If you are actually asking me if we should update the more than 100 year old education system to a system that is more customer focused and less employee focused then I say yes.
Turns out your question and it’s underlying assumptions was the actual sophistry.
No, I wasn't asking that, but nice strawman attack. Everyone can go to kindergarten and high school for free. It would be ridiculous (and empirically disproven for centuries) to claim that if everyone goes to kindergarten and high school that kindergarten and high school would mean nothing. That is what you are claiming about college and your idea about college is just as ridiculous.
Yes, they do. If you didn't go to kindergarten you'll be (on average) further behind in your development as a young person. If you didn't graduate high school you'll basically have no chance getting a job paying more than minimum wage.
"If you didn't graduate high school you'll basically have no chance getting a job paying more than minimum wage."
hahaha you have very little chance getting a job paying more than minimum wage with a 4-year college degree now unless you are pre-plugged into a patronage network.
That sophistic logic would also apply to high school and kindergarten. Should we get rid of high school and kindergarten, too?

Do employers care that you went to kindergarten or high school?
Does ANYBODY care?

I have never ever once been asked if I graduated elementary school.
The last time I was asked about high school was when I was 19.
I never once asked the people I was interviewing about either of those things.
If you have the skills it doesn't matter where you got them.
Can't verify the first 3. The last one is complete bullshit proven over and over in studies.
No it's not, because you have to hedge your claim by saying "on average".
The truth is you have no idea who went to traditional school and who didn't.
lol
Imagine caring about high school at literally any point beyond high school.

Sadly you are right, and the EU is slowly adopting this strategy. Ironically enough, it may be the pandemic that kills that horrible trend.
I hate being right and I hate the pandemic, but here we are.
They care if you can't read. They would care if you didn't have the basic skills and knowledge that people learn there.
Customer focused....hahahahahaha
