I would like to find out, but I more or less agree. Every country almost was over the top on Covid shots, for sure. And they all have universal healthcare. Actually, almost no one except us has it. We don't have universal healthcare and we were among the worst.

Be careful what you ask for ... what is your work-around in a single-payer system when the payer decides that the care YOU may need is not “in the public interest” to fund ... or allow?
Single-payer only works reliably if the payer is an omniscient, infallible saint. Someone gets screwed otherwise.
What I know is I have a lot of relatives in the UK and they love their NHS. They do so much more than is does in the US by Medicare, etc. Including house calls. My relatives would revolt if they had to have the US health care system. Those that oppose single payer lie their asses off at how bad UK and Canada are, but have absolutely no basis. I wait longer now in the US that anyone in the UK does. Like, a year and a half for a rheumatologist appointment.

Not sure what you're describing but it certainly isn't single-payer health insurance.
