, in fact) Adam Schiff and the like. Interesting to note the nexus of connections (department of redundancy department...sorry) and "sources" in these influence operations. Deep state eco system apparently knows no borders...

Promethean Action site and YouTube exposes the British government, the monarchy and British banking system as having powerful tentacles throughout the world for centuries. Destroying left and right. Deep involvement in USA with help from our despicable left (of course). President Trump is working to destroy that. I just tried to level a tiny truth this morning about deportations under the past presidents because these 2 friends were bragging about their grandchildren walking out of school to do ICE protests. They are so completely brainwashed there is no hope. Something terrible and traumatic will have to happen to them or their family before even 1 eye opens. That was the reason in august and September 2021 that I jumped out of the democrat, liberal and progressive stranglehold. One Traumatic realization plus my not getting Covid jabs heavy blowback. I could not sleep for weeks as I ,now having removed myself, could finally look back into the toxic abyss the left had become one. I’m scared to death about the midterms. Was it in your comment that you recommended Huxley In Hollywood? If so, thanks. I ordered it from thrift books and am looking forward to reading it. I'm seeing so many similarities with George Hodel and his eyes wide shut parties attended by Mann Ray (and the surrealists), film makers, scientists, and politicians featuring trafficked girls and boys, illegal abortions, sexual torture, and murder with Epstein's evil network.

Is it all really just about men pursuing sex with 'pneumatic' young females, unlimited drugs, and power to gaslight the normies? I read Brave New World when it was assigned to me in school in 1965. This re-reading has let me reeling.

Jake's avatar

Imagine a world where allowing and even perhaps encouraging or at least condoning the importation of a rape horde that violates thousands of young women and children ISN’T enough to oust someone from office. The fact that there are not thousands of dead rapists littering the streets of GB and one of the pieces of shit that ushered in this consequence to this population is still in power and running his fucking mouth tells you all you need to know about the fate of that formerly glorious shithole.
