Something funny about me, I have an ethical problem with sterilizing animals. I feel that a fundamental part of being alive is the ability to procreate and that to take it away simply for our greater convenience is unjustifiable.
I don't deny that there are some cases where people should not take the Covid Vaccine and I am sure that a qualified doctor can vouch for that. However we have seen numerous examples of misinformed doctors as well...
Again, i am fine with people who have reasons, religious or medical for not taking the vaccine.
But there is a reason a place like Denmark or Japan are 80% vaccinated. And there is a reason a place like the US an UK are closer to 60% vaccinated.
And that reason pertains to large swaths of both of our populations succumbing to misinformation. The US was ranked #1 for Pandemic preparedness before Covid and we ended one of the worlds worst as measured by deaths per 1M... There is a reason for that.
One reason is poor leadership including a President who pushed misinformation to citizens
And the second is citizens who consume unusually high amounts of Mis Information. There is a very close correlation between Americans who fell for the "stop the steal lie" and who think they understand the science better than the CDC or other health ministries. And the reality is that they don't.
I had a friend who fell for all of the anti vax propaganda. He got covid. Survived and a year later, thinking he was immune, got it again and died. I had an uncle who ignored shelter in place mandates, went to his church and along with 30 others in the congregation got infected. Sadly he too died from it.
These are such avoidable deaths. And misinformation as at the root of so many unnecessary dying. That is my point.
Not just misinfo, mistrust. Baton Rouge was an unvaxxed hotspot and an overflowing hospital but that was 75% distrusting unvaxxed minorities and 25% conservatives.
