I've had more fun this past week on Twitter than the past 2 years, reading the written meltdowns, gnashing of teeth and incessant whining of the blue checkmarks. Who knows what Twitter will become? Musk isn't a God King though he does have a pretty quirky sense of humor. I got to attend the opening of the GigaTexas plant outside of Austin 3 weeks ago and had no idea what to expect. It was for the most part a pretty young crowd (25-35 yrs olds) made up mostly of current employees and their "one-Plus" guests. It was a VERY ethnically diverse crowd. While there was a small VIP area in the area of the second floor part of the factory where the stage was setup for the music and remarks by Musk that evening, most of this second floor area was filled with a large enthusiastic crowd, with an even larger contingent outside rocking out, with everyone having a good time, posing with their favorite current or future Tesla EV. The entire factory floor was open for everyone to walk through, see how the cars were made and put together, people signing their names on a couple of Model Y's to mark the event. A very open, relaxed atmosphere.

I relate this experience as a way of suggesting that what we may see from Musk and those that he brings in to right the ship at Twitter may surprise all of us including his critics. Maybe he can come in and make Twitter a better place and "more fun" with a more positive energy that has been typical of Twitter in the last year or so. If not, no big deal. We'll go find another way of talking to one another and sharing ideas and information without being ruled over by nannies hired by billionaires OR by the new Ministry of Truth recently created by the Biden Administration.

Twitter is not reality. It’s waY more dangerous, because reality is full of people who can say “wait a second; I think that’s bull shit,” without a bunch of sanctimonious assholes condescendingly descending upon the masses to set us straight. Fuck these cool aid drinking, overly sensitive lemming-like mother fuckers who refuse to understand that the world cannot be the perfection they perceive in their little heads, and it shouldn’t be, because we need the conflict of ideas. That’s the whole fucking point of progress: it’s born of toil and fire and convincing and collaborative arguing, not out of some academic utopian dictate from the blue checks on some social media platform the vast majority of Americans don’t give two shits about.

Spot on, Matt. What I find most incomprehensible in all of this is the complete lack of self-awareness on the part of most of these people. If I'm wrong and they are completely self-aware, the only conclusion I can reach is that we are up against a stampeding herd of psychopaths.

Matt, holy Moly, the White House has cleared 100,000 swastika refugees from Ukraine, 150,000 more planned? CA plans to recruite them as police officers. Food processing plants sabotaged? What a clever way to infiltrate USA! What could go wrong⁉️ You know Stephen Cohen died so not many sticking up for Putin. I’m wearing a St George ribbon until Putin de-swastikas Ukraine. Well, the Stone boys still love Putin; I’m hoping you do, too.

I'm still trying to understand what is going on and what a good response would be, but finding humor in filtering info seems to be beyond me.

Please forgive me for saying, that I thought the internet was best when I could see our troops getting killed. Real world suffering should be visible and accurately referenced if you want to talk about truth, free speech, right & wrong, or whatever we are striving for. Last night I watched several videos from YouTube purporting to show a drone sinking Russian high speed boats. They all showed the pursuit, but protected my sensitive eyes from seeing the actual strike and sinking, WTF. If that is the result of democracy, shouldn't we let Russia win?

It would be nice if outright lies were banned, such as Holocaust denial statements, and require that others have support, as scientific journals do. However, there is the argument that horrible people expose themselves as horrible by the lies that they hold true. Lex Fridman's guest Michael Saylor on #276 made a suggestion that seems to have some merit, that members post a nominal fee of say $10 for their account. This would help control certain posts, such as by bot swarms, as each one would require an account and so would create a very high price for entry. Also, if the member were to become a problem due to lies, then they would lose their $10 and account.

Democracies require an enlightened electorate and that's not what we have now, we became very stupid in a very short period of time. That really has to be fixed or our democracy is over, but can stupid be fixed? While these superficial problems, censorship, can be blamed on "woke" liberals, they are but a reaction to the real problem, conservatism. Liberals really do have to learn how to find conservatism, which is itself merely a reaction against the concepts of individual rights and equal opportunity. Then, when conservatism is marginalized, we can focus on fixing what's wrong within liberalism.

That last line is flippin' great, Matt. Thanks for being a beacon of sanity against the waves of an ocean of insufferable (and increasingly insane) imbeciles. Much appreciated.

I'm not at all a fan of Musk's, but I am enjoying the fuck out the hypocritical meltdown over his purchase of Twitter.

Great article. Meanwhile, there is quite compelling proof of 2000 ballot harvesting mules. When can we start claiming election cheating by the Dems? And given the fact that ballot harvesting is illegal in Georgia and other swing states, can we just admit that the election with stolen by the Dems?
