I don't understand why no one has written a book on the Twitter files. There is so much to write about (there probably could be many books). It really needs to be in book form so it can be discussed in its entirety, including expanding on the issues vital to Democracy. There's also a lot of good narrative, so it would work as a book. In fact, it would work as a movie, if Hollywood ever would be inclined to produce such a thing, which is unlikely. However, a book is a first step.
NOTE: After I posted the comment, Matt said he is writing a book. So, good!
I was never a fan of social media. I dabbled on the periphery, like this comments section, and over that period I went from not a fan, to repelled, to frightened by the content and behavior. Around the time of the Twitter files I began thinking that something had to be done - the "something" being some kind of speech control.
Something, but what? I had lots of ideas, you betcha! However, Matt Taibbi's reporting over these fraught years always showed that I was wrong. Dead wrong! Always!! Now I know there's only one way to go and it's pedal to the metal, baby! As much as I hate insults (I hate them because the sob would NEVER say it to my face), it's Free Speech Or Die Muthafuckas!
The one entity that I cannot bring myself to say deserves free speech - the New York Times (I wish a giant light ray would beam from the sky and turn them all into charcoal briquettes!) they got the Mick Jagger interview... those undeserving bastards! I hope Jagger raked them over the coals! I hope he charged so much that they had to take out a loan to pay him!
Only 4 comments here so far. What does that mean? It's statistically significant for sure, but what is it? It's easy to say it's because no one cares anymore, it's old news, etc, but I think it goes deeper. Much deeper. Deep like this current train wreck of a country could've been avoided, had only a few key people responded rationally to what was right before their eyes.
Everyone knew it, because that's what everyone said. When any talk of government monitoring, or speech controls came up, even when the Twitter files broke, it was received with a shrug and a "of course their doing it, so what?" attitude.
"So what?" actually came to be. It arguably played a roll in a walking corpse becoming President, a stolen presidential election, multiple presidential assassination attempts, a fragment of a biological weapon (thank God it was just a piece!) to be unleashed on the world, a complete brainwashing of millions of dull Americans leading to a mostly polarized nation, and a revolution that luckily only became the J6 riot. I could go on.
The Twitter files were disturbing. Reading the reporting sometimes upset my stomach. That same shit was greeted by Americans mostly with a shrug when it came out. Amazing! It's like having two big dogs crapping in a small backyard and never going out there. You know they're doing it twice a day times two, but as long as you don't look, you don't see. But it gets harder to not see as they start tracking dogshit in to the house on their paws, but somehow you don't see. By the time you finally step out back, the dogs are rolling around in it and eating it like it's Purina. Welcome to the "so what?" world.

One of the few ways to get the attention of the IRS that does not involve tax fraud
