Well folks, about 8 hours ago I thought I had properly replied to Atma's thoughtful insights above๐ก; and additionally concocted an unusually brilliant response to this omnipresent sidebar discussion regarding a sort of "SubStack suggestion box", form of subscriber activism. However, when I returned to home base just now from today's errands, and carefully threading my way thru both the masked and unmasked public, I made an ironically disappointing discovery; there was no remaining evidence of my brilliant prose.
So, as one of our silver-tongued Commander-in-Chiefs once said; "I'm fired up!"
As SubStack "PAID" subscribers we deserve to be provided normal
up-to-date posting tools and functions on this platform. An automatic 5 minute editing delay when posting comments, ideally with an automated spell-check, would be an excellent addition. There needs to be an "IGNORE" option button located on the subject line of every comment, to allow every paid subscriber to choose the substantive quality of the experience according to their own interests. This not a "DELETE", "CANCEL", "CENSOR" OR "HATE" systemic function, it is an individual quality of experience option. Like most other such tools, the choice to ignore can be easily reversed.
Standard composition buttons would also facilitate "underlining", "bold print", "italics" etc.๐ค
๐ค๐ Now, wouldn't that IGNORE button come in handy now?๐คฃ

I quite like the "Suggestion Box", but it would have to have "TEETH" relative to Substack Overlords.
I am not certain that I understand the advantage of an "Ignore" feature, over just scrolling past.
Interesting that you are *also missing *multiple pages of scintillating prose ! So am I ! In my case, however, what was taken down was an essentially juvenile running battle with a member just *addicted to argument FOR the sake of argument. The kind that, if you posit that the Sun Rises in the East, will rejoinder in a veritable *GALE of excellently written countering logorrhea proclaiming that we *all know that the Sun rises in the freakin' NORTH, as ever it *always has done ! So, the pages were not a loss from the standpoint of content, but, bloviator that I *am, they represented a *huge investment in typing time. So that one was really on *me, and not on Substack.
I have an "o.k." private spell checker for any site upon which I write, a bit of software from "Language Tool BASIC." As I recall, it was free, and worth every *penny at *that price ! ;-D
What I would LOVE would be a search function that would allow me to access particular conversations when I think of something I need to add ! Right now, I am obliged to hand search from start to end !
It may be my aging computer, but I no longer receive email notice of *comments from other members. I am notified of "likes", but no longer of *comments. Yet another thing that I am obliged to search from stem to stern in an attempt to locate, and address.
Anyway - bitch, bitch, bitch ...... Good to hear from you ! ;-D
I've had zero experience with the "Overlords", but your remark reminded me that I left out what I felt was one of the more important parts of a collective appeal to SubStack owner/administrators. Namely to enlist, after perfecting a first draft of suggestions, the ideas and support of the SubStack contributors (Matt, Glenn, Aaron et al) themselves. The quest is to improve the quality and synergy (thank you Mr. Fuller) and therefore enhance both the appeal and marketability of the platform.๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Regarding the "IGNORE" button. It simply allows each subscriber to basically self-moderate by choosing to simply ignore content they are not interested in. The user's ID whose content you have decided to ignore remains in the order of whatever thread they are participating in. If you change your mind and want to see their content, simply click on the button and it reappears.
My experience with this option goes a great distance towards editing out the shit-show noise, long winded trolling and multitudes of other feckless distractions from informed and collegial discussion and debate. If simply scrolling past that which does not pic your interest, that works for me. The situation, from my purview here on SS, is that there is an increasing number of commenters. across several sites. that repetitively post very lengthy rants, (often copied and pasted within the same discussion); one quick touch of an IGNORE button and ๐ฅ poof, problem solved.๐
About the notifications issue. Do you use a Google browser? It provides me with both "likes" & "reply" notifications. The machine I'm using presently is a 6 year old Dell lap-top refurbished with an Intel 13 processor & a Windows 10 operating system. I 'm still not used to not having my Apple system, which has been in storage since April.
