There was a metal box thingy called Privacy Case a while back that blocked transmissions. (But it seems they went "out of business".) I had one (second hand) and it worked for a while, then a couple years later I tried it with a new phone ... and that was able to receive signal.

merely block the signal.

If that's true, maybe you can explain how (as I said above) this metal case blocked transmissions for my older phone (while inside the case, with audible ring), yet was able to receive signal from a newer phone. The newer phone obviously had to be more powerful/capable in some way. The case was designed with a metal-embedded o-ring between two enclosing metal shell halves.

Assuming that it not some totally fake product. A Faraday bag will, as per the laws of physics, completely block any and all radio signals, or, indeed, electromagnetic radiation of any kind.
