I listened to Matt and Walter's weekly update over the weekend, which presages this article. While I'm happy with the short term result, I vehemently disagree that this is a win. If no one goes to jail, it's a win for the bad guys. "Look at what we got away with and no one paid a price!" Conclusion: Let's do it again.

In other words, if there's no penalty for blatantly violating the Constitution, what protections do we have against this happening again?

It is my solemn wish that the DHS reorganize itself into oblivion. A guy can dream.

This is not going away. It’s just stalled. They’ll pull back, regroup, then come again.

The elites are trying to recover their credibility. They clearly want to appear credible, as they're going after anyone who dissents with various censorship attempts. The only reason they're rolling back these latest disinfo control programs is because the attempt itself has undermined their credibility. But until they recognize that being dishonest with people has at best, only temporary effects, it ain't gonna get better. Of late they want us to believe the US wasn't responsible for the Nordstream sabotage, despite them having telegraphed it to us all in advance that they were going to do it. They REALLY want to be credible, but they are completely clueless on how to make that happen and their pathetic attempts are just making it worse for them. At this point, when they make a claim, you can bet money on it that the opposite is true.

The start of all this misinformation/blah blah comes from the Government, which has made a practice of lying to the public for at least half century. Worrying about Russians and Bots is *secondary*, at least.

Tread carefully and lightly, Matt, lest it is another federal agency than the IRS that shows up on your doorstep in the dark of night.

We have clearly entered the phase where our totalitarian government uses the power of its institutions to show up at their homes to threaten American citizens.

Yesterday it was IRS agents showing up at your house unannounced in a naked attempt to harass you.

Tomorrow it will be the FBI showing up at your door in the middle of the night, pointing select fire weapons at your children's heads while they gently lecture you about the dangers of "treasonous actions."

This episode ended reasonably well, but the Disinformation Bureau will be back under another name. The only way to cripple this bureaucratic endeavor is to fire enough people that the critical mass required to move this project is not reachable. Every third federal employee should be cashiered.

Matt Taibbi visited at home by IRS. (WSJ today). And The FTC Chair is demanding names of journalists invited in by Musk. This is getting sketchy......and Democrats wonder why gun sales are increasing? (That probably puts me on a watch list). Note to Joe B...I’ve never had guns, but Idaho and Texas are looking more attractive every day.

Holy shit Mattman, they sent the IRS after you? I guess that indicates that you've arrived.

Pop a cork and celebrate a win.

While government shouldn't be in charge of 'truth', people need to accept the fact that all societies view lies and misinformation as bad and punishable. I fear that your presentation is being taken as an argument for subjectivity, that anything is true so long as people believe it. This is wrong. Truth is objective reality.

Science is based on evidence and rejects faith. Therefore, the standard needs to be evidence and applied to news and posts. Flat-earthers and antivaxxers should have no expectation of their arguments being accepted in discourse unless they have hard, experimental evidence to back their argument up.

I love the cynical title "Appering to Scrap" the dystopian board. Cause if you tell the public that we stopped being what we are they will drop their guard and be swallowed by the next wave. Just be patient, its a work in progress.

STOP - DO NOT INVEST IN THIS BROKEN MODEL!!!

Seriously if they are begging for money and VC bailed it means its a broken model. Think about it, how many regular people are paying per writer $5 to $10 per month? Not enough apparently and the next thing they will introduce is advertising which is 1million times worse. This monetization model is for elites, elite writers and elite readers who can afford to pay to "benefit" from their writing. Its not Twitter but its just as elitist as Twitter and will devolve into the same mess and control mechanism.

Go check out web3. Go check out crypto. Go check out the MVP of my solo hobbiest project "dplatform.me" The next platforms will be web3, crypto, micro-transactions, and governed by decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) or no one

The future is decentralized!

Just so you know, I was laughing alone this week-end when your concept of Trumpus Interruptus came back to my mind during the last "walls are closing in" story. of the last week

This is a catchy concept

I subscribed because I have been reading Matt since 2004. Read most of his books starting with "Spanking the Donkey" which is hilarious and should have been made into a movie. I actually interviewed him in 2009 on a radio show I had. I am more than pleased that he has partnered with Walter Kirn who is a free thinker and wise and witty to boot. And a skeptic as I have become. I don't know these new folks and I will warily read and watch. The disinformation people are everywhere.
