I have utter distain for Leslie Stahl. She’s a journalist not a friggin actress… and yet, that is exactly what she was doing. Acting and LYING. She knew Trump was right. But he must be silenced…. Good lord, what country is this! Stay the course Matt!! Illl be listening!

"Journalists" like Leslie Stahl are paid to conceal the real news ... and to NOT do important real investigations.

Fortunately, the mainstream press is "Dead Man Walking." That's one of the great silver linings of our "New Normal" times.

Again, sad that all I have to say is “ shame on you Leslie Stahl”… talk about power trips!!!

I disagree. The zombies will keep walking. And Biden will keep walking like a zombie.

I look around at our politicians, professors/teachers, lawyers, the legacy media and hollywood and all I see, with the exception of Taibbi and a few other notables, is a bunch of professional LIARS posing for the public and dedicated to deception. You may call them Actors, if you wish, but I prefer the obvious! And the ubiquitously used "untruths" is not truthful enough for me.

You are only seeing it now because of the internet and independent media, but it's been happening forever.

This is very true. One thing the past 9 years has taught me is that Watergate was worth my re-evaluation.

I also re-evaluated Kent State and my opinions changed entirely.

I try not to dive deep into any of these potential "conspiracies" in order to preserve my sanity, but it's hard not to notice the blatant lies and manipulation from the Gov/ media cabal.

I'm showing my age here, but I remember being taught about yellow journalism and jingoism in school and it made me think about media differently thereafter. My simplification of this mess is the following: if you feel that dissent is problematic ("You're either with us, or against us", "Trust the science", etc. etc.) then they are likely to be lying.

I think that the yellow journalism is more indicative of the normal state of media. I think that what we got used to, a broad media consensus that was left leaning and always a bit biased but not too badly, was the exception for several decades, and now we're back to the typical state of affairs.

Expand full comment

That's a good point. The post war consensus was the rise of the managerial elite and their attempt to promulgate a capitalist/ statist world. Early on, I believe they really thought they had figured it all out, but now it has become corrupt and obviously untenable. The result is, as you said, a return to the typical state of affairs.

Yes, postwar collaboration helped by the state of video distribution at the time being 3 major broadcast channels, driving greater consensus and easier uniparty message control.

I mean, the absolute breakthrough of the past decade is social media allowing public figures to speak directly to the people without a media writer filtering the content, as well as greater access to primary content. I can't tell you how much my distrust of the media today is fed by them including a link to primary video content that supposedly proves their point and instead reveals their deception. Their shiftily worded descriptions become transparent... narrowly true often, but worded purposefully for deception.

Idk, in some sense she may actually be an actress. She's got a role to play clearly.

When I watched this interview with my wife I said "she's lying". I could hear it in her voice. It seemed like she almost felt guilty about it. I'm probably wrong about that last part.

Expand full comment

I didn’t think she was necessarily lying, I just didn’t find her didactic Tone appropriate or warranted… and the fact that she was lying, is really offensive!! Arrogant snot!

I refuse to watch 60 Minutes, particularly following that interview and its attempts to reinvigorate Paul Ehrlich's "Population Bomb" rhetoric. Its not even worth 1 minute of my time.

I stopped watching decades ago when I first became aware of their fake news and how they are a mouthpiece for the liberal agenda. I saw many stories about companies and issues I was very informed about and I knew they were not presenting the whole story they presented a highly edited version in order to push a certian view point thus leading the viewer to an incorrect conclusion. As one matures one discovers that most stories are more complex then first presented and can't be wrapped up in 5 minute segments, thus 60 minutes is just sensational news reporting not much different than the National Enquirer. Finally, when someone or a news agency misleads/lies to you then you never know when they are telling the truth so one must stop listening to them as a relaible source of information.

I've about reached the answer that the only "solution" that might work is the abolishment of the FBI (and about 30 other alphabet "intelligence" agencies, including the CIA).

Regarding the fact "Sixty Minutes" won't investigate itself or correct the record, about all we can do is ... what Matt's team is trying to do right now! Expose them for who they really are.

Thanks for this project.

P.S. We also need more Americans to discover Substack.

I find it comical. Many, many, many years ago the lauded Dan Rather, gave an interview and said that once educated you became liberal completely oblivious to thd fact that everyone who believes in the US Constitution is liberal.

Nary an eyebrow was raised. Like a lot of things I did not grasp the full implications at the time.

~ the collusion of the MSM/Wash press corps with the Swamp/DNC/RNC; combined w/the Govt social media control attempts is the greatest mass civil rights violation since Jim Crow. Whether you believe voting is rigged or not, does it matter when most lines of public communication are directed by those in control? ~

No. There is a vast difference between a legitimately free vote and the appearance thereof.

The media lost my trust long ago.

I spent a long time thinking it was a source of information before realizing it was an organ of manipulation.

Here in Canada the media is on its deathbed and the only thing keeping it alive is monetary transfusions from government - ironically, those transfusions are hastening its demise as they only accelerate the public distrust that was the cause of the decline in the first place.

Expand full comment

This is another example of my "Law of Opposite Effects." The government and their crony partners (like Gates) are trying to "save journalism" with their subsidies, grants and extra vaccine advertisement spends. But, as you point out, this just accelerates the death of same.

Expand full comment

Considering some of that money is going into TV (Robyn Hood, for one) that is so execrable and mean spirited, one can take hope that not only will the public reject the message (many have) but the government will be hastening the time when it cannot pay for such dreck anymore.

Hey Matt, I’d consider it the best 80th birthday (on 9/30) present possible if you, Kirn and Shellenberger and crew would cooperate on a motion picture exposing what these establishment criminals have have put our country through for years now. It’s imperative that action is taken to wipe the smarmy, snotty looks on the faces of creeps like those out front on 60 Minutes and it must be done in a way that garners very broad National an international distribution. Keep up the good work.

A lot of this stuff was allowed to happen only because of the deep hatred of Donald Trump. Pointing this wrongdoing out would get you painted as his biggest fan.

Expand full comment

Yup, and their hatred is based on fear. I want to know the basis of that fear. That’s the $64 Gazillion question.

They fear Trump will no longer escalate foreign wars. The wars are the root of all the evils and are essential for the money laundering which in turn allows for the MIC controlled/war monger pols to get re-elected and maintain control over the purse strings. And now Big Ag, Big Pharma, and Big Banks are following the same strategy. The original strategy was developed by Bug Tobacco, but I’m sure some variation has been going on since we exited Eden/climbed down from the trees.

“Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”

—James Madison, Political Observations, Apr. 20, 1795 in: Letters and Other Writings of James Madison, vol. 4, p. 491 (1865)

Basically, in France, Brazil, Ireland, Canada, USA, Oz, NZ we are seeing the final stages of a “soft” military takeover of the levers of government power. Ironically, they are doing it with the full complicity of the political groups that claim to be “progressive.” They understand the human desire for power, and they also are correctly betting that these “leftist” groups will compromise on individual liberties in exchange for power. It’s a deal with the Devil that everyone will regret.

Exactly. It seems destined for a terrible ending. The way things are going with Russia and China, i'm not sure this country is prepared for a major war. I would've felt differently a decade ago even.

I watched the Leslie Stahl interview at the time and it made me sick. Conservatives already knew by then in detail that it wasn't a conspiracy theory at all. Her slick, armor-plated, self-righteous, condescending demeanor towards a sitting president was and is disgusting, as is their fawning, giggling, smiling pseudo-questioning of their preferred politicians. How Trump carries on, slapped with millions of dollars' worth of fines here, there and everywhere, while the real bad actors walk tall, I simply do not know. Talk about election interference.

What is perhaps most disturbing is that for the 51% of the population that “voted” for Biden in 2020 I would imagine 75% of them are completely unaware that the only Russian collusion was orchestrated by the Democrat machine (because they only follow mainstream media) and the other 25% know it and just play stupid.
