Except the sun doesn’t shine 24/7 and the wind either blows too hard or doesn’t. The turbines in the North Sea were quiet last winter. They froze in Texas a year or so ago.
The NAACP was up in arms about how expensive energy had gotten because of renewables in California.
I am very in touch with reality with regards to this. Perhaps you’re the ideologue.

I'm afraid you just don't know what you're talking about.
While no single currently-available technology might be a perfect fit for every place and situation, the combination of already available technologies can significantly replace fossil fuels. And there is no doubt whatsoever that fossil fuel combustion has already pushed atmospheric CO2 to levels not seen in millions of years, and that we have already rapidly destabilized the global climate control system- pushing it towards a chaos scenario in which all bets are off. Ignore it if you like, for your ideological preferences - but you can be certain that putting your head in the sand is NOT going to save you, your children or descendants from the misery that will ensue. In any case, I have no interest in a useless exchange with people who ignore even what their own senses tell them.
