Yes. They do suck up to power. Only now it seems like the press (generally speaking) is playing some sort of end-game since it went belly-up over Trump, as if they're going all-in for the current leftist cant. I see nothing but sympathy for everyone on the left and for the forces of globalization, but not for Dementia Joe, who they are circling now that he's been steadily bleeding out into the water, now that his absolute unfitness for office becomes apparent to everyone.
Again, we seem to have different ideas on what "the left" is.
If they don't want to raise taxes on the wealthy, I don't consider them to be on the left.
If they cheerlead for the for-profit military industrial complex without exception, they are not on the left.
If they think Congress should be able to insider trade with impunity, they are not on the left.
I was taught in high school that the "The Left" or pure socialism means that the means of production should be owned collectively; "The Right" means the means of production are privately owned.
When was the last time you saw a newspaper be critical of giving publicly owned land/resources to a private interest?
Did they write about it as much as they try and gin up support to invade Ukraine?
I guess I should say that I don't GAF about cultural issues, which generally seem to cause a lot of people to vote against their own economic interests to combat things they will never have a meaningful impact on their lives. Economics is all that matters.
