Very much looking forward to the new show. I was not familiar with The Assemblywomen before this but I read it yesterday. Definitely funny and relevant 2000+ years later. Best of luck Matt and Brad, I hope you guys have great success!
Very enjoyable! Thank you gents! I had posted that Brad Pearce had an all American hero sounding name, and now I see that he kind of looks like a streetwise Boy Wonder. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
Hey, Matt. I thought that maybe you had decided to terminate your posts altogether (really). I have been a faithful multi-year subscriber of yours and must admit that when you let Walter Kirn go I was disappointed by his replacement-- in the extreme. That being said I acknowledge and accept that this was your decision to make and I continued to listen to as much as I could bear of your new program presentations with Brad. Then, your posts just disappeared altogether. I have always enjoyed the literary/books portion of your presentations, but those also seemed to go along with Mr. Kirn. Glad to see you are getting back into this thicket. I DO love literature. Now my questions are: How is it that I finally received this Program notice concerning the "all-books" presentation, and why is it that, to find it I have to go somewhere else (e.g.: "X)? I neither use nor want "X", although I certainly have no issues with Mr. Musk having taken over its operations. Help! I'm confused. Losing you is like losing an old friend (truly).
How will "interaction" be handled? I will never Live-comment on YouTube. I apprecite Brad's early interaction with commenters/subscribers. Please pay more attention to your subscribers here rather than randos on the Internet.
Matt, just a historical note. Charleston SC was put under siege during both the Revolution and the Civil War. The second lasted nearly two years and was, until the Leningrad siege in WWII, the longest siege in modern military history. It was less horrific than the Leningrad siege. Still, there is one US city that has a deep historical memory of siege tactics.
I thought the siege of Vicksburg was the longest at 47 days. I stand corrected. Lincoln did comment that the fall of Vicksburg was the key to winning the war. Just read the Charleston siege was some 587 days! Thanks for the information.
Been ages since I read Aristophanes. Have it on my kindle and accidentally read Thesmophoriazusae instead of Ecclesiazusae, because, well, it's all Greek to me. Made up for the mistake late last night.
Both plays are great, and reinforced each other quite well!
Brad, I read a couple bits at your Substack, and I am un-nerved at how much our sentences sound alike. If you also look like me I probably cannot watch!.
I’m thinking Brad will be an enormous well spring of literary knowledge. I’m personally stoked about what’s coming down the road. Thanks for putting this on.

Brad Pearce is a brilliant genius.
I saw that you had him on to discuss Sudan last year.
I know nothing about Sudan, but the name.
Eager to listen and learn more.
Could you please, in future, link us to the translation you will be reading beforehand?
Looking forward to this! I miss Walter KIrn, big-time.

He didn’t fire Walter or make the decision for him to leave.
He’s said this probably bordering on several dozen times now, publicly.

I'm so primed for this to be smutty humor, I read the very beginning as:
"O radiant *DICK* of my ceramic lamp,
fairest invention of skilled artisans,
I shall reveal your pedigree and fortunes fair.
For, whirled on the wheel by the potter’s impetus, "
