I admire your concern for the truth. It takes time and effort that others don't have to expend. Nice guys finish last? Maybe. But they finish best.

His duty to the truth is exceptional. That makes his reporting glorious, and the culture sad and sick. And typical, historically. Sadly.

Noam Deplume, Jr. (look,at,me)'s avatar

Well I'm not about to get sad about it. Our culture, secretly as necessary to keep a job, is what we are.

Paige McCormick's avatar

"Sadly," meaning unfortunate. I use it like that, but your reaction is valid, whether sweet or spicy.

07/27/24: Matt must get lonely, what with all his old "friends" (Rolling Stone et al) "excommunicating" him, and his earlier opponents (let's keep the language clean, shall we?) still refusing to concede how he's changed his mind about some issues (after, to his horror, the straight-jacket crazies hijacked the Democrat party).

To boot, very few people in politics have a sense of humor (he does). Display your wit & watch them clamber* down the gangplank ropes.

*Now, there's a word that you don't see every day.

Barbara Delisi's avatar

It is very sad that journalism has become about entertainment and supporting a political party (any one)

Thank you Matt for following with open mind. There is so much right now that is a lie. Because other journalists were propping up this current administration instead of doing their job.

The entire point of a free press is to expose corruption. Wherecer it is. Not be part of it.

Don Reed's avatar

A corrupted press is worse than no press at all.

I clamber into bed every night and clamber out in the morning, determined. I have clumb many trees and, like Jethro Bodin, suspect that city folk are a deceitful sacks of shit. They claim they aren't racist but cross the street.

Don Reed's avatar

I'm clambaking the walls reading this.

John Eubanks. Now there was a professional tree climber. And a great sportsman.

07/29/24: The universe lost me with Kevin, who used to bring the old Tonight Show monologue to a screeching halt.

Excommunicated from slavery. Not that little girl !! the real thing. Free and true.

So refreshing to subscribe to a resource that promptly updates the readers when new information is discovered.

TheZeitgeist's avatar

Also refreshing to know what you're paying for your service. All the "free" media rack up giant bills on your privacy not quantifiable with money.

Substack Reader's avatar

Are you sure? Take your time. No need to rush. Snopes needed seven years to fact check the Fine People Hoax.

Jeff Kyker's avatar

Matt your as honest a journalist there is no need to apologize.

Patti B's avatar

Matt--be more specific about which video and why it is unreliable

Don Reed's avatar

Kamala dropped it in the soup.

Barbara Delisi's avatar

Fact checked? By whom? Because fact checkers really didn't come out tell lies were doing so openly. Last several years at least? So yes fa x t checkers are often part of the lying party.

Tardigrade's avatar

I usually distrust factcheckers. But in this case Matt seems to have concurred since he pulled the video.

Barbara Delisi's avatar

My comment was just that they can't be trusted. They hace an agenda. But yes fake pics and videos exist. I trust Matt investigations.

I just changed you in my phone contacts from “the tiabninator” to Matt “Axios” Taibbi.

Don Reed's avatar

07/27/24: Axios has just published an Editor's Note that emphatically states that at NO time, ever, has their internet site/magazine been named "Axios."

Don Reed's avatar

Fauci did the same thing last Tuesday, issuing an edict that "there is NO cause of death."

AzAnt's avatar

Cause of death: cessation of life.

Don Reed's avatar

So gobbly-gookie, Kamala herself must have said it.

TD's avatar

Of course you correct the record. Thats why we all subscribe. Thanks for confirming you’re in a class of your own.

John J’onzz's avatar

Which video is the unreliable one? If it's the one where she gargles chardonnay and cackles for 17 minutes, my sources inform me that it's real.

Eric Brader's avatar

For those Pol Pot Progressives who don’t know what a retraction is. It’s what evanescently appears from the ether in small print out of context out of date on the bottom of page 36 of the New York Times “It’s just old news” section. Thank you Matt. You and Walter are the best. Please do shows more than once a week. I never miss a show. You are the only fresh air to be had all week - otherwise I must unwillingly inhale the putrid vapors from the rotting corpse of MSM so that I might extract a few molecules of breathable air in the interim.

Barbara Delisi's avatar

Ok. I missed it. So what video and what was reliable?

Douglas Mailly's avatar

Specifically which video?

Amusings's avatar

Which video? Please? If it appears elsewhere we'd like to know and since you're the only honest guy out there, help us.

CUNAEUS's avatar

waah, I want to see an unreliable video.

Annabelle Lee's avatar

My unverified guess, I think Matt had an unreliable video of Alan Greenspan inhaling ether from a tank from the old days before modern anesthesia, like Dr. Wilbur Larch in the novel Cider House Rules.

In terms of authenticity the following Kamala Harris campaign ad is completely unreliable (though reliable to elicit a laugh response):

https://x.com/mrreaganusa/status/1816826660089733492?s=46&t=pZQPMkBE7-dy_PSQzB5RGQ

Annabelle Lee's avatar

Got it! Thank you for straightening this out. While the video is a fake, the “drunk Kamala” theory would actually explain a lot.

Don Reed's avatar

07/27/24: Thank goodness for one less video, regardless of content or reason why it was given back to Kamala to rewind (her next job, starting in January 2025, head mattress inspector at the Joe Biden Bar, Grill & Rehoboth Beach Presidential Library, scheduled to be raided by the Wray-Free FBI in April 2026).

Don Reed's avatar

Quote her a price and see what happens.

Don Reed's avatar

Try not to include, in your offer, rolled-up pennies and dimes. She has her dignity to uphold and defend, you know...

Barbara Delisi's avatar

I would not assume these lies won't work. "Repeat a lie enough and it (is accepted) as truth" very real danger.

Kandy's avatar

yes, i read a prior post about it being AI generated...?
