I missed the original article, but glad I got to catch it again here. I think you’re spot on when it comes to maintaining our brain as that is essentially what is being snuffed out. I just wrote a piece on AI and while it’s amazing, like the internet, it also comes with its own downsides as well.
Looking forward to what comes more from Racket News, and yes, the goal moving forward is about persevering the human mind. I’ll be writing on this as well in my stack.
I was at a 78 yr old friends house last night, had “60 minutes” on..anyone see it? The most over the top Russophobia. A twilight zone episode. I’d like to see some critiques on it by journalists
Speaking of attempting to maintain sanity while being gaslighted by the powers that be, check out this recent "reporting" claiming that the non-story previously known as Havana Syndrome is a) actually real, you guys! and b) Russia is to blame!
This says it was updated March 31 2024, so either they jumped the gun on April Fools or the Ministry of Truth has jumped on the Bad Remakes Train just like most of Hollywood. What the actual fuck is going on...
Yeah, they keep doing terrible things to us and we keep reading and writing about it. Eventually, when we're down to our last roll of toilet paper and a half-eaten Snickers bar we may rise up (to surrender).
I often think I'm "multitasking" 🤔 by holding too many things in my brain at once.
Endless distractions -- podcasts, work, work conversations, Teams texts, banter from the next cubical, and of course ads running while I'm trying to search for something online -- and then there's my phone.
I long for the days when I'd climb trees and read books among the fluttering leaves.
Right now I'm in the neverending winter that IS the midwest.
I just want to sit on my patio, in the sun and read; try to ignight some dormant spark for holding solid attention.
I have been thinking about this over and over. I think you nailed it!! This week I leave for Europe and turning everything off including the podcast and reading is exactly what I plan to do

Thanks again! Here’s the AI article if anyone’s interested: https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/why-ai-is-nothing-more-than-advanced
