I'd rather have a DeSantis/Gabbard ticket, come to that. Not that I think it's plausible.

I think the last couple weeks make it a shoo in for DeSantis if he'd just go for it. Anyone continuing to stick with Trump after the hearings...ok, they're in their own bubble. If they're not convinced at this point... Anyone with a brain knows it, that's why they'd shift to DeSantis in a second if he'd just go for it.

At least theyтАЩre young. SO time for all of the above 70 year olds to retire. And for sure the 80 year olds. No IтАЩm not ageist

For sure. The old goats need to go. I'm ageist; I'm an old guy that knows how screwed up my generation is.

IтАЩm an old (75) gal and while I donтАЩt think our generation is any worse than others, at some point it must be acknowledged that with rare exceptions, cognition fades as we get past 70, if not sooner.

Agreed. Although, anyone dissing the Boomers isn't wrong.

The boomers held the shit show together. They knew how to work, get things done and were efficient. Well-educated and competitive, they will be seen by history as the last competent American generation.

How does the song go-- "You're sure gonna miss me when I'm gone..."

So stop with the chicken-shit dissing and apologizing. When the baton passes to the millennials you'll be amazed at the confusion.

You misread and entirely misunderstand. I'm a boomer. Fuck the boomers. We'll be remembered as the generation that picked what little meat was left on the bones of America completely clean. No one's gonna miss the boomers. We came, we saw, we grabbed all we could, and blew town.

You want perfection- you'll never find it- only degrees of it within a scale. And the scale is being tipped badly in the direction of incompetence, ignorance, apathy, intolerance, violence and incivility.

At the moment, it's being held together, but threatens to come apart as the glue no longer holds.

At 68 and still fighting wildfire, I'm part of that glue. Very few left like me and it shows. My skills are in more demand than ever because so few stepped up over the last 20 years. It's insane.

You seem to demand others take over from the evil boomers and have those evil fuckers done away with. But I've yet to see who it is to take over. Who are you nominating?

I'm no curmudgeon. I have 3 teenagers in the house and work at keeping a positive attitude about the world. But I wonder what kind of people my kids will share that world with. I've lived with people whose birthdates span well over 100 years. Only recently would I have had any concern.

Yeah, I'd call your attitude chicken-shit.

That's fine. I've been called worse.

I don't think you have any idea what I'm talking about, which is also fine. I'm a year older than you, run crews, and the folks I'd nominate are Mexican and Chinese. They work as hard as I do, and we got more of it than we can get to. So, calm down, you sound like an old guy.

Misunderstandings are rife when comms are via what amounts to texting.

Mexican fire crews are some of our best, because they show up and perform as required. They generally are up here on visas. The US born folks- of any color or background? Not so much.

The comment you made about the Mexicans and Chinese? You'd nominate them to be the survivors? Now we're starting to align. The US' native-born population, at the rate things are going, will be replaced. It won't happen on the boomer's watch, though.

One last thing; you may have more than you can handle right now in what, construction? But that is only happening under unique circumstances. I'm confident that will change.

And finally, thanks for the medical advice on calming down and the warning about sounding like an old guy- I'll take it to heart.

I think most everyone has a goofy idea about society. They're like characters in that movie "Network", i.e., "I'm mad and I'm NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!". kind of shit. So, they think "revolution" is going to herald in some grand new sensibility. I propose no one has any idea what they're future should look like, so they go nuts.

Yeah, construction. I don't know what the "unique circumstances" are. I don't care. Folks imagine work is somehow going to vanish. I don't care about that that either. Predicting the future is for someone else.
