I don’t think he was that calculating, honestly. I think Trump thinks about Trump. I’ll give him his due credit: he had his instinctive finger on the pulse of (understandable) white working class anger. Dems helped him a lot by failing to deliver what old school Dems used to; they became the party of wealthy elites versus caring about the working class.

Watch his Oprah interview from 25 year ago. Most people are wrong about Trump in terms of his beliefs driving his politics and not some opportunist changing his stripes to please his handlers like Biden.

I was actually going to say this. Trump has remained remarkably more consistent over the past three decades than any career politician could ever hope to be.

Possibility but trump has been a media presence my entire adult life despite me trying to avoid him. What I do know is he never let a lie get in the way of whatever he was promoting. But I will reiterate what I said. Upon winning he felt the need to deliver on his commitments. Whether that was based on his convictions or other motives it was true. And that is something the people who ran, and still run, the Republican party would never do.

I agree. What i was describing is the tactical approach, I do not think three was a long term strategic plan other than to expand the Trump brand.

that is true, but the people that hold those values, vote the D party line across the board.

Granted it you can argue that they don't see a valid alternative.
