Racket readers are about to receive a packet of new articles. To explain the project and also make a case for audience participation, I'll be doing a livestream
I'm really excited about this project, I've wanted to do something like this for a while. The idea of building open source timelines for ongoing events and complicated threads is something that's sorely needed for understanding complex stories.
This sounds like it could end up being Racket's legacy. I'm stoked.
If this works as I understand the intention -as a repository for primary materials that will help us assess the truth of the news as it is being presented, it will be immensely helpful. A request - the documents that confirms Gorbachev was given promises that NATO would not expand.
Agreed -- though I've been lead to believe that this might have been a "gentlemen's agreement" [sic?!?] between James Baker (Secretary of State under Bush I) and Gorbachev as a precondition for Gorbachev's approval of the reunification of Germany.
As such, it may be apocryphal but I've certainly heard about it many times so I'd be very interested in any "hard copy".
Sounds like it may be something like what DataRepublican (small r) is doing. Aggregate tons of data and then write search capabilities for anyone in the world to access to gain clarity into a situation or story. The main stream media is going to hate this and hate Racket News even more.
I’ve wanted a copy of the committee meeting led by Bernie Sanders, on a large funding package for Ukraine, where Rand Paul asks for the general from Afghanistan to audit the aide to Ukraine, and a staffer whispers something in Bernie’s ear and Rand Paul’s seemingly obvious request is refused by the committee. I may have seen it on a Glenn Greenwald show, but I haven’t been able to find it easily.
I won't be able to attend the livestream because it conflicts with Zeteo's townhall on free speech. We're just getting rid of "woke" suppression of free speech and now we have a new McCarthyism--with real people's real lives at stake. I look forward to your advocacy for the 1st Amendment when you have some time after establishing this creative, useful, empowering Library!
I saw the announcement of this new project on YouTube. I have been watching for the last six months. I think this latest program you have going is gonna be very valuable and help me make the decision to be a paid subscriber. Keep up the good work, Matt thank you
Thank you. I was able to find this one on Rumble based on your reply. The post(s) on Substack seem to be only an article reading of the invitation email/introduction of the livestreams. For recent examples, the discussion with Matt Stoller does not appear to be available on Substack, YouTube, or Rumble (possibly because it was part of a conference) and the discussion with Gabe Kaminsky is only on Rumble.
His live streams always seem to stay on Youtube, this one is there as well. I subscribe to his channel so the app puts them in my feed an usually announces when he goes live. I'm not sure why it's hard for you to find the Stoller and Kaminsky talks, I thought those were in the Live archive there too.

I did run across this, for what it's worth. https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/briefing-book/russia-programs/2017-12-12/nato-expansion-what-gorbachev-heard-western-leaders-early

This should be outstanding.
This should be super helpful
Racket is, without a doubt, the best site to which I subscribe.
Appreciate the innovation. Thanks.
What a wonderful idea! Go, Matt!

Value added services! Thank you.
This is a big deal. Thank you!!!

Matt, could you add livestream recordings to the podcast feed?
Any chance this livestream can be recorded for posterity (and me-- with my doctor's apppintment at 4)?
The live streams are usually posted on the platforms they stream on. They just show up under the "Live" tab.

Mets post announcing this includes links to rumble and YouTube. I missed the announcement but just listened to it as a recording on YouTube.
