Matt, I'm pushing it on everyone I know. I watched it again today. I read the transcript a few times already. It was a great event but you carried the day.
Unless I’m mistaken, why did I not see or hear any coverage of the event on any corporate “ news” network, and yes, I’m including Fox .
I followed the emails, My daughter and son in law, neither of them particularly political, attended the event. They are absolutely guilt stricken for having ignored what’s been unfolding and now want to get involved. I followed all the talk on Substack, responded to all the email etc leading up to it, watched , forwarded the info and speeches to at least 50 people, attached it to all the sites I comment on, and rewatched all the speeches. A spectacular event.
And I’m so fucking angry I can barely breathe! It is stalwarts like Matt, Tulsi, Brett, Dr Malone, RFK Jr, Ron Johnson, Lara Logan, Naomi, Jordan Pederson,Shellenberger, Elon,Dr KoryNicole Shanahan- wonderful people coming together - putting aside the purposely created political divide… realizing we’re not each other’s enemies, but have been pitted against each other. To distract us from the horrific betrayal our fucking “ vaunted” globalist overlords have perpetrated
As tempting it may be to lose objectivity, Matt and Walter have allowed an audience from all sides by remaining as politically neutral as possible, as journalists should. I am guessing that the billionair Harris endorsements, Cheyney-like endorsements, pop-star endorsements, as well as the insane MSM proselytizing for Orwellian Liberalism, has made remaining neutral more and more difficult.
So Good! The only thing wrong is the Eminem quote is actually Eminem quoting Mobb Deep from the song “Shook Ones Pt. II” from the seminal 90’s hip hop group! Otherwise I would put them all in a rocket and shoot them straight into the sun!!! So Good!!
Yes. Please publish it everywhere. Especially for GenZ and maybe to remind GenX what they should already know. And, open minded Millenials would probably enjoy it, too. I've watched it more than once.
Most real (upper and middle class) americans care about making money (via house and stock inflation for themselves and lower wage for everybody else) much more than about a philosophical concept like free political speech, and Plaskett represents them zealously and loyally.
If free political speech might carry the risk of electing a FDR style "populist" party that might make housing and stocks cheaper and wages higher all those real (upper and middle class) americans might really dislike free political speech.
«If free political speech might carry the risk of electing a FDR style "populist" party that might make housing and stocks cheaper and wages higher»
Put another way the "Griftopia" people (which include most of the middle class) feel threatened by free political speech because free political speech might motivate the victims of "Griftopia" to organize and fight back to recover the aspects the "New Deal" that Reagan and his successors have rolled back.
Yes we need a government that represents us. Not sure exactly how long it will take to turn current system around but if we don't... say bye bye to you rights and say hello to your elitist/corporate masters. We need a French Revolution folks....off with their heads or off with yours. No time for timidity dear citizen.
It needs to be read and re read in journalism classes around the country!
Amen!
Only if a shooter is in the building and a lockdown is in effect.
You’re a good man Matt!! Impressive!!

The collective silence is unforgivable.
T
Well said Gail.
The disaster of the hurricane did likely draw attention from the event in all arenas, rightfully.
The same reason you rarely read accounts of Shriners' festivals or Renaissance Fairs.
Thanks Matt! I have shared it far and wide!! People are applauding your “ Network” moment!!
Just brilliant (as always). You are so inspiring to me and you've helped me open the eyes (and minds) of so many people. Keep on keeping on Matt!

Totally thought this was gonna be an article about the NYT and Atlantic saying your speech was a bunch of Republican Party talking points.
Did they say that?
Not yet AFAIK. There's still time.
For once the NYT would be getting something right.
Not that I know of. Didn’t mean to alarm you or anyone.
They were more dismissive of the entire event as a fringe gathering:
"‘This Is Where You End Up When You Do Your Own Research’
On the National Mall with the RFK-to-MAGA pipeline
By John Hendrickson"
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2024/09/rfk-jr-supporters-vote-trump/680081/
"Fringe of the Fringe gathering" has a nice ring to it, me thinks.
Well, the WSJ pretty much said so in this sardonic op ed: (not focused on Matt, per se, but on the whole event)

The comments section is interesting.
Hate to ad hominem someone who seems to be an ad-hominen nickelodeon machine that you can throw quarters in butt............
The woman who wrote that? Wrote Nancy Pelosi's biography.
Thanks for the link Tardigrade. Didnt know that comments section existed.
Very illuminating to read the comment section. Thank you for sharing!
It is paywalled. But the ad-hominem's were apparent from the beginning.

*Sadly terminates his video project of Matt laughing while lasering down Dick Cheney*
That's not changing the text! Do it!
You’re the man Matt!
Oh, I already shared your now classic "useless aristocrats" line and absolutely attributed your quote to you and your BRILLIANCE!! ❤️

Livin the life that of diamonds and guns
There's numerous ways you can choose to earn funds
So some get shot, locked down and turn nuns
Cowardly hearts and straight up shook ones
Thought Matt would be rocking Mobb Deep for sure😎

I don’t think GenZ can stop rizzing long enough to let Taibbi cook. On God.
Did I say that right?
"Mother fucker, I'm an American." -- Hope Delegate Plaskett hears that. Still pisses me off the way she treated you and Michael.

Matt - it was a VERY powerful speech. Congratulations.
I read your speech and enjoyed it tremendously!
Congratulations Matt! Every commenter gives you high marks, and the lineup had some excellent public speakers.
Kudos!
