Did you also see her scream “Get out of my fucking shot” live to one of her staffers. She is truly insane. There is a treasure trove on this one. She has zero self control. And hilariously she will probably win the CA governor’s race because they are so stupid.

Yuri Bezmenov's avatar

Abusive AWFL Karen is the mascot of California. She also dumped hot potatoes on her ex husband’s head. How progressive!

Indecisive decider's avatar

KPort is also verbally abusive to her kid. Unless she's using her as a prop as she did when she claimed her 12 year old daughter said she was afraid of getting raped and not being able to get an abortion because Trump won.

A.'s avatar

I find it appalling when a parent uses a child in this way.

Jrod's avatar

Somebody actually impregnated her? ewww gross!

Indecisive decider's avatar

I mean... he probably just threw it at her.

Debby Huntington's avatar

That is so gross I’m still laughing!!

Sarah A C's avatar

🤣😂You did not just write that. 💀☠️💀

JZ's avatar

What is even more concerning is that she makes it sound like her daughter's fear is not that she may be raped.....the fear is not being able to get the abortion. 🤔 As someone who lives in California, I'd like her to explain this. How about we talk about crime and maybe NOT getting raped. Oh wait, that would be on the same page as Trump. True TDS

Why do you think that video of Porter is out there today? Just a coincidence you think? Porter is one of the better politicians in California, which is admittedly a low bar. Do you think Pelosi and Newsom and Kamala Harris never had a cross word for anyone? The reason this video is out there is because California elites don't want Porter anywhere near the governor's mansion. They didn't want her or Barbara Lee, another conscientious politician, anywhere near the senate either so they rigged the game for Adam Schiff, who is now a senator. This video is a deliberate attempt to take Porter down. Rather than mocking, maybe a better use of time would be to find out who wanted this video out there, how much they paid to do so, and who made it go viral. Bash Porter all you want, but in doing so you are being a useful tool for the likes of Adam Schiff. And all the "own the libs" types around here really need to get a grip and start thinking before spouting off.

Evil Incarnate's avatar

I don't doubt she's made enemies in the CA Democrat party. And your characterization of her as "conscientious" might even be accurate.

I'd like you to tell us though, conscientious about what? People like her who think they know EVERYTHING, who feel sorry for every person with a sad story, and who think more government will solve all problems are running this country into the ground.

Christine's avatar

I do not think that she is capable of empathy.

Garrett Phillips's avatar

I can't imagine making excuses for that disastrous performance. It's viral because it's laughably bad, not because powerful Dems want it to be.

I understand what you’re saying, but it is not simply one moment in that interview, it is many completely painful moments where she’s expecting to be treated like a queen by a journalist and behaves horribly…and then the “You’re in my shot” moment, and then the potatoes... She comes across as a horrible human being.

Mark Blair's avatar

The potatoes thing is making my scalp twinge in sympathy pains each time I look at her.

From NY Post: Rep. Katie Porter sparks fury with Batgirl costume in Congress

https://nypost.com/2019/11/01/rep-katie-porter-sparks-fury-with-batgirl-costume-in-congress

And you think this Porter is a "conscientious politician"?

She may be passionate in representing her views (not the same as representing her constituents), but I gotta tell ya, she has terrible judgement.

I remember an interview of some pol a few years back. Interview totally unimportant, it was the background that was memorable. About 30 feet back in the hallway is Nancy Pelosi doing a literal balls-to-the-wall dressing down of a staffer. Probably before her last face-lift because you could see this horrific anger on her face as she leaned in and shook her finger in the poor kid's face.

I recall her dressing down AOC over the Iron Dome vote right on the house floor. AOC cried when she cast her vote. My presumption is that it must sting the first time you sell your soul for your ambitions. I told my wife then that you don't become a Senator in NY and vote against Israel. Look where we find ourselves now.

Mrs. Erika Reily's avatar

"That video is out there"

You're talking about the original interview, right? That was recorded by choice with a journalist for the purpose of being, you know, out there? You're talking as though it was some leaked private thing. She actually chose to sit down with the reporter and be recorded for public consumption and then proceeded to confidently demonstrate her awfulness on about six levels. This is all Katie Porter, sugar. There's no conspiracy here.

ERIN REESE's avatar

Interesting possibility! I'd be curious your own personal impressions of Porter and her ability to lead.

Haywood Giablomi's avatar

It's a big internet out there and there's plenty on Porter. But I found a decent article summarizing what she's about for you - https://enewspaper.latimes.com/infinity/article_share.aspx?guid=f7067315-4f8c-4986-b38e-be78bcb256bf She has been punished by her own party for actually trying to get something done. If she is ticking off members of both parties because she is trying to get to the bottom of corruption and waste, then she must be doing something right. But what do I know? The "own the libs" people here are probably correct and Cali should just elect some rich as hell Orange County republican instead- I'm sure that will fix things.

Indecisive decider's avatar

First, your name. Well done on the Italian spelling.

Second, as quaint as this will sound, you have to be somewhat likable to get things done. She is not. Her lack of professionalism is alarming and the more we learn and see of her, the worse it gets.

Put another way, Adam Schiff just defeated her. Adam Schiff. Woof.

She is a poor leader. Her boorish behavior when not getting everything she wants is a flashing Vegas style billboard that is telling us to run.

This comment has nothing to do with D vs R. This has to do with having people like Karen Bass, Newsom, Kamala and other horrible CA politicians turn this place into a dumpster fire.

Enough is enough.

Christine's avatar

You summed her up nicely.

Haywood Giablomi's avatar

Schiff defeated her because he spent a ton of money promoting Steve Garvey's campaign. Last I checked, Garvey was not a member of Schiff's party. She got screwed.

LBJ used to hold meetings while taking a crap, and he got the Great Society legislation passed, so don't try this bunk about civility winning the day.

She seems like she's pissed off all the right people to me, and they didn't want her on the house financial committee. The committee that deals with all the money. The money that Congress and their donors have made sure eventually flows to them via the policies they create. Policies that have created the spectacular wealth inequality that is ruing this entire country. Why is it do you think that they didn't want her on that committee? You think the crooks are going to stop by someone asking nicely?

I'm not saying she is some paragon on integrity and virtue, but she's damn well better than the rest of the crooks California has put into office.

Tapestrygarden's avatar

So well said! I just wonder at the choice between Porter and Schiff, the lesser of two evils?

I live in Oregon so I am very familiar with the AWFLs who have taken over the Democrat party.

Evil Incarnate's avatar

Your praise for someone who behaves as she does - with cameras on her no less! - is a bit too effusive.

She may be doing great and I'm too stupid to see it. Some say there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Christine's avatar

Well, Cali is at rock bottom, so they cannot make it worse.

Indecisive decider's avatar

Ah, you don't know CA voters. Let me explain....

This last January, we had 18,000 homes and apartment complexes burn up in a fire where a reservoir sat empty, there was no water pressure in hydrants and the mayor was on official city of LA business in Ghana at the time.

We learned that the empty reservoir was a known problem and that the LAFD and water utility had not been in contact with one another to resolve this problem and that the mayor, who was in Ghana, didn't know of this problem either.

In most places, with clear thinking people, this would be enough to trigger recall elections within a few weeks. CA? Nope. The same dopes that watched this happen are still at the taxpayer teet.

Sadly, the majority of CA voters continue to vote for incompetence that could best be described as similar to that of Warren from There's Something About Mary.

We will see what staff & colleagues reveal over time -- thus far, reportage has been not been very favorable. There are critical factors in successful leadership -- just claiming you are one w/o the receipts doesn't make it so. Having worked in that building, I don't see "getting to the bottom" as among her signature behaviors!

Mark Blair's avatar

I have yet to see anything good from her. She didn't seem too sharp on Bill Maher, either. So far with her, we seem to have:

- The obnoxious performance with the reporter

- Her berating her assistant on camera.

- Her scalding her ex-husband's head by dumping hot mashed potatoes on it.

- Her weird restraining order situations with the ex-boyfriend.

There is a lot of smoke here... Kamala had a lot of smoke too, as did Hillary....

I have no problem voting for women -- happy to do so, but I'll never vote for a Karen. Not a personality type I want in any decision making capacity.

What is the single biggest thing she has done that could change my mind?

Are they though? I’ve come to the conclusion that the gerrymandering, mail in “voting”, illegals and election software issues have just as much, if not more to do with their current plight as the stupidity of half the real voters. Otherwise it wouldn’t have had any republican governors in recent history which isn’t the case. Mail in voting and ballot stuffing will be all of our doom if we don’t get rid of it.

Sea Sentry's avatar

Here in California, they’re never through. The upcoming Prop 50 election (cost:$300m+ in a state running huge deficits) overrides the 2013 voter approved redistricting plan and practically erases any Republican (40% of state’s electorate) representation in state government. A native Californian, it’s the only voter guide I’ve ever received with no pro and con submissions from the (Democratic) secretary of state. That’s because there is no pro except naked politics. The “Yes” signs show cute dogs on them so uninformed voters will think it has something to do with pets. It will pass because the heavily unionized state workers will be told to turn out and, like good lemmings, they will.

It’s hard to imagine anyone worse than the slimy Gavin Newsom, but I’m beginning to think Porter could pull it off.

Slight correction… the independent redistricting was passed in 2008, and drew lines following the 2010 and 2020 censuses. Ironically this measure originally passed with broad Democrat support because it was thought politically useful at the time (pack the “independent” commission!). Now even that isn’t good enough as the Dems want it all.

Jrod's avatar

Democrats already have it all, at the state level anyhow. It's unbelievable.

Sea Sentry's avatar

I don’t know the details of what is happening in Texas, though I’ve read that is sounds similar, in that case in favor of Republicans.

But my state is California. The idea of changing our state’s political makeup because of what is going on in Texas suggests that the citizens of California only matter insofar as they contribute to a national outcome, and that the myriad issues facing local communities are irrelevant. I don’t accept that.

This is an ego play by Newsom, IMO. Texas Democrats can take up their concerns with Texas courts.

GOP states out of the Top 10 Gerrymandered states

1. North Carolina

2 Dem

3.South Carolina

4.Dem

5. Texas

6. Wisconsin

7. Dem

8. Florida

9. Ohio

10 Dem

Of special note, North Carolina Dems put a law against unequal gerrymandering up in 2022. Since then the GOP struck that down.

That's 6 of the top 10 repub -- and we all lose. I think we can agree that balanced representation is something we'd all like to see.

A bit off topic but: As a native of the American Southwest I regret what the DNC/Mayorkas/Soros NGO immigration debacle has done to race relations here. If we believe reports out of Europe, the Globalist use of forced mass illegal migration to destabilize nations and economies there is exactly the vicious methodology that was applied to our Republic. It was an extreme action and I see no way the current administration can confront it without extreme action in response. "..damned if you do damned if you don't.." (It's the DNC way.)

Though our current President has reached nothing like the level of deportations of past administrations the hate mongering divisive DNC--and the MSM continue to exploit racial division at every opportunity. It is criminal in both action, intent and outcome. A look at Señor Taibbi's HATE INC. says it far better than I but, the experiential street level tragedy of what was once a warm and accommodating daily culture reduced to an atmosphere of chilling suspicion and animosity is a barometer of just how powerful and destructive the "rent-a-riot" psyop Globalist/DNC/CIA/Davos lie attempting to subsume our lives has become. It is intentional not accidental.

Mexican's are some of the most creative, hard working and talented people in the world. If the classic American family is to survive the Mexican/Spanish inborn honoring and love of kinship and community will be a core element. As a child of the 60's, despite the object lesson murder of every sane American voice that emerged,I witnessed a divided and segregated America begin to heal and prosper. Then, a handful of political grifters and billionaire hustlers decided to destroy "the American dream". Let me say it again: The walking wounded are everywhere.

(As a suggestion to journalists who might be interested--there are actual immigration laws on the books--beyond those seeking citizenship-- that allow the legal importation of labor--wouldn't that be a logical place to begin the immigration/labor debate.)

Those living in the million buck bubble may still be able to see daylight. Those battered senseless by the psyop working two jobs and buying food on credit to feed their hungry children existing inside the blasted landscape of Globalist machination not so much. There is the American Republic, the Constitution and the free citizen. Those who say otherwise are not your friend. Depart the psyop and live.

(Sorry to be so long winded I.)

Anne McKinney's avatar

It is a most coherent reflection of what many who observed that time frame in society & felt the healing that was beginning among citizenry ... and then identity comparisons began to flare more than any of we, who sailed onto the planet after WWII, had ever seen or could have imagined the fraught outcomes of such policies -- prompting many to wonder if all this identity culture focus is not an organic emerging as expounded in so many writings. 🤔 Just a thought

Vote fraud has always been with us. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be trying to stop it, we should do everything we can to stop it. For a great look at old time vote fraud ask grok to summarize Robert Caro’s account of LBJ’s vote fraud in literally every single election he participated in.

DaveL's avatar

His recounting of the south Texas election for Johnson’s 1948 Senate bid takes the cake!

I sure hope Caro can finish the last Johnson book before he dies.

Johnson defies summation. Robert Caro has said that. Your characterizing Lyndon Johnson as a psychopath doesn't stand up against his advocacy of civil rights. He had to walk an extremely fine line in doing so because when he was in the Senate, Texas was segregationist. It wasn't as bad as Mississippi or Alabama, and things were beginning to change, still, he had to be careful.

In 1961, when Johnson was Vice President, the family's housekeeper, who was black, drove south for a vacation. There used to be a book which was published annually which informed blacks where in the south, especially, they could find decent lodgings. Apparently, she didn't have one. She had to sleep in her car. That single incident incensed Johnson in such a lasting way that he began to press the Kennedys on civil rights.

Not characteristic of a psychopath.

Some of the most interesting reading in the massive Caro biography of Johnson is about his first job, as debate coach at a predominantly Hispanic high school in Texas. Johnson was the first debate coach the impoverished school had ever had who actually gave a damn about his job. Of course, in those days ( 1930s ), debate teams were all male. Johnson worked those poor kids, whom no one had ever thought could amount to much, so thoroughly that they made the final in the state competition. They lost. Johnson had to run for the bathroom to vomit. Caro doesn't deny that Johnson had ego investment in their success, but he doesn't doubt that Johnson's feelings for those boys was genuine, and that he was heartbroken by their defeat.

Not characteristic of a psychopath.

Also at that first job, Johnson discovered that the school's custodian has never learned to read. Johnson made it his business to teach the man to read.

Not characteristic of a psychopath.

Clearly, Johnson was a grandiose narcissist, and clearly, he could be a mean son of a bitch, but I object to some anonymous character assassin's making such a comment as you made.

Now, that sort of thing is characteristic of a psychopath.

Rock_M's avatar

No, just the 1948 Senate election. This was routine at the time and his opponent did it too. Roll back a few decades and votes were bought at a quarter each in Southern elections. Roll back a few more decades and the payment was in whiskey.

It's already happening. Videos of her yelling at aids and a new one where she claims her 12 year old daughter said she was worried about being raped and not being able to get an abortion because Trump won.

That either is a breathtaking fabrication or sweet Kaite P is even worse than she is letting on as a parent.

Brian DeLeon's avatar

Somewhere in California, someone is already organizing a recall campaign of Katie Porker in case she’s elected governor.

Tardigrade's avatar

I noticed in the video Matt linked that one of the candidates is Xavier Becerra, who was Biden's HHS secretary through the entire Covid debacle. Gack.

California is bereft of any political Talent from democrats. The vast majority of Democrats in California are very similar to this.

Aaron S's avatar

The whole party is bereft of talent. It amazes me to hear Dems talk about what a deep bench they have. I mean if they are campaigning to be editor of the Washington Post, that's one thing. But there isn't a single Democrat, with the possible exception of Alexandria Ozempic Cortez, that has actual political talent.

Lia's avatar

John Fetterman?

Rock_M's avatar

They're going to drive him out soon.

Aaron S's avatar

He has good instincts and seems more in touch with the average independent voter than any other Democrat, but I wouldn't say he has much political talent. Communication is at least half of the job of a politician, and he simply struggles to communicate in person. Not his fault, but still.

Adam's avatar

That's because Newsom successfully lowered the bar during his tenure and is now setting his sights on grabbing the reins of the federal government so he can steer the whole country towards the success he had in Cali... highest rate of homeless in the country, 2nd lowest homeownership rate in the country, highest poverty rate when you factor in cost of living, gasoline 30% higher than national average, electricity rates 2x the national average...

If none of that sounds like success, one can surely appreciate the fact that he signed meaningful, impactful, legislation such as mandating gender neutral toy and toothbrush sections at box stores, laws regulating how servers/employees can hand out ketchup packets... and while the Palisades were on fire earlier this year, he took leadership over a special CA legislative session to approve $50 million in taxpayer funds to aid.... undocumented immigrants fighting against the Trump admin! Many would have thought that session would have been to address/support the fires/victims... but many aren't the great leader that is Newsom!

ocjackel's avatar

Don't forget he wants $5 per gallon gas across the land!

DaveL's avatar

A true leader!

John Duffner's avatar

Ironically, thanks to CA's jungle primary system designed to prevent GOP candidates from reaching the general, she may actually need to appeal to the other side.

Aaron S's avatar

Right? That was the whole point of the reporter's question, but Mashed Potatoes is so arrogant that she somehow thinks "I don't intend for that to be the case" will run all of the other Dems out of the race.

DMC's avatar

or she thinks their votes dont count. I can see how she would think lie that

Sea Sentry's avatar

We often end up with two Democrats on the ballot due to California’s primary system.

Aaron S's avatar

But the two candidates behind her in the polls are Republicans.

Sea Sentry's avatar

True this time. I don’t think either has the slightest chance though.

John Duffner's avatar

So you can choose between a far left democrat, or a really far left democrat. Democracy!

Sea Sentry's avatar

That’s exactly the choice in California. Shiff is considered a “moderate “ here.

No, she's too emotional. Psychopaths don't go to pieces like that. Sociopaths do, however, as do people with borderline personality disorder.

Doctors, sociologists, criminologists are learning that people with Cluster B personality disorder often seem to be hybrids. Porter may well be sociopathic. She's pretty clearly a lovely combination of grandiose narcissist and borderline personality.

Huey Long was one of the most brilliant politicians the country ever produced. His biographer, T. Harry Williams, believed Long was as much a political genius as the man who stood between himself and the presidency, its then occupant, Franklin Roosevelt. Williams wrote that part of Long's genius was his awareness that no matter what anyone said about him, one thing which could ruin him politically would be losing his temper in public.

I had never heard of that woman before yesterday. She isn't going to wear well.

A lovely couple of serial killers. I could definitely imagine Mashed Potatoes sitting in a basement sewing a lampshade out of human skin while her campaign ads played in the background.

I spend winters in San Diego. I got a full dose of this female Haystack Calhoun when she was running for the Senate. And, living most of the year in Minnesota, we have the Wicked Witch Amy Klobuchar. Toxic femininity.

Earl Camembert's avatar

I salute you for the Haystacks Calhoun reference.

I was thinking Gorilla Monsoon, but Haystacks is much better.

Brian DeLeon's avatar

I just looked up Haystacks Calhoun. Holy smokes!

Nicholas Spinelli's avatar

We Old Timers have references the young folks don't get, and vice versa. Google solves that.

Horatius Dumpp's avatar

Yep - Man Mountain Mike! But her face is a bit more like Randy Savage.

Sea Sentry's avatar

I’m not a Klobuchar fan, but I’ll swap you Amy for Porter and, if you act now, I’ll throw in Kamala at no extra cost.

Nicholas Spinelli's avatar

If we're horse trading, any deal has to include Walz and Ilhan. So..Klobuchar, Walz and Ilhan for Porter and Kamala. I'll also include cash. It flows freely in the Mecca of Fraud, Minnesota.

Sea Sentry's avatar

Whoa, whoa… no deal! Those two wackos? I’ll counter with Gavin and Schiff.

Nicholas Spinelli's avatar

I think we need to have a 3 team[state] deal. Any other states like Illinois or NY want to do a mega deal?

Earl Camembert's avatar

Holy crap, will you take Brandon Johnson? We'll even throw in an ex-governor.

Hell, we'll throw in an ex-governor who *hasn't* been to jail. For Illinois, that's like an original "Star Wars" toy in its original box - it's a collectible.

DaveL's avatar

What’s the name of that idiot from Washington state?

I loved the part, roughly translated! “…40%?! What do I need THEM for?” It’s not about public service representing the interests of the public, it’s about my power, and what I have to do to appease my supporters so they keep me in power.

Anti-Hip's avatar

Her flippant, caustic and apparently genuine reference -- as a politician, on tape! -- to what she clearly considers as human garbage (not worthy of serving them as citizens, never mind of having the vote) made me wince. And I'm on the left.

Michelle Enmark, DDS's avatar

And then came the hand waving...oh my! That did it for me! Such a loser...

michele burns's avatar

Reminds me of Hillary’s “basket of deplorables” gaff. Obviously this type of politician doesn’t even pretend to want to represent all their constituents. They’re bought and paid for and they know who their masters are…and it’s never the voters.

BRetty's avatar

I have a very very low-information friend who mostly sends me anti-Trump crap off Facebook, but even he remembers Hillary's deplorables comment, WITH her hand gestures of "put them in the basket." That's epic psycho fail by HRC.

Senator Amy Klobuchar vs Rep Katie Porter. Closed arena, weapons of choice scattered randomly around the arena floor: binders (hard cover) and steaming bowls of potato. Each warrior gets to select two staffers to act as minions/meat shields but no points are scored for downing staffers. Winner gets to take a picture with Zelensky.

DaveL's avatar

Zelensky a nice touch!

Ronda Ross's avatar

Brilliant. Klobuchar is every bit as bad, but lives in the MidWest where polite is still the expected default. Porter is a product of "honor your child" CA, where the word "no" is synonymous with child abuse.
