Great comedy is essentially telling the truth in a rant. It’s not the same as pun writing, which is what news humor obviously is. It’s also the reason why Trump’s twitter feed is awesome and late night comedy has sucked for years.

His message gets out b/c it framed in humor-it’s the Mary Poppins theory-a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down in a most delightful way.
Watching this again, it's eerie how closely Pryor's "white person voice" coincides in tone and cadence with Obama's speechifying delivery. Wonder if Barry watched him as a kid.

I was going to write something making fun of your indignant tone, Jacqueline, and then I thought better of it and went and looked at Matt's substack homepage (I read articles via email newsletter). Because quite a few pieces were published at once, the more "meaty" pieces are pushed to the bottom — perhaps giving an incomplete view of the content. Maybe Matt can "pin" or separate them in future.
