Just doing my best to persuade with logic. I know that NJ is highly likely to vote for the Dem nominee in high enough percentages such that it would appear that voting for anyone else is fruitless. The same was thought in Florida in 2000. The same was thought in North Carolina and Florida and Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in 2016. If logic isn't enough, I thought, wrongly, that an appeal to emotion (a logical fallacy) might work - the emotion being the fear of feeling absolutely sick to your stomach after refusing to vote, and only finding out after the fact that your vote could have prevented the greater of two evils from obtaining the highest office in the land. But apparently there are a number of political gadflies (defined as those who are critics of all candidates, but don't seem to have better offer to make - I prefer the term gadfly to narcissist) among the group in this thread, so, you're right about not being able to reason with a political gadfly.
