You're totally right about communism. However, I've never heard a communist or Marxist admit that its been tried or failed before, so I am not sure how its defined is actually important. When it fails, its not real.

The definition of communism has nothing whatever to do with the unarguable fact that countries that have called themselves communist have not me the definition of communism. So yes, in that sense there was a labeling attempt that failed.
Was the USSR communist? If it was it must have been a stateless society where all the people are considered equal and treated equally is known as Communism.
Yeah, but every attempt has been met with as brutal a response from global capitalism as they could without killing us all in a nuclear war.
It's like saying somebody can't drive because the rich guy up the street sends groups of drivers out to crash into you every time you pull out of the driveway.
At any route, capitalism is about done, there isn't enough planet left to keep doubling the economy, so we are either going to have to figure out some kind of planned economy compromise, or get used to fighting marauders over dwindling guzzoline.
Indeed all civilizations everywhere have had blended societies.
As a species, we thrive when and to the extent that we incorporate bits of approaches. The more the better.
We usually only endanger ourselves when we glom onto some abstraction (like "capitalism" or "socialism") and try to make everything fit according to a singular plan.
Oh Karl, are you really that unaware of how capitalism (free enterprise) works? Have you never heard of Silicone Valley whose name derives from the main ingredient in computer chips? Just so you know, the biggest growth over the last 30 years in the capitalist economy you despise has occurred because of the exploitation of the second most abundant element on earth!
The only thing we, as a species, are short of is human ingenuity. We will never "run out" of anything. Once it becomes rare the price goes up and alternatives are found. Get. A. Clue!

The same with China.
Lol.
No charge.

Capitalism hasn't been tried.
Bomb throwing aside, is it not true that the vast majority of Western Civilization has settled into a blended system of socialism and capitalism?

China is by far the highest producer of silicon, geographical labels notwithstanding.
"We" as a species are out of a carbon cycle capable of sustaining us.
"We" are out of passenger pigeons.
"We" are out of solutions to pediatric cancer.
"We" are about to be out of fresh water.
"We" are out of biodiversity.
A planned economy and fighting marauders are intrinsically related.
Planning doesn't work.
Well, unplanned seems set to kill the lot of us, so maybe we should recalibrate what "working" means.
Only if you believe in that myth you're being told about global warming, and you also believe this is what "unplanned" looks like.
Tell Bezos that planning doesn't work.
Tell it to his ex.
I'm over here wasting my time with people who can't tell the difference between corporations, countries, and societies.
Right now those are all the same thing.
No, they are not. Just because you and other leftists don't believe in the family doesn't make that so for the rest of us.
Boy you sure know your catechisms.
I know my commies, in every flavor.
Thou doth protest too much? Maybe you're a closeted commie? Does the color (((Red))) make you excited and then you hate yourself? ROTFLMAO!
Well done with the freshman level psych analysis.
A comforting proxy for thought.
