Listening to this young man, his 'protest' is, predictably, all about him—his virtue, his sense of what's right, his opinion about what people ought to do in light of what's right, his sense of what's important, his sense of himself as a person, etc. Aside from their function as pretexts for protesting, the issues being protested are irrelevant: any issue would do. The point is simply to protest wrongness, and that's fine. There are crazier and more harmful ways of demonstrating one's virtue: machine gunning people to death for drawing pictures of Mohammad, for example. Same “I am truth's messenger” impulse, just a different level of commitment.
You and him coordinating and interacting make this “news report” appear a little phony. Reminds me of the recent incident at the Minneapolis church, where a so called “journalist” got too involved. Your phone / your video / your friend? Pseudo-objective / facilitation.
It's positively Dada. This guy's dedication to ahimsa is admirable. He's inconveniencing some cops and commuters, and entertaining us here. Not a single foul word or epithet. This is old school activism - non violent and self sacrificing. It contrasts sharply with serried ranks of casually uniformed marchers chanting in unison brandishing professionally printed placards.
Guido obviously thought about this action and his concerns about the Singularity are not necessarily misplaced.
I salute his individuality. (Wish I could climb a bridge like that.)
What’s fascinating about this video is what it reflects about the Racket readership in the comments. For all their Libertarian bluster they’re just Nixon’s Silent Majority revisited. Old white guys offended by protest because it shows their tacit support for the status quo.
It’s all a publicity stunt, jack. The Boston Tea Party, the yippies, the March on Selma, the Sit ins, I have a dream, the Sermon on the Mount, yada, yada, yada. They were all pains in the ass, they all ‘stopped traffic.’ The issue I have with many protests today is protesters are often surprised and hurt when the police react and arrest them. Civil disobedience is valid in my book, but you have to be willing to walk the walk and go jail, and to even die if you truly believe in your cause. And btw major props to the Capitol police., from what I saw they reacted brilliantly, they made me still proud to be an American. Compare them to Trump’s goons, ICE, in Minneapolis.
Trumps ‘goons’? Shame on you. The American people passed laws that presume the federal government will enforce the nation’s laws on behalf of the electoral plurality of the PEOPLE who voted to enact them. To minimize the scale and magnitude of the obstruction calling itself protest does a disservice to all the legitimate protests you previously tried to align yourself with.
Another Guido moment, lol. The dude wants to assuage his imagined guilt, primarily. Look world, I'm doing something he says to himself, I suppose.
The tragic fuk up by US intelligence that sent one misplaced bomb is his main concern, along with AI danger.
His responses to the News Nation contact were rhetorical and boilerplate left grievance. Similar to the poll that shows 47 percent of Dems think Trump assassination attempt staged, Guido is under the delusion that War dept. planners thought it a good idea to bomb the school despite knowing it was no longer an IRGC facility.
I hope his chest is welled up with pride in knowing that he is a hero in his own mind.
This is a type of protest I can get behind, since he's mostly only inconveniencing himself.
And a pantload of commuters. And some paramedics that might have something else to do.
Ya mean people with JOBS ?
A protest stunt that draws attention to a cause without inconveniencing others is far more likely to receive a positive response from the public.
What's wrong with this guy? He's not protesting climate change and transgenderphobia as well? He'll never score a foundation grant this way.
😂🤣
“Guido Reichstadter” is a name that would be a bit too much in fiction.

Just seems to be a display of narcissistic personality disorder to me.
Why does anyone care when people decide to put themselves in danger to make a point?
Because they are in The way 🤣
hmmm This rhetorical question seems a bit like "why does the chicken cross the road?".
To get hit by a car.
Why give people like this the publicity? Let the cars go through and forget about it.
hey, at least he isn’t trying to assassinate anyone.

Don’t know why the cops stoped traffic.

On an ironic note, if it were the 1980's he would have been up there unfurling a banner that read:
NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS!
The pyramid of social media.
Some idiot does very dangerous things for money and hits because they have no other discernible talent.
Other idiots promote and encourage this behavior for money and hits.
Even more idiots watch this crap for no other reason than hoping that the person dies on camera in a spectacularly entertaining way.
Now that's what I call journalism!!!!
Somehow porn ended up the most rational, responsible and ethical way to make money on the internet.
What a moron.
FIRE HOSE Problem Solved
This is the only way to give this nut job publicity - stop it.

As in the status quo of protest narcissism demonstrated through publicity stunts?
