How is it that when I talk to people with normal jobs and lives, like bank tellers and small business owners and salespeople etc and whoever crosses my daily path, they sound kind, smart and reasonable, but our official thinking classes—journalists and professors and politicians—are brazen phony idiots who only speak to lie and who are always swallowing the latest political craze and demanding you too (or else!) and who are babbling conformists who imagine themselves as an infallible priesthood of wise elders!?!?
If a fish rots from the head down, so does a society. Living every second online fighting imaginary enemies in an endless tribal war has rotted every brain involved. The MSM and its employees and marks need to be euthanized or at least sent to live together in silence on an abandoned ostrich farm.
Well, maybe the Canadian government could use their culling on those that want to end their life, since it was the most humane thing and all. Plus, helps the sharpshooters hone their skills.
I have completely stopped online social media. Only long-form substacks from a few people and national newspapers - which are delivered on paper to my mail. This has been so for about the past 2 months. My mental health has demonstrably improved. I believe this commenter is absolutely correct. Social media is a mind and emotion and spirit suck. There is nothing good about it. By abandoning social media and all the comments, etc, I feel like I have escaped prison.
My grandma died about 15 years ago. She left me a box of books that I have just recently started going through. One of these has blown me away. Never heard of this book or the series it belongs to in my life. “The Little World of Don Camillo” by an Italian journalist named Giovanni Guareschi - written in the immediate aftermath of WW2. He wrote fictional stories as weekly columns in his paper - about a rigid Catholic Priest and his eternal conflicts with the Communist mayor. Red vs Blue in another generation. To say these stories are laugh out loud funny is an understatement. But to also add - the two really dislike each other, they fight all the time, they do horrible stuff to each other, but at the end of the day, there is a deep and abiding respect for one another - they also know the side they represent can not go on without the other. Most importantly in our social media age where people just say stuff online to each other all the time that is horrible - when these guys say and do horrible stuff to each other there is an immediate consequence - often hilarious - and the consequences often make great moral points. To make it even more entertaining, Jesus talks to the priest all the time in the form of the crucifix in his church, and Jesus turns out to be the most fun character of all. One lesson after the other for me - jaded by all the crazy going on in our world today. I would love to listen to you and Walter dissect something like this book by one of your fellow journalists from generations ago. His work is so, so timely for us today.
I was kicked off Facebook, the only social media I ever participated in, about 6 months ago. I still don't know exactly why, but I guess their AI determined I was not "a genuine person". Thought I was a bot or something, I guess? Anyway, it was the best thing that could have happened to me. Comment sections on a couple substacks are the only place I interact in a remotely social media type of way, I mainly text and call friends and family or actually get together with them in person. Much happier now.
I turned it all off—MSM (I wasn’t on social media) March 2020. I was stressed out for another reason and I wanted some peace. It is still off. It had an interesting side effect. One that maybe saved my life. Doing that protected me from the garbage that was Covid in all ways. I didn’t see hear or read the fear propaganda so I wasn’t afraid and the information I did come in contact was from my alternative health locations which started telling the truth. I knew what was going on in some way but didn’t believe any of it by the end of the summer. The bogus death tolls, the lies about treatments or lack of any. The mask stupidity. Then the vaccines—total dangerous rubbish. Then in September 2021 the blow back for not caving to the vax monster hit me. Then the sudden final realization that the democrats—my political crew—were careening off the cliff. Unrecognizable and frankly, evil. It’s been some ride. I won’t go back.
Social media is a curse on us. I make it a point to get outside away from all "devices" at least for a 8 hours a day. Nature is fascinating in every detail. I also spend a lot of time in my workshop fixing up old things. My current project is an old wooden boat, and the time spent learning a new skill is very satisfying. Sometimes I will spend hours in silence just working.
My stepson is addicted to his phone and video games, and I feel incredibly sad when he comes over and parks himself in the chair, plugs in his earphones and vanishes into his world until dinner is ready. At least he has a job and is self supporting, at least for now. His future is something I worry a great deal about.
I took up outdoor painting in our lovely landscape that first Covid summer. It kept me sane and still does. I try to be out in nature every season for a couple of hours or more a day. One place I can count on for a normal unchanging flow of life but filled with constant surprises. God is there.
My adult nephew and his girlfriend (thirty-somethings) visited us for a long weekend two summers ago. We live near a large beautiful lake with stunning vistas along a winding road that meanders past grand houses and charming watercolor bays. We asked if they were interested in taking a scenic ride, and they were. They both sat in the back of the car looking at their phones. I was not in the mood to be a scold, but actually feel sorry for them. They are captured by social media and have no idea what they are missing as a result.
We don't consume much media outside of alt-sources like this, but I work in an organization that has been soaking in new-speak news-speak since Trump was just another reality-TV guy. I'm sorry to say that vast swaths of 'thinker'-bees are even more indoctrinated than the official public ones. They perform for each other instead of audiences, incapable of perceiving anything except perfect reflection.
Honestly it is a constant struggle to deter or deflect most colleagues from spouting vicious nonsense, as I desperately suppress my disgust and horror that I'm living in a time when I have to feign professional respect for the incoherent at best, violently insane at worst, and endless attacks on Christians, conservatives, makers and doers, moms, normal people, wrongthinkers. I merely want to deliver empirical factual work to the best of my ability, but they drive me to think about early retirement every hour of the workday.
Excellent comment thank you. We all have a sense that there are normal thinking folks like yourself working within this mindless system but for all sorts of reasons, mainly trying to keep their jobs, remain helpless to make any significant difference. What you said here I think explains so much of the reason they do what they do;
"They perform for each other instead of audiences, incapable of perceiving anything except perfect reflection". Where the "perfect reflection" is some intangible sort of theme that they are all instinctively aware of, that they absolutely must adhere to to remain in good standing within the tribe
The belligerent hate for Christianity is wondrous. Never have so many people been exorcised by something that doesn't effect them in the least. It's endless fun having intelligent but malformed people come out of the woodwork to yell and scream about that system's supposed totalitarianism. Generally, I have found that even highly intelligent liberals are suspicious of anything approaching conservatism, particularly Christianity and monotheism as if it is an irrational position. But guys like Hitchens and Russell did fabulous jobs disagreeing with Christian theologians respectfully.
Know exactly what you mean. I've (mostly) trained myself to stifle those rants both to conserve spousal sanity and (honestly) more so that I won't dwell on it and have it seared into my brain. I *want* to forget it. I actively try not to absorb or even listen to what they say, in the very moments while they are still saying it. I keep a stone face, focus my thoughts on the task at hand, and when they take a breath I raise again the WORK subject we're supposed to be talking about (we're mostly virtual). Or simply walk away if it's an in-person, water-cooler-type of situation. When I close the laptop or leave the office, I deliberately put it as far out of mind as I can.
It's not perfect but it's a strategy to contain the poison outside our happy home.
We have been doing the wrongthink thing for years now...started under Obama and hit full force during Biden and covid....it's no different than the old fashioned witch hunts and what went on during Mao and Stalin...they'll get there...PolPot is the real champion.
You guys all keep missing that that's not the scary thought. The scary thought is that before social media and the direct conversations it enabled, when these high priests declared their truths WE ALL DID ACCEPT THEM. For the entirety of our lives until 2015 these people could do this and *succeed* in controlling the narrative and our collective thinking and there's no way to easily unpack how many things we think we know are entirely wrong because of that.
Hey Matt. It has always been thus. Always. We’ve just had more and more insidious tools to help us fuck with each other since written language and the printing press.
For example, here’s me, fucking with people. I think I’m right, but it’s possible I’m full of shit, along with everybody else on this surveillance “platform.” I have no idea if you or anyone else agrees with me, nor do I really care. I still go to the store and buy shit, help people and even smile sometimes. I have a wife and kids, and love them as well as a few other people. Yet, there’s this:
Social media is literal hell on earth. If you post anything that deviates even a tiny bit from what your followers consider “OK” you are immediately branded.
Wayne and Schuster, SCTV with John Candy, Kids in the Hall, Royal Canadian Air Farce, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Dan Ackroyd, Mike Myers, Jim Carrey and so many more. Our politicians from left to right would go onto Air Farce and 22 Minutes to be make fun of.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vuW6tQ0218. Norwegian blue ostriches for sure,.. I sure hope they use the remains.. food ( the meat is very tasty.. and the feathers. not to mention. boots, bags and other sundry uber expensive things. my bet. they were tossed.. such is the ultimate in government waste
Are you kidding? The progressives would much rather waste an entire bird than allow its remains to be put to good use. Remember these are effectively heavy socialists at best. THEY can use the meat, skin, etc being that they are anointed and therefore above the unwashed. But it would be better to burn an entire ostrich than have an already dead bird suffer evisceration by filthy commoners.
Read Matt's current piece on the Ostrich kills. Most here understand it had everything to do with control and Pharma. They had antibodies for bird flu. The control aspect is the same you saw during the Truckers Freedom Convoy. They are still persecuting Chris Barber and Tamara Lich- two of the leaders on BS charges.
Well, Canada at the federal level has increased the bureaucracy by just over 40% in ten years and the spending on staff has increased by 70%. Supposedly 25% of Canadians are employed by government at all three levels (federal, provincial and municipal).
Former government worker myself, lost my job in 2002 due to provincial government cutbacks, but it was the best thing happen to me.
Canadian culture is dependency culture. What is the last thing Canada invented? The BlackBerry?
“In a fully developed bureaucracy there is nobody left with whom one could argue, to whom one could present grievances, on whom the pressures of power could be exerted. Bureaucracy is the form of government in which everybody is deprived of political freedom, of the power to act; for the rule by Nobody is not no-rule, and where all are equally powerless we have a tyranny without a tyrant.”
Not really. First a good chunk of those foreigners are temporary workers or students. The programs are corrupted and they over stay and disappear. Why would you increase federal (only) bureaucracy for now illegals? Current tension around whether (like the US) these illegals are getting the same service support that Canadian citizens do. Maybe Trish can do a story on that.
My answer pertains to the exploded citizenry, not the exploded foreign workers. Our CITIZENRY has doubled. ALL of life's political math needs to rely on PER CAPITA analysis, otherwise it's just bullshit. That's why cov-19 numbers were so hysterical, because people are per-capita innumerate.
25% of adult Canadians do work for the government if you include medical workers who are part of universal healthcare. That 25% statistic would apply to the United States as well if the U.S. had universal healthcare.
Canadian doctors are not employed by the government, despite being dependent on it for remuneration. I have worked there, and am disheartened by what I read. Facilitating the death of the depressed is a complete inversion of everything society has fought for, a sure sign of societal failure.
You want to die? Your choice. I think it wrong and selfish but that is not the issue. Any kitchen has all you need. Stop encouraging state intervention in the deaths of others.
That is so much BS. Medical industry person here. Agree with Patrick. Very very different systems. Canada's is failing fast. Remember if not structured properly the tension is always between Access to services and Cost of Services. We in Canada have both. Private insurance has increased as has "Medical Tourism"
It's so strange. It seems that to hold bona fide intellectual elite credentials one must absolutely remain from exercising thinking skills and capacity over anything political, cultural, or social.
I think they all need their mothers and fathers to have disciplined them at least a little when small, instead of handing out treats for every win or loss, every good deed or naughty act. But now it's too late.
Cowardly conformists are usually just boring and harmless but now that they've adopted a punitive ideology en masse and know that even a single deviation will spell ruin for them and their precious careers, they have morphed into a shrill and stupid commissariat. The globalist managerial class have given themselves an ideological lobotomy and want to attack and destroy everyone who refuses to do the same.
“This was all done based on two sets of PCR tests from almost one year ago. Any new testing by the farmers themselves carried the threat of massive fines and even jail time! One can only assume that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency did not want to risk the massive embarrassment of proving that they were executing avian influenza virus-free ostriches.”
I’ve not seen leisurely speed boats like that. Living on the coast of Florida, it’s fairly easy to spot a drug boat. Most leisurely boats don’t have four or more high powered engines on their stern . Built for speed.
Chaucer said the same thing. I say bullshit. We're all born with a moral compass and a pretty good bullshit detector. Good examples matter - in the home, most of all.
I am a Canadian and I tell you that Canada is an immensely douschy country, a feckless, apathetic, consumer society with no sense of self. There’s nothing left. Immigration has swamped out my culture, the blue collar, strong work ethic canadiana hockey bros, drinking beer and playing euchre. We have been vilified as pigs. The only comment thread I see in Canada is our bigoted hatred of Americans and America. Not a day goes by that there isn’t a media story that could be titled: “look at what those stupid Americans are up to again “.
You are looking in the wrong places. So many don't feel that way. I agree with your comment about changes in culture. They can be fine , if they are organic. These are pushed on us-- very different result.
My theory is that Patient Zero of the mind virus of our time is the UK. It then naturally enough spread to its Commonwealth Countries. Seems to me that is where you see the most virulent strains culling the minds of formerly relatively sane societies. The EU seems to be a super-spreader now as well, especially the German/French axis of righteousness. The US has (had?) some built-in stabilizers and a certain natural immunity to said virus, but the mutated strains just keep coming atcha. Big Pharma is salivating, working on new ways to monetize the insanity, while Big Tech is developing more potent algorithms to strengthen the variants.
Trump has been the greatest gift to liberal-establishment govt's everywhere; and our proximity to the U.S. - which on a hair-trigger flares up into a Kafka-sized inferiority complex - only makes the reaction more terminal...
The answer is that humans are status seeking creatures. Status over wealth. And these twisted beliefs confer status to the in group. The rest of the country sees that the emperor has no clothes, but they are deplorables anyway.
Y’know what’s weird about this stratification? The people hustling divisions are sponsored by corporate media. Their sponsors are global forces trying to steer US marketplaces. Network sponsors are martialing stupidity as authority to mask op-ed as competing sponsorships. It’s wedge advertorial.
Here’s an example. Wedge narrators on one major network started panning Subaru cars, imported models made by S. Korean allies, as “lesbian vehicles”.
I had a practical exchange standing around in the cold this weekend with a straight Republican couple at an event in Houston waiting for valet car return. We spoke about why we chose the cars we own. She had a Toyota. I have a Subaru. We discussed the affordability of Japanese and Korean brands, safety ratings and road performance for extended life of the vehicles. Predictably, it had absolutely had zero to do with who we sleep with on a regular basis.
In reaction to the Peasants’ Rebellions of 2016 (Trump and Brexit), the global corporate state adopted Social Justice as its official ideology, to create a church-state ruling coalition. This gives them a moral pretext and fig leaf (they stand for the “marginalized”), creates a high-low coalition and provides voters, young zealous shock troops, turns open borders into a humanitarian issue and not just a desire for cheap labor, and a uniform ideology also works as shibboleth and as gatekeeeper—if you don’t obey SJ and DEI, there’s no place for you on their team. All of this is designed to lock in the rule of what I call Social Justice Inc., which aims to oppose and defeat all our various nationalists, populists, native Western populations etc. Church-state ruling coalitions are ancient and tend to both our human needs as well as spiritual/moral needs—it’s a smart move on their part.
I wrote an explainer called 'Totalitarian Derangement Syndrome'. The public has already experienced Trump out of power with the persistence of the TDS inversion of reality. Trump may go away and the TDS sticks around.
Hah! Got a genuine laugh from me. Yes, look at that jewel of an island in the sea and the deification of their kings and queens, and the literal billions spent on them and their properties while school kids get rickets from poor diets. Will never be able to understand that.
King Charles I was beheaded by the Parliamentarians’ Republic in 1649.
James II was deposed in 1688 by the imported Dutch King William as part of a deal that included passage of the Lockean Bill of Rights that limited the power of the monarch, ensured supremacy of Parliament, and protected some specific individual rights.
The 1701 Act of Settlement by Parliament prescribed the importation of a German king (George l) upon the future Queen Anne’s death.
Exactly, why do good solid folk allow these poor leaders to make very important decisions, I suppose we’re too busy doing our lives, but at some point we need to pay very close attention, before the wheels fall off.
It's not much of a stretch to think the Canadian Government would have liked to do this to the unvaccinated.
As I wrote a couple years ago -- "It’s easy to see how — from the government’s point of view — every nail can be solved with the hammer of you just killing yourself and going away! Not only do they save the state the time of dealing with your incessant nagging about how they ruined your life, they save some serious cash while doing it!"
Disabled Canadian Army veteran Paralympian blasts government for offering to EUTHANIZE her when she complained about how long it was taking to install stairlift at her home
Those stories have been rampant, if you look in the National Post or any of the independent media like Rebel News or Western Standard. MAID has been legislated since 2016 under Troodo. A few years ago a retail chain in Quebec advertised MAID in a TV ad as something you should think of at Christmas....you know...as a gift. Does that shock you out of your socks? At least enough Canadians complained about the ad to get it taken down.
This is very much a drunk shower thought, but I wonder if the idea of assisted suicide for mental illness comes from the same logic that considers mean words to be violence. After all, once you completely abolish the boundary between injury to body and injury to mind/emotion, who's to say that being depressed isn't just as bad as having terminal cancer? Maybe they're equally horrible and need to be dealt with using the same extreme measures.
New research suggests medically assisted dying could result in substantial savings across Canada's health-care system.
Doctor-assisted death could reduce annual health-care spending across the country by between $34.7 million and $136.8 million, according to a report published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal on Monday.
The savings exceedingly outweigh the estimated $1.5 to $14.8 million in direct costs associated with implementing medically assisted dying.
There are worse things than dying, and if you need to see it go into a couple LTACHs, where the dead are often kept "alive" with ventilators, kidney dialysis, TPN (total parental nutrition) and pressors to keep their BP from dropping while their heart can't beat enough to oxygenate their tissues so their flesh rots to the bone and they are brain dead and have terminal cancer. LTACH stands for long-term acute care hospital, where costs per day are well over $20,000. US.
Being depressed is really, really bad. I had it for years, though perhaps the lightest possible case of it. I remember going to the car to bring in groceries when the light in the garage-door opener went out, as it does a couple of minutes after it runs, and being struck by a wave of hopeless frustration, bursting into tears although there was plenty of light from the open garage door.
At the time I’d have traded it for terminal cancer in a heartbeat. But the point is that depression *is treatable* while (by definition) terminal cancer is not.
I am 100% in favor of the right to die. But the statistic that this is now 1 in 20 Canadian deaths makes me doubt that these deaths are all personal choice. Jesus.
Here was Dr. Meryl Nass writing about the Biden admin culling of US poultry. The count during his admin? 166 million birds. ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SIX MILLION BIRDS.
As a federally certified spotted owl caller (seriously, it was a thing) I watched as the U.S. government all but eliminated the logging industry in the Pacific Northwest to save the spotted owl. Now they’ve decided oops… it’s really competition with the barred owls that’s reducing the spotted owl population. So they want to hire “skilled marksmen” to kill 450,000 barred owls. And all for the low, low cost of $1.35 billion dollars. Something about you can’t fix stupid.
Was there a census taken as to the value of spotted owls versus barred owls? Are barred owls 'white'? Are they bad for the environment? Do they kill people?
There was only one small saw mill left when I lived in Oregon in the '70s. Generations of loggers and mill works out of jobs. But if I remember correctly the USG was sending disberments to offset the hardship in those towns.
I did some research. It turns out that Barred Owls are indeed white, and all are cis male. What's worse, they tend to vote Republican. Off with their swiveling little heads!
It is an opportunity for marksmen to leave their mark. When on God’s green earth did Trumps Interior Dept (or any other department) care about ANY bird’s survival. It is total BS.
Owlicide is not ever what I had on my bingo card. Seriously. There are so many owls we have to bring in the troops to save the other owls. I smell “friendly fire.”
Tracy, HORSES are an invasive species. So are English sparrows. So are cattle and citrus fruits. They’ve all had an impact on the North American environment, as have we as humans. 277 plants and animals are extinct since Columbus landed. Scientists discover 15,000 new organisms every year. Barred owls are NATIVE to North America.
Who decides who gets culled? Just asking for a friend.
Yes today's horses are an invasive species and are rightly population controlled everywhere they exist in North America so as to not decimate farm land. They are not culled, but their population size is controlled.
English House sparrows are DECIMATING local birds, yes they should be eliminated.
Most invasive species deserve to be culled.
There is zero comparison to 325 HEALTHY ostriches on an ENCLOSED FARM.
Traci, you say “most invasive species deserve (deserve?, like they did something wrong?) to be culled”. But you didn’t answer my question. Who decides? Aren’t we humans an invasive species? Most horses are relocated, but some are killed. Many donkeys, another invasive species, are killed every year. Wanna get in on the killing? Lemons are invasive. Shall we cut them all down? Shall we elimínate cattle? The bison were here first. My point is, it’s all subjective, and American ecologists have done a miserable job of “managing” nature.
In the case of the Barred Owl, they are native and mate with spotted owls. They are not “invasive “. Are we going to manage every species imbalance? If so, we should cull domestic house cats, which greatly impact bird populations. I’m sure you’re on board with this. Explain to us why a spotted owl is superior to a barred owl. I never mentioned ostriches.
As for your snarky “use some critical thinking skills “, your personal attack suggests you lack confidence in your own argument or perhaps have issues in your private life that cloud your ability to have a civil adult conversation.
And as for the English sparrows, good luck with that.
Whose definition of “invasive?” You didn’t address my points. Am I supposed to be impressed by “ biologist?” Whoopdie-do. You think smart humans like you can manage nature? Such hubris. Why are you OK with house cats? Tell me how you’ll eliminate English sparrows…
I’m seeing no critical thinking on your part, just self-righteous emotion. Deal.
I remember when it was the number one destination for Democrats who thought about leaving America during times of Republican rule. And I should know, because I toyed with the idea myself.
Yes, the exact Canadian identity is "not American". During the American Revolution the King of England paid thousands upon thousands of Loyalist Coward Sheeple to flee the US, in land and $$$, to come to the Great White North and continue to serve the Monarchy.
Then nearly 100,000 Americans fled to Canada fleeing conscription in Vietnam days.
All these people are toxically and reflexively anti-American and Monarchist Loyalist Sheeple to the bone.
I don't remember that actually happening, or at least I don't remember that happening in large enough numbers to make a difference in Canada's politics.
Yes, and Canada has very strict rules for legal immigration, like no pre-existing medical conditions etc. Great Britain ensures that legal immigrants will generate enough income to be on the NHS, and Canada probably does as well. Canada probably doesn't want you unless you are highly educated and healthy and young.
It's a little ways back. Bowling for Columbine days. In that film they showed how most people owned guns in Canada but there was a small fraction of the violence we had here. People weren't even in the habit of locking their doors at night.
That's long ago. Canada is now a librul progressive hell-hole. They do not have a Bill of Rights, and the government can persecute you for your speech.
The trucker protest was a wake-up moment. How many of those truckers were completely ruined by Trudeau? No wonder his wife cannot stand him any longer.
No, they've always been nuttier. Just a little frozen and more polite "aboot" it. It's a fatal flaw; the truckers' convoy was amazing but an aberration. Look at performative/suicidal empathy for non-existent "rights" (or graves) of eskimos-inuit-indigenous-1st whatever, which has been at high pitch for decades. And deference to the state likewise has always been off the charts.
This is part of the Canadian government's commitment to demoralizing, disarming, and dehumanizing its citizens so they will be easier to control. Frozen bank accounts, Stompy the horse, MAID, strong arm police tactics, inability to communicate (try getting a meeting with the tax department!), lawfare, and other methods intended to frighten the population into submission are being used every day.
Those who call the American government authoritarian need to take a long, hard look at the Northern Gulag, where it's almost criminal to be white, male, Christian, conservative and independent. The future isn't bright. If you can leave, get out while you can.
“Ask your doctor to kill you if you’re depressed” (which can be done under MAiD I believe) doesn’t sell as well as “Relieve your pain if you have a rare and agonizing genetic condition.” Of course the former is well on the way to becoming more frequent than the latter. But it will never be admitted.
“Ask your doctor to kill your unwanted or accidental baby” (which is what abortion is, regardless of your support of it) doesn’t sell as well “abortion is healthcare to protect the mother” It’s well known the former is much more frequent than the latter. But it will never be admitted.
The culture of death in the West is masked under soothing, clinical language. But it doesn’t, like it doesn’t for Nurse Ratched, conceal for the observant and principled among us the depths of depravity beneath.
Thank God Canada doesn’t have pharmaceutical ads. Can you imagine the carnage if they were constantly showing commercials for MAIDhouses during hockey games?
This is depressing. I have a close friend who has worked in the egg industry for years and was involved in some of those mass kills for egg layers. He said it was unbelievably disgusting; the birds would sometimes be left for days because it takes fewer people to kill them than it does to clean them and well, you know, scheduling mistakes happen.
WHY I don't eat eggs, dairy or meat. The misery and suffering is unconscionable and I cannot and will not support it. Diseases are born in these intensive concentration camps. Also the people who work these hellholes are suffering physically and mentally. How could you not? The extra bonus is I am healthier now than I have ever been.
I don't eat eggs, dairy, or meat from *commercial operations*. If you're lucky enough to live in a semi-rural area or have access to one, you can usually find local, small farm sources.
“Note that the birds' bodies are left out in the open. In an actual biothreat scenario, the carcasses would have been disposed of immediately and not just covered with loose tarps that look like they were purchased from Home Depot. The bodies of these huge birds were then left to rot in the morning sun the next day. It doesn’t take a genius to recognize that this is not how an infectious disease threat is handled, but we all know there is no infectious disease threat there. This is pure security theater.”
Expert Marksman, what an absolute joke, in an enclosed pen they still needed a thousand bullets to kill 289 ostriches and in the morning they started shooting again because they weren't all dead. Such a disgusting and gruesome show of the government's latest power grab, which of course was entirely the point of leaving the bodiesmany headless, strewn around in that compound for everybody to see for days. I am so disgusted by this country. Both the governing class and the midwits who run around blindly cheering them on.
Of course sane people are upset. Look at our reaction when a Dem city decided to kill a person's pet squirrell. Can't remember its name. And the pigeon from Oregon that got lost in Australia that needed to be killed because it might have Covid.
What in the world have these gov people been drinking or smoking?
I am glad you wrote about this, Matt. It was such a disgraceful and shady massacre that I am glad to see our gov't shamed on a global stage. The initial lab test detecting avian flu was done in Dec 2024 when 70 ostriches died. The 330 remaining were healthy for 10 months, suggesting immunity, which is why Dr. Oz and RFK were interested in getting the birds for research. But can't have that -those guys are MAGA.
CFIA threatened to fine the owners $200K plus jail time if they arranged independent, current lab tests on these birds. Why? Maybe because CFIA knew the birds were healthy and were incensed that ordinary farmers could question the CFIA decision? (Mediocre weak bureaucrats can't stand to be challenged)
And who lines up marksmen to shoot birds at night? They also forbade drones to fly over the farm.
The Canadian gov't is now an authoritarian menace, with speech/thought censoring bills in second reading, undoubtedly to be passed this time. If convicted of hate speech or hate thought the Non Protected Class of People (read white Christian heterosexual) can be thrown in jail, face bankrupting fines or be cut off from internet, on-line banking and cell phones. Also, Carney intends to shut down social media b/c of mis, dis, racist, bigoted information. Goodbye X.
There are many Canadians who actually wish Donald Trump were serious in making us the 51st state. That's how disillusioned and broke Trudeau/Carney gov'ts have made us.
“ At a time when wide-scale misery seems to be in fashion across the political spectrum (Michelle Obama’s new coffee-table book Look is 304 pages about what a burden it was to have to dress as First Lady)”…
If there was prize for Most Miserable Person on Earth, she’d be a shoo-in every time! Seriously, listening to her complain about literally every aspect of her entire life perhaps she would be the perfect candidate for MAID!
304 pages and life is unfair. So sad. Can’t wait to be confronted by The Wall Of Michelle at my next visit to Barnes and Noble. Last week I was greeted at the door by Kammie’s “107 Days” at The Best Non-fiction table. 😊
We live in such a weird time.
I have been paralyzed by this thought for weeks.
Simply, the only way to be a respected and well-compensated member of our thinking classes is to promise to never do any thinking, no matter what.
Thinking can lead to dangerous thoughts and ideas!
......is that a thought about thinking I detected?
is ok, im neither respected nor well-compensated.
Sounds like a title of a Bernard Shaw play.
Yep - and let's call MAID to get that poster sorted out!
Doing work with hands helps frame the mind into rational and pragmatic thoughts and ideas.
Yes. When I ran out of home improvement projects I learned to bake bread. Has nearly the same effect.
Hmmm. Gotta try the bread thing…
There has perhaps never been a better time to not do any thinking but spend enormous energy disdaining.
"Thinking is difficult, that's why most people judge." Jung
I've always liked the comment, "at least you don't let reason interfere with your judgement".
The best….
I think that was the advice of King Henry II
The best quote from Kamala's book “they didn't tell me what to do.” Come on lady, you're second to an 80 year old man who's falling apart.
It’s never about the thinking. It’s about the ratings.
Well, maybe the Canadian government could use their culling on those that want to end their life, since it was the most humane thing and all. Plus, helps the sharpshooters hone their skills.
Matt,
I have completely stopped online social media.
Facebook blows. Haven for narcissists. Can’t bring myself to post. Will like some friends posts here and there, that’s it.
I read this as a kid! I would never have known the title, thank you!
It was on my family's bookshelf. I remember an illustration of the little priest! I never read it though. I wonder if my brother has it?
I read those books, from the council library when at secondary school in the 60s and loved them.
Hey, Doc. Can you take a look at my novel, a form of reality-fiction? https://thedarksideofhungermountain.substack.com/ Would love to receive your comments. Thanks. T.H. PLATT
I’d love for Matt & Walter to dissect this book. I’ll get it just incase they do (or don’t)
Excellent comment thank you. We all have a sense that there are normal thinking folks like yourself working within this mindless system but for all sorts of reasons, mainly trying to keep their jobs, remain helpless to make any significant difference. What you said here I think explains so much of the reason they do what they do;
"They perform for each other instead of audiences, incapable of perceiving anything except perfect reflection".
I’m in much the same position. I need to start blogging “PoMo Coworker Says What?!?” so my spouse doesn’t have to listen to me rant about it.
Check this out from our German friends busy as ever culling undesirables from polite society:
https://www.eugyppius.com/p/how-a-german-domestic-spy-agency?publication_id=268621&utm_campaign=email-post-title&r=kyfzz&utm_medium=email
Love Eugyppius. Germany provides endless levels of government insanity. It's almost like their parties are all part of a grand improv troupe.
No one expects the grand improv troupe
Well done
This is frightening. I knew Germany was bad, but this sounds even worse, like a blend of Orwell and early LeCarré.
Every new report from eugyppius is increasingly unbelievable. It's like they've gone through the Poe's Law window and come out on the other side.
A re-make of the German Aktion T-4 program.
We have been doing the wrongthink thing for years now...started under Obama and hit full force during Biden and covid....it's no different than the old fashioned witch hunts and what went on during Mao and Stalin...they'll get there...PolPot is the real champion.
Wear a mask.
That too...and get vaxxed...and many were supportive of the concept of rounding us up...
You are one of the few decent ones in the professional class that would even give it a second thought. Kudos to you.
Yet, there’s this:
https://biffogram.substack.com/p/take-me-to-your-leader-oh-wait-never
Exactly! its like what there is rampant child abuse and trafficking? Hello --- always been there., we have more tools now to see it clearly.
More like years if you live in a rural state…
Social media is literal hell on earth. If you post anything that deviates even a tiny bit from what your followers consider “OK” you are immediately branded.
Wow! For once Matt replies to a positive comment!
Only weeks?!? :-)
Canada needs its own Monty Python Troupe :
"Your Ostrich has ceased to exist!!!!!!"
Ostrich: "But I'm not culled!"
Canada was super funny.
Now our comedy is Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford.
These are the Dave's I know I know these are the Dave's I know. And who could forget Eradicator!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vuW6tQ0218. Norwegian blue ostriches for sure,.. I sure hope they use the remains.. food ( the meat is very tasty.. and the feathers. not to mention. boots, bags and other sundry uber expensive things. my bet. they were tossed.. such is the ultimate in government waste
"Norwegian blue ostriches"
Excellent. Absolutely Python-esque.
Pining for the fjords, was he?
I can bet they're tasty. A drumstick the size of a tennis racket!
I miss the tactile keyboard.........
No it’s tyranny
Quote by Hannah Arendt from On Violence:
“In a fully developed bureaucracy there is nobody left with whom one could argue, to whom one could present grievances, on whom the pressures of power could be exerted. Bureaucracy is the form of government in which everybody is deprived of political freedom, of the power to act; for the rule by Nobody is not no-rule, and where all are equally powerless we have a tyranny without a tyrant.”
To be fair, you gotta put those numbers in context, per capita. The Canadian population has exploded due to foreigners being accepted as Canadians.
There are lists that show government workers per capita.
They are interesting.
Stop requiring that I be alive when I don't want to. My Body My Choice. I also CHOSE not to get the clot shot.
Everyone needs to stop telling other people how to live or not live.
You want to die? Your choice. I think it wrong and selfish but that is not the issue. Any kitchen has all you need. Stop encouraging state intervention in the deaths of others.
yes, cuz we're all violent and messy death advocates cuz you want to control me. How quaint.
The main reason covid dissidence failed (it took three years to get out from under) is that BOTH sides are hypocritical about MY BODY MY CHOICE.
One needs to be as absolutist on MY BODY MY CHOICE
as Freedom of speech.
Until people rise above individual hypocrisy, authoritarian governments and people will continue their victorious onslaught.
No one is stopping you. Get some help.
Oh so you think talking mean to angry people is gonna help. So useful of you!
For Canada this would include crown corporations like B.C. Ferries (love the frontline staff and those guiding the boats), and teachers.
Patrick is correct about doctors.
They are people who have felt obliged to agree for so long that they now believe what they say.
As a Canadian, I am gobsmacked with the the whole MAID thing.
The Ostritch cull, is an even greater evil.
I have no clue, how an "expert marksman", shooting penned, flightless birds can sleep at night.
Yeah, some birds tested positive for "avian flu", because of a diagnostic test that cannot clearly identify ANY viral infection.
They can all go TAFW...
“This was all done based on two sets of PCR tests from almost one year ago. Any new testing by the farmers themselves carried the threat of massive fines and even jail time! One can only assume that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency did not want to risk the massive embarrassment of proving that they were executing avian influenza virus-free ostriches.”
https://viralimmunologist.substack.com/p/the-canadian-food-inspection-agencys
Wish I could like your comment more than once!
Fact is, that CFIA, through their actions, have made a bad situation far worse.
This case needs to be unforgotten, as well as unforgiven...
Thank you, although I get no credit—that was a quote.
This whole ostrich episode is really pissing me off, as did the killing of all those minks during Covid.
Yes, same thing with the mink.
Covid, or Avian became a licence to kill...
I need someone to show me a thoroughly reasoned meaning for it.
That will never happen...
Sorta like " mistakes were made"...
I think it was intentionally to keep the fear factor cranked up.
Notice the article I linked says this was all based on a couple of PCR tests. I was really hoping we were done with that whole PCR nightmare.
🎯
"As a Canadian, I am gobsmacked with the the whole MAID thing."
Why?
Well, it's not quite as bad as blowing up boats in the carribean is it?
Right. Those fine people are just trying to have a leisurely boat ride.
I’ve not seen leisurely speed boats like that. Living on the coast of Florida, it’s fairly easy to spot a drug boat. Most leisurely boats don’t have four or more high powered engines on their stern . Built for speed.
Agreed
Yes especially the boat seen dumping big white packages off its side
“Those fine people” are not entitled to be treated like Americans of course.
Agreed
And wasn't your last p.m. elected on the basis of Not Trump? Laugh and cry.
The current one: Mark Carney.
The supposedly savvy businessman who is just a life long banker/finance guy.
No lifelong apparatchik to big business. Plugged into globalist finance. WEF, Green scam point person.
If some non mainstream journalists I follow are correct Mark Carney is around 90% invested in the USA.
You are looking in the wrong places. So many don't feel that way. I agree with your comment about changes in culture. They can be fine , if they are organic. These are pushed on us-- very different result.
To which I agree in part, but each can say ‘y’all ain’t that bright either’ ;)
Excellent.
"If a fish rots from the head down, so does a society."
Great line! True too!
A favorite quote from the movie "The Untouchables" with Robert De Niro as Al Capone, "We laugh because it's funny and we laugh because it's true."
🎯
Trump may go away and the TDS sticks around.
https://open.substack.com/pub/sheilamdean/p/redux-totalitarian-derangement-syndrome?r=ew9ue&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false
great thanks
Perhaps this explains why, at various points in time, England/Britain imported kings.
Dooood…you kind of hit the nail on the head.🤔
lol thanks
This is why I got off of social media and quit following MSM
Amen
It's not much of a stretch to think the Canadian Government would have liked to do this to the unvaccinated.
As I wrote a couple years ago -- "It’s easy to see how — from the government’s point of view — every nail can be solved with the hammer of you just killing yourself and going away! Not only do they save the state the time of dealing with your incessant nagging about how they ruined your life, they save some serious cash while doing it!"
Canada is committing MAID as a country. We are the carbon they want to reduce.
One of the examples from my article:
Disabled Canadian Army veteran Paralympian blasts government for offering to EUTHANIZE her when she complained about how long it was taking to install stairlift at her home
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11497589/Paraplegic-Canadian-veteran-says-government-caseworker-offered-euthanasia.html
Just one bureaucratic snafu away from a Monty Python skit:
“We’re here to compassionately euthanize you.”
“Wait, wait, I was just asking about a stairlift! On second thought I can crawl up the stairs just fine!”
"Sorry, we've already come all this way........"
I consider the whole phenomenon evil.
The story reminds me of that meme which compared health care in the US, the UK, and Canada. https://x.com/dpatrikarakos/status/1603018993849274374
LOL!
"We are the carbon they want to reduce" .Have the long sleeved shirt!
Soylent Green, here we come!
Perhaps Trump was right about its being better off as a 51st state.
I know Canadians who openly advocated for placing us in isolation camps.
How dare you put the vaccinated at risk......from....the thing they got vaccinated against.....
That is 100% accurate as I know people who expressed that opinion too up in the Great White North.
I am Covid unvaccinated and still alive in my homeland..ha..ha.
As South Park said years ago, “We are not a real country anyways.”
And yes, we all are like Terence and Philip. Ugly Bob: nope.
Part of the "lucky" 99.7%.
Don't forget Scott the Giant Dick!
Hey buddy, speak for yourself
Are you a fellow Canuck?
“They save some serious cash …”
If experience is any guide, they will cut the services but keep the money.
Motto of the Bureaucracy: Do Less With More
I tend to think of MAiD as a cost save for the Canadian Health Service
SO DO THEY
but will they lower the GST/PST as a consequence?
Hahahahahaha No.
First they came for the ostriches, and I did not speak out—because I am not an ostrich.
Or maybe the state is cheap and your healthcare is expensive.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/medically-assisted-death-could-save-millions-1.3947481
US.
Yeah I'd much rather have a party while I still have my faculties, then OD on heroin or something.
I can't understand people spending away their kids' inheritance to live in a hospital on a machine for an extra month.
All those are paltry figures. Put that in billions and you would still be short of what the USG spends annually on health-care.
Cheap and effective!
Jesus.
I had the same thought and I wasn't drunk.
Here was Dr. Meryl Nass writing about the Biden admin culling of US poultry. The count during his admin? 166 million birds. ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SIX MILLION BIRDS.
https://merylnass.substack.com/p/whats-up-with-bird-flu?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=746368&post_id=163525565&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=false&r=1gnmra&triedRedirect=true
and folks were wondering why the price of eggs went up
They were pretty sure the reason was Orange Man Bad.
Don't forget all those poor minks.
I love how that term in office is called "Biden administration."
Was he there?
they want us in those “kill boxes”
The CBC has deemed this misinformation -- right this way to the kill box, please.
Jack Nicholson?
They need us in those kill boxes
The U.S. Department of the Interior is about to “cull” 500,000 Barred Owls, so we have to be careful about throwing stones in the Cull Chapel.
At least the Canadians could make a public health argument. The U.S. culling is a DEI policy: some owls are better than others. Who knew?
As a federally certified spotted owl caller (seriously, it was a thing) I watched as the U.S. government all but eliminated the logging industry in the Pacific Northwest to save the spotted owl. Now they’ve decided oops… it’s really competition with the barred owls that’s reducing the spotted owl population. So they want to hire “skilled marksmen” to kill 450,000 barred owls. And all for the low, low cost of $1.35 billion dollars. Something about you can’t fix stupid.
It's amazing this hasn't gotten more coverage. It makes the Canadian Ostrich cull look like amateur hour.
😂🤭
We already spent so much capital "saving" the spotted owl, we're stuck throwing good money after bad.
That, SC, is what the USG always does. $38T.
$38T..........SO FAR!
You can't correct a complex system with bullets.
I think Senator Kennedy mentioned this recently somewhere.
I read about this and then forgot. Thanks for reminding everyone that we are just one election away from....
omg you have got to be kidding me
It is an opportunity for marksmen to leave their mark. When on God’s green earth did Trumps Interior Dept (or any other department) care about ANY bird’s survival. It is total BS.
Agreed. It was actually planned in the Biden Administration, but now the Trump administration is planning to follow through.
Owlicide is not ever what I had on my bingo card. Seriously. There are so many owls we have to bring in the troops to save the other owls. I smell “friendly fire.”
Barred owls are an invasive species and are decimating natural owl populations. Nature's balance is a completely different topic.
Use some critical thinking skills.
As a biologist, let me assure you you're misunderstanding the definition of *invasive*. Donkeys aren't invasive.
If we allow the Barred owl invasion (yes they are invasive because they're taking over new areas) to continue, there will be no Spotted Owls left.
Nope, it's not "snark" it's just plain truth. Deal.
Deal.
If there are 500,000 owls in the USofA I will kiss your . . . 1951 Pontiac Chieftain. Or something. Is that fake owl news?
Well, there's this: https://www.sfgate.com/national-parks/article/pacific-northwest-barred-owl-plan-dei-owls-21146047.php
or this: https://www.earthlawcenter.org/blog-entries/2024/12/to-kill-or-not-to-kill-the-controversial-plan-to-kill-half-a-million-barred-owls
There are many articles on this, all using the same number of owls within a range. The cost is estimated at $1.3 billion.
Remember when Canada was the place that seemed more fair and sane than the US??????
I remember when it was the number one destination for Democrats who thought about leaving America during times of Republican rule. And I should know, because I toyed with the idea myself.
They did and now they're up there running the place
Yes, the exact Canadian identity is "not American". During the American Revolution the King of England paid thousands upon thousands of Loyalist Coward Sheeple to flee the US, in land and $$$, to come to the Great White North and continue to serve the Monarchy.
Then nearly 100,000 Americans fled to Canada fleeing conscription in Vietnam days.
All these people are toxically and reflexively anti-American and Monarchist Loyalist Sheeple to the bone.
It's sick.
That's Canada's identity.
False. Our fast foods are filled with foreign nincompoops on minimum salaries sponsored by our foreign workers programmes. It's a fucking shit show
I actually don't remember that.
It's a little ways back. Bowling for Columbine days. In that film they showed how most people owned guns in Canada but there was a small fraction of the violence we had here. People weren't even in the habit of locking their doors at night.
Oh wow. I sure didn't know that.
That's long ago. Canada is now a librul progressive hell-hole. They do not have a Bill of Rights, and the government can persecute you for your speech.
Yep. That was the point of my comment. Hard to believe how steep the fall has been.
The trucker protest was a wake-up moment. How many of those truckers were completely ruined by Trudeau? No wonder his wife cannot stand him any longer.
It's been 5 decades. The Western downfall started when the CIA took over the world, and governments allowed men to pass themselves off as women.
It's been a downfall ever since.
2004 was a crazy time.
Some of us called it back in 2022!

For A Glimpse of the Future, Look North
Hint: It's a boot stamping on a human face
Words matter.
Give it a little time, the MAIDhouses will be available AT the hockey games.
"Maple Leafs lose? End it now!"
like the abortion trucks they had at the Democratic National Convention?
Sure we do, plenty of American television viewed in Canada.
It will come
This is depressing.
Haven't you heard, vegetables have feelings too!

"Experts" deciding "experienced marksmen" is the best way to unalive large numbers of ostriches.
It really is death by a faceless bureaucracy. No names at all.
Peanut.
Midwits is too generous.
Destroying an animal and terrorizing the others at the same time. Something to look forward to.
That was a barbaric event. I hope they are sued into oblivion
That was much of the point.
Yes! Even tho I profoundly disagree with Trump on most of his big ticket items, freedom matters more.
😂😂😂
304 pages and life is unfair. So sad. Can’t wait to be confronted by The Wall Of Michelle at my next visit to Barnes and Noble. Last week I was greeted at the door by Kammie’s “107 Days” at The Best Non-fiction table. 😊
there's reasons the Obamas haven't purchased a summer cottage in Canada
