After the Cold War ended, overall EU+CAN spending trended down and leveled off despite adding 12 countries to NATO, then started increasing in 2014. Funny how the majority of countries only started to meet their contractual 2% GDP spending on defense in 2024 - was it late 2024 after Trump was elected? And even then, the US was still funding 2/3 of the total. It's about time Europe ramps up their defense spending.
