It was a horrible debate. Trump was certainly rude but Biden lied just as much. Softer tone, but garbage still came out. Pre-existing conditions as the opener? Are you kidding me? Then Trump calls him a socialist and says the Green New Deal is $100T. Bottom line: good people won't run. James Mattis--a serious man of history--said "Let's be very clear, democracy is an experiment. That's all it is." There was nothing tonight to make a young talent aspire to become a leader. This was the opposite.
I'm not pretentious. I simply hold the belief that good people won't go into politics. Let's use the example of 6-8-4. Quality-wise Joe is a 6 out of 10, and that's it. Trump is an 8 when it comes to competence. He's done / spearheaded many great things for your country (and the world). But his personality / style / whatever you call it is also a 4 in many respects. Unfortunately, voters want it all. The want an 8 all the way through--not a bunch of 6s. Good people exist. They really do. But they want nothing to do with this style of politics. Would you want your personal life / family / every chick you slept with thrown into the 24/7 gossip ring? Answer: No. But I certainly applaud Pres Trump for bringing economic competence to the position. And feel he could have won that debate hands down by remaining calm, letting Joe expose his weaknesses, and just reiterating all the accomplishments.
What has Trump done right? I'll assume that's your question. Let's use the example of NAFTA. It was pretty obvious this agreement needed to be updated. The theory behind globalization was never to employ slave labour. The idea was help countries develop. Canadian and US auto manufacturers were being forced into moving to Mexico because wages there are only $2 / hour. Here's a clip. The union leader hates Trump "but he's right about this."
I don't know if I have enough alcohol in the house to follow these rules. I don't see the debate offering up any type of dialogue other than what you have listed in the rules.
When I was in elementary school, sometimes boys would get in a fight over something like...a ball...and name-calling would start and then there would be a semi-violent, but not really violent brawl and both would get sent to the principal's office. Both would end up getting detention. That's what I watched last night, except the principal (Wallace) was nothing like Sister Carmella from my childhood. She would have shut that shit DOWN.
What if Trump whips out his little orange mushroom, pisses in a cup, and declares it “beautiful, perfect, amazing, clean” piss and dared Biden do the same? Thus becoming a literal televised pissing contest. With a schlongsuit competition.
Will Biden go full McConnell and call his “mule piss”?
A milestone in the progress of American democracy. Two decrepit, utterly depraved perverts. One unashamedly in it only for himself and the other gets off on being a play-thing of the ruling class.
As a member of the A Pox On Both Your Parties party, I am ashamed at my role in this. My party may be bigger than either Team Red or Team Blue but those partisans at least get something for themselves in return for their media/political consumerism, namely tribal identity and justification, what do I get? I'm supporting the system by consuming the product and counting in ratings. And what do I get for my media/political consumerism? Misery and a hangover.
Look Fat, here's the deal.
“You ain’t black if...”
Rule 12 is downright irresponsible!
I think he’s trying to kill his readers by alcohol poisoning. Not a great business model for an independent reporter.
Worked for William Faulkner.

Seriously?!? Get over your pretentious, affected self!

Sorry, what great things are that?

Trump's performance was like a mammoth stuck in a tar pit bellowing at the other archaic beast.

The usual Taibbi brilliance.
Do you want people to get alcohol poisoning.

This is an awful lot of opportunity. Alcohol-poisoning-level opportunity.
#13 is going to make it a short night.
Feeling it today. Thanks Matt.
What a damn mess.
I believe these are guidelines for "deaths of despair"
I’m going to start drinking early. I need my debate legs!
Where's Ralph to scold us for playing a drinking game while important things are going down?
I was wondering the same thing....
